Great information on the heels of another video of yours where you went shopping. In that video from 11 months ago, you referred to some as “additive bombs”. Does this mean you will change your “terms of endearment” for those that use additives? LOL. You’ve been a great source of information for me (along with others of course) on my journey of learning and enjoying tequilas. I love all the different perspectives. Keep up the great work!

What brands use additives that are well made in your opinion?

Great video. In theory adding additives isn’t necessarily terrible. The problem is in practice they use additives because they are covering up terrible distillate. They harvest agave that is too young, use diffusers and shortcuts in fermentation and use low quality barrels for aging. Thus they need to use additives to cover up the poor quality product.

Agreed I prefer no additives but like a lot of tequila enthusiasts say “drink what you like” and I get it, the first time I had g4 it was to grassy but I love it now

Do you know anything about Don Abraham? Had the Anejo part of a flight at a restaurant (paired with Fortaleza Anejo and Arte 1146). Very vanilla forward, and TMM said the same thing. I know you have reccomended other products from the NOM like 123 Organic, and noted they are on the sweeter side. Supposedly they are addative free, wondering how they got to be very vanilla forward! I would guess something like your char-chart shown in the video to extract more from the barrell, or maybe other processes that are weaker at extractive agave juice (like re pressing the fibers for more yield but less agave taste overall) or something like that. If its non-barrel-infused-addative, I would almost say its a better choice for sweeter palletes or as a much cheaper alternative to DJ1942.

It really is PER mellowing additive? Huh.. I’ve heard so much back and forth on that with so many saying it actually is 1% overall. Did you used to think it was 1% overall at any point, Tequila Hombre?
