Besides being very natural and fun on camera, the other draw to your channel is the education and history you boyh provide in each vlog! So thank you! I know it’s extra work to have it prepared before going on camera! Pls know it’s very much appreciated!
I love Puebla! Thank you for this video because my wife is from Puebla. We use to live there and we will be going back when I retire in the next five years. I love watching your videos and enjoy your explanation and how fun your experiences seem to be when we watch.
Ah nice! Puebla is treating us well so far so I can tell it’ll be a nice place to retire. Thanks so much for watching. I’m so glad you enjoy our videos. Have a great Sunday!
THIS is what we love about watching your videos - it's just one of the reasons, but it's a big one... LEARNING! We former Angeleos can attest that there's a lot of celebration happening all over L.A. ("the old mexico 😜)for Cinco De Mayo - never saw any 3 week stuations happening though. But nothing as off the hook as THIS! To vbe fair, we never really saught it out to celebrate, same for St. Patrick's Day. Side note: Andie & Jenny have the same taste in sneakers! Love you guys!
St. Patricks day in Ireland is separated like Thanksgiving is in the States just with out the football , more of a spend time with family and maybe go down to the local pub for a quiet drink at least thats what my Irish born grandmother told us .
You two always manage to entertain and educate. Favorite line, “that is one sexy trompo”. I love Puebla. Visit the pyramid and the great centro of neighboring Cholula. Go to the oldest library in NA-the Biblioteca Palafoxiana. Áttico has good food and great views of the cathedral from the rooftop deck.
@@EatBailaTravelyes, napoleon was perhaps one of the top 10 if not the top military commander of all time and it might have been a different story if napoleon was the one that came to Mexico
This was a fun way of telling the story, I learned a few things. Puebla is a great town, loved the molé sampler platter at El Anafre Rojo. There are some really great coffee shops there… atta salon cafe, Clemente Specialty Coffee and Atelier are all great. Enjoy!
Great video. Thank you for clarifying to us gringos Mexicans don't really think much of Cinco de Mayo. My Mexican significant other reminds me of it every year. 😅Regardless it's fun to see some Mexicans celebrating it. 🥳 Hola from Los Angeles.
Empezó con los mexicanos viviendo en Estado unidos , usaban la batalla de Puebla como inspiración para pelear por sus derechos en Usa. Y luego las marcas de tequila, y cervezas lo usaron como oportunidad para vender más y hacer dinero.
Because in the United States May 5 is celebrated more than in Mexico, because after Mexico won the battle of Puebla, the French dismissed General Lorenzes, planned a counterattack with generals who were trained with Napoleon and put a beating and entered Mexico City leaving Juarez in dismay for the United States, but with the resistance in Mexico the union armies finally defeated the Confederates without the help of the French who wanted the reestablishment of slavery, and were able to win The civil war is why in the US it is celebrated more than in Mexico on May 5
Ahhh I’d previously heard there was a political reason behind the US favoring this particular victory but wasn’t sure why. Thanks for clearing that part up!
I think that it is the US version of the European May Day celebration of May 1. Halfway through Spring. Most everywhere is above freezing for a little while. What kind of American doesn't like Margaritas, jalapeños, and tacos?
Ah, I am glad you explain that Cinco de Mayo is NOT Mexican independence day. I noticed that 100% of my non-Mexican friends and even some of my Mexican (!) friends in the U.S. believed that. When I tell them that Cinco is not much celebrated in Mexico outside of Puebla I always get incredulous stares. Barely anyone ever heard that the French were engaged in Mexico. So, thank you for setting things straight. But no, Jenny, you don't look like 30! 25 may be.
4:10 you are right that st Patrick’s day is more “celebrated” (party wise) in the US than Ireland but interesting enough….over the past couple decades it’s becoming very celebrated (party-wise) in Ireland too. It is likely the result of the popularity of st Patrick’s day partying in the US reaching Ireland through the ever increasing sharing of cultures online and through travel. This happens all the time. Korean BBQ ribs are actually from California made by Korean immigrants but is now somewhat popular in South Korea as “LA Ribs”. Or how about this one…corn dogs are from the US, introduced to South Korea, modified by Koreans then reintroduced to the US as Korean corn dogs which are a growing and popular food in the US.
Or how about this one Turkey the bird, is actually from Mexico and it was exported to Turkey and then brough back to USA and now americans eat it for Thanksgiving lol
little known fact which tells why this battle is important to US. the extra trouble France faced in Mexico also put a damper on Napoleon 3's plans to arm Confederate States in their war of independence from USA. with Americans abject historical illiteracy, this isn't why cinco de mayo is celebrated - just why its significant to US history.
Mexico did not lost the war. At the end all the territory lost to the occupation was recovered. The last battles being g the siege of Queretaro and the battle of San Lorenzo which opened the way back to Mexico city in 1867
I ❤️ history. You guys left out that 5 de mayo is bigger in the states cause Lincoln on the download sent weapons to Benito’s armies cause Benito and Lincoln were homies. Is why we have a statue of Lincoln in 3 parts of Mexico.you also left out that it was in the US fest interest that Mexico won due to its own civil war. The French took advantage in a time of weakness .tell more the real history and not the history we can just google with no problem
We would have loved to go into more detail but we were limited on time due to some personal challenges going on behind the scenes. But that’s definitely also excellent info! Thanks for sharing 👍🏽
5 de Mayo is celebrated so much in the US because it's an acceptable holiday for the Mexicans in the US, having some historical signifcance, but not too important to be weird to celebrate, for instance celebrating another country's indepedence day would be weird.
Real patriots throughout Mexico celebrate La Batalla de Puebla....a stirring victory of a makeshift army of peasants and soldiers who defeated the world's most powerful army of that time, the French army of Napoleon III..... have a lot of fun kiddos, but do not whitewash history and the facts....nonetheless, love the fact that you are both very proud of your roots.
In The United States we celébrate more 5 de mayo than in Mexico, bicose General Zaragoza was born in San Antonio Texas when Texas bilongs to Mexico, Zaragoza was de General of the mexican army at the batalla de Puebla.
Thank you for your videos, I've wanted to visit or even live in Mexico for quite some time but. The US government will not allow me so your videos help 🎉
@@EatBailaTravel Not military and its 1 old misdemeanor (fight) from a few years back, so unfortunately it's my fault..I just need to make time to dispute the passport denial and see where it goes from there. Thanks again!
Los únicos que festejan 5 de mayo son los gringos y los poblanos, bueno y personas que desconocen la idiosincrasia y se dejan llevar por la cultura gringa, buen intento chicos
Don’t we all wish we could just default on our mortgage, but still keep the house. And then throw a party with friends every year to celebrate our victimhood. 🎉
Fíjate que somos orgullosos de tener el nopal en la frente y de poder hablar tres lenguas y todo eso a gracias a los sacrificios de nuestros papás que emigraron a Estados Unidos sin nada.
