@Walkintall there were sooo many trailblazers before Elvis-- Little Richard, Fabian, Buddy Holly, Bill Hailey & the Comets & there were others.. Their problem was, they were either black or lacked the stage presence of Elvis. Lets face it, little white girls could NOT fawn all over Little Richard and Buddy Holly was a dorky looking poindexter. Bill Hailey was roley poley and then here came Elvis...with his thick black hair, sultey voice & pelvis jirations and THAT was the appeal of Elvis, IMO. I mean, what, he had maybe 3 good songs? And yes, Im entitled to my opinion
Little Richard was the true king of Rock n Roll. He had his music stolen, was grossly underpaid, and had a wonderful voice whether it was his deep baritone voice or his raspy/high pitched vocals. He was hilarious in Martin and he was multitalented. May he Rest In Peace.
That was the best comment I read yet! Completely agree with you. It's a shame this world usually doesn't appreciate somebody till they're gone. Especially if they're black or a woman. I'm am an Aryan Nation looking white boy blonde hair blue eyes but I'm as non-racist as they come. Racism to me is the sign of an uneducated stupid mind. Well mainly just stupid because I've met a lot of educated people that were racist and that just makes no sense to me.
@@caramelrhapsodyjesseslife I knew it would be an ignorant person in the comment section.....u obviously are not of the culture. Stfu "4eva" please. It was an inside joke idiot!🤦🏾♀️🤦🏾♀️🤦🏾♀️🤦🏾♀️
Bless you dear Little Richard. I have lived you all of my life. I love your hair, sparkly shoes, flamboyant suits and your freaky hair. The more freaky, the better. Never have I had the desire to put you down . You stay special in my heart and I sincerely thank you for all of your hard, hard work.
He was the original glam rocker before David Bowie, The New York Dolls, Elton John and Alice Cooper were even a blip on the radar screen! It'll truly be a sad day when he finally shuffles off this mortal coil!
Freddie Mercury wanted to be Little Richard and Queen performed Tutti Frutti live on stage from their earliest show in 1973 all the way until their very last concert in 1986.
Yes, I'm still sad, we lost a musical genius, a great loss to the music industry. He is truly a Legend, the original architect (as he would say) of Rock and Roll, the original King of Rock n' Roll. RIP dear friend.🕊👍💗
Love the respect you all are showing Richard. I'm 55 now, and met "Little Richard" when I was about 13. It was a trip. I was playing piano while my mom and I visited a family after church. He was there. He came out and said I could play for him, if I wanted to. I knew mama wasn't going for that. Instead, the accapella quintet I was singing with ended up traveling and opening for him at various preaching engagements. Richard and I kept in touch thru the years. Occasionally I'll call to check on him cause I know he's getting on up there in age. I think I'll call him now. 🙄😁
Little Richard changed my life when, as a London teenager attending a strict school, in 1957 I heard 'She's Got it'. Something about that song liberated me. I realised that there is more to life than discipline and cruelty. There was rebellion and FUN! I left school, joined the Merchant Navy and danced my way around the world. Zero regrets.
Right, glad I grew up in the 60's with the best music ever, that changed the culture and world during that time. And the pioneers, the musical giants like Little Richard, a true Legend in his own right, who paved the way for many in the music industry. May you RIP now.🙏😓😍🕊
Agree, he was definitely ahead of his time, the embodiment of musical creative genius, with many obstacles during his childhood. But had faith and believed in himself, he was very strong and a good person. So glad I got to meet him at San Francisco's Opera House after his show. A truly sincere and genuine guy. RIP, the world has lost a great pioneer of Rock n Roll.😓💖🕊
I feel bad among how he says he was treated by his family. But as for as Little Richard "chasing" after other people. That would make him a predator. But I don't think that is what so many of th PC people would admit. He was DISGUSTING. And yet made out to be some sort of brave person.
Was it the 90's he came out with that Metal Album? Not like he was hiding what he did, he was just playing a different "flavor". Hate the race baiting bs
What a unique largely misunderstood man. He looks unrecognizable now but he’s still here amen 🙏🏿. I wonder how he’s making 💰💴 💵 now. Always wished he and Tina collaborated more.
