Hey guys! I have been getting a lot of requests to do more videos about being a military wife and in general what life is like as someone who got married at a relatively young age. If you are a subscriber of mine you know that my videos typically focus on topics like fashion, beauty, travel, and lifestyle videos including sit down videos and vlogs, but the people have spoken! I hope you enjoy this video all about what I have learned since getting married at 22, as well as some advice and things to think about if you are someone who is thinking about getting married young as well. I hope this is helpful!

I honestly don't consider 22 too young to be married. There's always someone who thinks getting married in your 20's is too young. In all honesty, I think 22 is a perfect age because you can grow together. Relationships are about creating experiences together and building upon each other's traits. Learning how to love someone and start a family with your best friend. I think a lot of the reason why relationships suck today is because everyone is so hyper focused on sex. You see sex in TV, movies, music, magazines, video games, on the internet. Even in schools, all we talk about is Sexuality this and Sexuality that. The only reason people say don't get married young is because of sex. I never hear any other excuse. It's always "go fool around with everyone until you're bored and tired, then settle down" and I'm here thinking, what's wrong with having sexual experiences with one person who you truly bond with? Of course you need to weed that person out of the litter, but I honestly don't think it's hard to find someone compatible with you sexually, especially with how the internet let's you choose with the swipe of a finger. I think if you marry young, you increase the chances of a longer lasting bond with that person rather than sleeping around until your 30's and being a tired old mess with nothing to make up for it. No offense to any single people over 30

You're so right! I agree that a huge reason people look down on getting married young is because "don't you want to experience being with other people"? How sad. 22 isn't too young compared to 18-20 year olds that want to get married, but I know I have already grown up so much as a person from 22-24. Also totally agree with your last part, about a long lasting bond. Thank you for sharing

Finally some people with some of the same values! I low key think they are envious and just hope the marriage doesn't last to prove a point to themselves; that's been my experience at least. I've already had my share of experiences before my husband and I would hate to keep wasting my time when the man of my dreams is already in my life. Congrats to you guys ❤

Idk why it made me excited but I married my Army husband at 22 in Sept. 2019 and I turned 24 a couple months ago and I absolutely love this page and not feeling alone especially not having kids yet xD

Met husband in 6th grade and continued as friends through high school, dated some, he joined the Army and I went to business school. He asked me to marry him after he came home on leave from his first 2 year duty station. I said I wasn't ready to get married yet and I had a year left in school. Poor guy. His next duty station was a school and then the Army sent him to Vietnam. I graduated business school and was working. We wrote to each other during this time--no cell phones--air mail letters. He came home from his first tour in Vietnam and again asked me to marry him. This time I said yes, I was 22. He had another school to go to, so we set the date for when his school finished. Next duty station was Germany for 3 years during the Cold War and with Vietnam still going on. We went through alerts, 30-60 days in the field never knowing if it was "real" or just training. I worked for AAMPS Engineering Depot as a bookkeeper for all theater property in Europe clear over to Addis Abba, Ethopia. We didn't get too much time for travel due to the war going on, but whenever we did, we traveled to Garmish and Austria. Then he got orders for unaccompanied tour for 13 months to Korea. Working during that time made the time go by a bit faster. Then to Virginia where he taught, but then another year in Vietnam for him. A year of writing back and forth sharing our days and time. Returned to CONUS and VA again. He did not like teaching, so when his enlistment was up after 10 years he decided to get out. We chose to move back to our home state and he joined the National Guard where he could fly much more and loved his job. Unfortunately, Vietnam caught up with him in the form of a bad heart attack at 35, and was told that there was nothing that could be done and that he had about 5 years to live. VA said not service connected. He died at 39. Still no connection to his years of service according to VA. Finally, watching the news by myself one evening, the reporter said that his heart attack had a presumptive cause due to Agent Orange which he was sprayed with during both tours in Vietnam and in Korea. I called the number the newsman gave and a lady answered and I gave her the information and she asked if I wanted to sign in now or she'd send me the information and I could fill it out and apply when I felt like it. NOW said I! I finally got Part of the DIC my husband earned for his family, but only part as the common thread of the VA at that time was Deny, Deny until they die. I was very proud of my husband, what he did, how he conducted himself and though he is gone I love him still and always will. We were great friends and partners and I miss him.

Okay point three about your husband being more untidy is so relatable. My fiance is the exact same way😂 We have those same discussions about simple things like that too often. We are both working on it. I'm just glad we aren't the only ones arguing because of that.

hahaha I know right! I am glad you can relate. I feel lucky that we were able to find a way to work it out but it took a lot go fights for us to get there! To be fair, I did have to to meet him in the middle somewhere because it was unfair to expect him to change completely because of me. Good luck!

I think 23 is a good ago. It shows that you're responsible young adult. So is 30.

Love love love. Your videos are so helpful!! My boyfriend is talking proposing and taking me to Japan with him. Would you make a video on the process of getting married in the military and what you went through getting your military ID? Are you familiar with the navy base in Japan?

I am not familiar with the Navy base in Japan (I only know about the Marine Corps Bases) ,but it should be a cool experience! And to get your military ID, your boyfriend would need to go to IPAC with supporting documents to tell them you are married. You can find that information online. Then you go to DEERS to get your ID. I will probably do a military spouse Q&A soon and can talk more about the process of military marriage then! Until then, Google is surprisingly helpful.
