Hi Liya love your channel and brand; the grape rewine cleansing jelly is soooo good❤. I was thinking of these topics Snail mucin, leather production, wool production, are designer brands better quality and is the price worth it, how do you know a clothing brand is actually sustainable(what should you look for),peptides hype, upcycling products or bi products for another product and how important it is to make sure all parts of products is being used up(like how you guys used the grape from the wine industry), how important it is to cut down on animal products because of the over production of the dairy and meat industry, skin whitening in all cultures, should saffron be this expensive, clean beauty and are there some clean brands that are actually great and do a stunning job at formulation and effectiveness(I believe not so much in labeling but in the ingredients whether a brand is clean or not does the ingredients and formulation match my skincare wants and needs and cruelty free and vegan labeling(is it better to be both or one is good enough or none at all like cerave isn't cruelty free but they are very effective and people use them alot.
Your videos are always so informative, thank you so much for educating us about the BTS of the beauty industry, exposing superfluous marketing schemes ❤ protecting woman & the planet, one video at a time 👏🏼🌱
I LOVE your channel! Gosh the educational value itself is priceless. You’re my favorite kind of teacher! You just do a great job to keep engagement without probably realizing it. ❤
🎉🎉 You did this topic justice. Thank you for putting this information into a more digestible format, for giving alternatives to collagen, and for letting us know that synthesized collagen is on the way! As for the advice to keep taking collagen because it doesn't do any harm, the only harm it *doesn't* seem to do is to people's skin, end of list, and if it causes inflammation in the body, then that absolutely aids in the ageing process. Seems like it's a "beauty is only skindeep" mindset when it comes to collagen. Loved this video. I hope you're well. Congrats on the re-launch of your sunscreen
Thank you Liah. I take collagen not for my skin but for my joints. I have arthritis in my knee and it’s less painful and I haven’t had to take medication or put on steroid lotion on it as much. But when I saw the deforestation the brand I use is causing I will look for another brand. Keep these videos coming, I learn so much from them. ❤
Beauty at what expense? I couldn't get the images of those animals out of my mind. Thank you for your informative videos. Even though you work in the beauty industry and you could do what others are doing, you are conscientious. Keep up the good work and make a positive influence in this world, one video at a time!
Ok, here's a prospective from someone who is 70. I use collagen powder every day. A dear friend who is a farmer had terrible bruising on his arms. He said that his skin was like tissue paper. I sent him some collagen powder and over time his skin became less fragile. Other friend did not the think that the collagen powder was doing anything for her. After she stopped taking it, she said her joints became achy. My hair is very thick & my nails grow so fast that I must cut them weekly. I love your alter ego. Thanks
@@PiKelso Vital Proteins Collagen peptides unflavored. I am not fond of chocolate because of the stevia. Any alternative sweeteners tastes bitter to me. It's on sale at Costco 4/12.
I mix collagen powder in my coffee every morning during breakfast then drink Vit C right after eating, they work best together. WORKS AMAZING! All the discoloration, uneven lines, even the pores become smaller, skin looks more moisturized, and there's that glow. What i take is marine collagen targeted mainly for skin. However, you need to take collagen alongside Vit C, because you probably won't see much effect with collagen alone. Also it must be hydrolyzed so your body can digest it efficiently.
Since Jan 2023 I’ve been taking Landish Pure Canadian Marine Collagen in my morning coffee. The greatest improvement has been with my joints (knees and wrists) and an overall improvement on my mood (placebo effect?). For those reasons I keep taking it.
Very much anecdotal evidence but I have taken collagen supplements for my hair and there definitely has been an improvement so I am open to using them again.
From my experience it worked while using it. After I stopped using, the effects were less visible. But I don’t think they are harmless to body since when I use it on a daily basis I felt pain in my kidneys? So I only use it occasionally. I feel like eating good and clean is way more healthier 😅 supplements are not that innocent. My thoughts only😅😅
hey liah xx thank you for this video what are your thoughts of e.g: mixed berry juice 'supplements' , in small daily sachets to just tear and drink straight away and is said to contain a mixture of berries and "collagen" which gives and boosts clear and even skintone. hoping for ur reply x
Could you make a video introducing a brand that makes quality, sustainable skincare products? I'd like to shop more sustainably and support responsible brands, but I don't really know where to start.
Thanks for the information,, i am in my 30s and i wondering if i need collagen supplement or not,, currently i’m just having fish oil supplement. Could you do more content about suplement,, thanks
Thank you, Liah :) Maybe a stupid question, but can I take both collagen for skin and collagen for joints at the same time? I am also taking fish oil, so I don't want to mix something I am not supposed to.
@@LiahYoo Thank you very much! :) I was wondering about this since I read that Type I collagen is mainly for skin and Type II for joints. I was not sure if I need to take both or just one is fine.
Thank you so much this helped alot, because today my mom and i were talking about this word collagen and i heard this for first time and i didnt knew and i asked my mom alot of times but she explained but still i couldn’t understand in my own language so now i saw this video its like a sign thank you :)
ngl I've been making matcha collagen lattes for 2 years now and I love it! I buy the iherb collagen powder which checks off some points from your video! 3rd party tested, uses hydrolyzed marine collagen, and it has vit c and hyaluronic acid for max absorption and beenfits I noticed that my nails are stronger and dont have those white dots anymore and my skin is plumper and my forehead wrinkles are way less noticeable. But I will say that I dont notice any major difference in my hair but its definitely NOT causing any harm which is great. imma keep using collagen tbh there's enough pros and no cons in my experience
I just take it for extra protein and it gives my coffee some body as I cant have dairy products and veggie tastes like sand. I also think its really helped my digestion. Better gut health will equate to better overall health. Common sense. I buy mine in the bulk bins next to all the chocolates and flours and stuff. $17/lb. Its sold more as a food more than a supplement. Is there a line to toe? Is there a food version vs supplement version? You can even buy it with an EBT card and you cant buy supplements with EBT. I notice i dont need my retinol acne cream as often either. But i think dairy flares up the acne more than anything. Seems little taste is too much.
