Ah I feel like God wanted me to see this video, I needed it so much today 💛 Have recently been struggling with comparison and it's such a creativity dampener. I listened to a TED talk that said that the pursuit of attention kills creativity and that once you let go of the need for followers or "being seen" the art becomes pure and flows more freely. How true it is! Thank you for this inspiring (and honestly, convicting) video Helena, such an important message and you communicated it so beautifully 💛🌿

Hi Kat! 🤗 ugh It's SUCH a dampener!! I have and continue to struggle on and off with comparison. I've been thinking about the ideas a lot this summer and it's really lightened my spirit! Yes! Whenever I see you I see a reflection of myself. You definitely can tell things in a more structured way but I hear exactly what I believe from you. I think because both of us are expats living in places we love. Also, I have had the same visa status as yours for 5 years which didn't allow me to work. However, it gave me the chance to grow within and reflect on so many things. That was in San Diego and because of which SD holds such a special place in my heart. It's so funny, I am telling all these things in the comment section on RU-vid... But it's ok, I know it's safe here on Simple Joys Channel. ❤️

You always have the most thought provoking videos. Here I thought everyone envied you lol. No life no matter how seemingly perfect comes without it's own unique set of challenges. Considering what it takes to be like a person you admire, such as Van Lifers, it would be cool to travel about the country coming and going as you please. Without considering the challenges those people face, living in a tiny space, limited water, no place to call home.... it's easy to watch on the side lines without the full experience. Spending time creating takes a lot of work that usually never fully shows in a video. I don't think I compare much, only when I see a super multi talented individuals and think damn I wish I had half of their talents. Then I just thank God that they do and are willing to share their unique gifts with others. Stay beautiful Helena and Alex. Your tree has many blooms yet to blossom. All my best!
