The Truth about Etsy Ads 

What's your experience with Etsy ads? Did they work for your shop?

You're not "braggy." Alot of people in person purposely choose to withhold information in fear of competition. You uplift community and beginners. I specifically subscribed so I can watch your promised, factually documented progress. If my spreadsheet predicted 15k a month, I'd be a skeptic too. I want Tim to turn me to a believer lol. My Etsy shop has capped out around about $300 revenue monthly, selling organic rolling paper. Etsy ads didn't seem to help considering the cost, so your video makes me consider running them longer. I also practice a lot of design and have had a cricut cutter for about a year now. You sharing your revenue shows me the value in using my cricut and graphic skill to start making stickers. So I find your numbers encouraging, not braggadocious. Please don't undermine your success Tim.

I opened my Esty sticker business on 1/15/22, got 2 organic sales in the last 2 weeks I opened it in January of this year! This month in February, I am using Esty's advertising at $4.00 a day and got 3 sales from it!. It paid off because I sold 1 sticker pack for $15.99 and now I know what people are looking for in the search results. So far this month I have made $51.90 with 8 sales and it's only the 10th!

This is super inspiring for me. I think it doesn't come off as bragging because you are honestly trying to help others. Your videos are super helpful so thank you for doing them. I really appreciate it. They help to keep me motivated that I will be able to open my shop.

8-10% conversion on ad spend? That’s very unusual. Usually the conversion is around 1-2%. My guess is that you already have tags and titles optimized, which is resulting in the extraordinary high conversion rate. Etsy Ads alone won’t bring in sales, but will get your listings in front of more shoppers. If your tags, titles, descriptions, and photos aren’t optimized first then Ads won’t help. It’ll just put your listings in front of more of the wrong shoppers. As with anything, the devil is in the details.

Good video, straight to the point , clear and concise. Also try running a 24 hour sale for 20% off and you should start to see more sales comes through as Etsy favours sales. (You may need to adjust your prices on your end to make up for the 20% discount) but you should start to see increase sales with this trick. Give it a go!

I knuckled down last paycheck and put myself back on a budget so I could invest 10% of my regular income into my Etsy business. I started ads a couple of weeks ago and have made 2 sales and have gotten a lot of likes. So I'm slowly seeing that needle move. Etsy kind of becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy in that the more interest people show in your stuff and the more they buy, the more Etsy promotes it, making it easier for other people to find and buy. I've seen other people say that they run ads on their new stuff, and once that's performing well, they drop the ads on it because it shows up high in the rankings by virtue of its own stats. So even if it feels painful to drop some money on ads to start with, 1, they should start paying for themselves within a couple of months, and 2, you don't have to run them forever.

I disagree about new stores not using Etsy. It's working for me because I am receiving favorites, and yes, not as many sales (I used the bare minimum budget a day) but I'm sure am getting the store noticed by their algorithms, I also have an idea of the kind of products people want to see more of (through the favorites).

I love doing an ad budget of $1 just to test and see how much it could stretch over time. Its also low enough that you don't feel bad, but also its something so maybe it will work even if its just a few clicks a day (you can get a lot of views though for 1 dollar without the clicking)

What do you sell on Etsy? $20 for 5 listings? I see sense in that especially when all the budget is not used up.

Personally, I wouldn't worry about Etsy ads for at least six months after you open your store for most people who starting out with their online business. You should be spending that time consistently adding listings and growing your store, making sure your SEO is top notch, and filling up every character you can muster on item product titles, tags, etc. Any sales you do get, treat them like gold and do whatever you can to get a good comment rating. Once your store is full (about 100 physical items, or 200-300 digital items), then you can start playing with analytics and considering Etsy ads.

What budget would you recommend? I am just starting, but I work endlessely (no pause, even when I am eating). I have 28 sales at the end of the first month but it is too slow for me. I am afraid that ads will kill my natural growth if I suddently stop them, like Etsy may see that I sudently had a drop and then it could only get worse. I don't want to be dependant on ads.

Be careful what these youtubers are saying especially if they don't tell you their store name to see if their telling the truth. If he has nothing to hide then why is your etsy store name on your Instagram or Twitter feed? Hard to take your advice. Maybe he works for Etsy?