Yeah we Chinese have been eating donkey collagen snacks for hundred if not thousands of years. I tend to think it does work. And they also put black sesame, dates, goji berries and walnut, brown sugar in it. (But collagen peptides are better as the donkey snacks are made with just donkey gelatin.) Also Dr.Dray put out a video recently mentioning a bunch of recent research. Recommend that video too.
I have severe arthritis in my knees and feet and started a collagen supplement about 9 months ago not for skin but for arthritis and feel like it has helped with the pain I have every morning. I am a person who doesn’t believe anyone about ANYTHING so I never expected anything to happen with my skin but I feel like my skin has been alot better looking? I can’t say it’s from the supplement though 100% maybe it’s because of my constant usage of sunsvreen or using a retinoid for a decade so who knows! Now-I did not realize it is contributing to the deforestation in Brazil and other areas. 😳 this is something near and dear to me and can’t believe I didn’t know this. I guess I’m done with the supplements. 😢 better me than the amazon forest and animals
A lot of the hype around collagen is complete nonsense. However, marine collagen is the best supplement I have ever taken. I am an ex-ballerina who had to stop because of a serious knee injury. The pain was indescribable and I couldn't walk at all for 3 months, and for the year and a half after I couldn't do much walking at all and I had intense, chronic pain. I finally gave in to the hype around marine collagen for joints and it has changed my life! Within a few days, it felt like there was actually something hugging my knee joints together instead of bone grinding on bone. Nearly a year later and I'm walking, I'm doing yoga, I'm running, I'm swimming, I'm going to the gym, I can bend down to pick something up, no pain! In terms of skincare, the skin on my body does seem a little more supple but in terms of joints and injuries it's worth a try!
This seems messed up when we don't eat the animal whole along with the contaminants but have to pass his skins through a high tech laboratory to create an ultra expensive powder. Seems that normal gelatin has also risen in price in supermarkets. One of those small pills won't make a big difference if you need 70-100g of protein in total.
Great video, but the thing that struck me the most is that you’re reaching YOUR MID 30s??!!?!?! Wow. Can we get an overall diet video please (diet as in your lifestyle diet)
If collagen is a protein, when you ingest it don't you break the collagen into amino acids? And if so, isn't it the same as ingesting any other kind of protein? Also, the protein is not small enough to get through the skin and be absorbed by it. That's the one thing that have always made me sceptical about collagen.
@@nikiasublett8916 I read the article mentioned in the video. But that's just one study. In my opinion we need more studies around this matter. At the end of the day hydrolised collagen is just raw material for ours cells to produce their own collagen. Just eat health and use sun screen wich are methods we know for sure can help with your skin health overal. I'm not saiyng I'm aganist the usage of hydrolised collagen. It's safe and do no harm. But it's our money... we work hard for it.
I am Vegetarian but eat plant-based - mostly vegan. I caved and bought some collagen and feel bad about it. I put less than half a scoop in my smoothies. I only notice a difference in my nail strength and hair growth. My skin hasn't shown much visible difference which is why I got it initially. I definitely interested in legit Vegan collagen that would be incredible. I thought it was a byproduct so hearing it is contributing to deforestation and more unnecessary death is not good. I will not be buying it again, I will just make what I have last
@@mexicanpandaismex3 🌺Yes Liz, everything is so expensive. I also like to add bone broth to soups or anything that I cook that has a type of sauce or gravy. It's good especially for the elderly, I'll add it in with their meals.😉
I’m lucky to have a mom who makes bone broth for me then I just freeze it. As I have ulcerative colitis I make soups once in a while with the broth and it’s so good for your intestines. I prefer to make my own chicken bone broth as I can eat the meat as well but when my mom makes it she uses red meat bones. I get some people are vegan and some don’t have time to make it, but I rather make my own and know what I eat than take powders. Same with thise viral green powders…
@@LiahYoo I swear every time I have bone broth my inflammation in my body calms down. At least I get to use the entire animal for my health:/ I go for organic chicken though as I HOPE it`s more "pure" >_
But be cautious tho. The concentration of collagen in bone broth is actually quite low. It works better as a calcium supplement or just a source of protein than a collagen supplement I think.
I got that specific brand BECAUSE it's made from cows and not marine durived which is the worst, fish are the water filters of our heavily polluted oceans. I eat nothing but steak too, grass fed if I can find it.
And, you know(?) one can make their own bone broth, this is an ancient traditional food, most of our ancestors ate "nose to tail", meaning they used the whole animal rather than eating/buying the components like muscle meat, collagen powders, etc.
@@MorningClarity I think that’s just cuz there wasn’t an industry back then. But bone broth is a good source of calcium and protein. However I think collagen concentration is too low. It’s bone broth. Beef tandon, chicken feet, on the other hand are a bit better than bone broth as collagen supplement.
I was hoping your research would be a guide on this contraversial subject and was ready to take notes, but for the first time, I found your research insufficient and honestly I'm a bit dissapointed :/
Collagen has done wonders for my grandmothers knees. With age, she has lost a lot of cartilage in her knees. Which brings her a lot of joint pain. I get her collagen all the time 🫶🏼