Watching this I learned more than I wanted to know about Little Richard. I'll try to forget everything I just heard so I can keep enjoying his music without being distracted by images of him pooping in a box and gift-wrapping it.
@@kungfutzu3779 But still why TELL us about it? We all did gross things when we were kids. I'd rather focus on the creative work he's done as an adult.
I mean his style reminds me so much of Prince. So wild and in your face lol. Got to love the ones who march to the beat of their own drum.....the beautiful ones.
@@IamGaby you made my day 😊🤩💖❤😍 I was just watching the'76 debate on the ERA (Equal Rights Amendment) between (my favorite) Betty Freidan vs. Phyllis schlalfy
Shock Well- His combined those aforementioned artists to create his own sound and he had better business acumen as well ... I wasn’t so keen on how he treated Marvin Gaye’s daughter and how he didn’t always give his band members full credit on a lot of his hits... He was a flawed genius...
In 1972 I was picked up every Saturday morning in Scarborough Ontario Canada for hockey "Hall of Famer", Brad Park's - Hockey School, in Agincourt Ontario. The guy who drove had an 8 Track and every Saturday morning was Little Richard. The driver was a brother and he liked me and could see how much I loved LR's music, so he picked me up first and dropped me off last and I always sat up front in the bucket seat. I was 10 years old and that was 47 years ago and no matter where I may be, as soon as this musical geniuses music comes on, I am transported back to that incredible time. I wish that I could say thanks to the van driver, for laying this ass kicking, soul reviving music, on this 10 year old White boy. I believe he was aware, of what he was doing. God Bless Little Richard and forgive us for our sins.
I saw Little Richard 3 times in concert. He was a fantastic performer who always gave his audience a great show. I also met him twice after concerts. One of those times he gave me a little book of inspirational thoughts, autographed by him. Richard was a wonderful person who truly cared about his fans. I will always remember him fondly. God bless his soul.
Thank U for this beautiful tribute to Little Richard, he's one of the greatest artists ever. Though I knew most of this things, is very kind to watch this, in times when Little Richard is unfortunately somehow forgotten and underrated. And it's also obvious that Little Richard inspired Prince, cause we can notice similarities between their stage persona (image, moves, facial expressions, outfits, make up, hairstyle etc.). Love them both, they both are equally great.
Richard and Prince were very good friends and Prince emulated Richard. Richard also was close with Michael Jackson and is still a close friend to the Jackson family. He is a wonderful and compassionate man
The reason Richard made that wonderful present for his neighbor, is because he claimed she always use to tell on his activities getting him in trouble at home... Then smile and wave at him as if she did no such thing... So the present represented pleasant on the outside... deplorable on the inside. Perfect gift!! 🎁
I grew up listening to the greats and Little Richard was one of them. "I Saw Her Standing There" was a Beatles hit. I just heard Little Richard perform it. I think he could have taught those boys a thing or two.
Saw him at a rock festival in 1970. I was on psilocybin. I dont know what he was on. He was all glitter in a long green dress and he just kept yellin at us to shut up. What a trip
@@jerulew3547 Because the drug enhances reality not distort it. And he kept reminding us he was little richard. And the fact I knew before hand he was gonna be there. On the otherhand, it could have been a fantastic hallucination...hmm
Rest in peace, Little Richard! Sadly he passed away from this world today. He left a legacy behind and will be long remembered! My condolences to his family and friends. Lived: Dec 05, 1932 - May 09, 2020 (age 87)
I got to see Little Richard perform about ten years ago and it was amazing. The man was in his wheelchair wearing gorgeous clothing and giving attitude. He's an amazing performer for sure. ❤
Well he was very old about 84 then, had been very ill, lives in the south where there is sun, and he no longer wore makeup, so there it is the real man.
He’s a much older man now than when he was young life changes you and he had changed and gave his life to Jesus.he admitted to being homosexual, the drugs and orgis.he said he didn’t realize a lot of his wrong til he started reading the Bible and admitted he needed money reason for flip flopping back and forth between religion and rock and roll.
I went to school with his daughter. Yes he had a daughter name LaRhonda and his ex wife or daughters mother was a teacher. He came to East St. Louis Il. and picked her up from school with lots of gifts. Glad to know he repented of his sins
@@tlmurry85Well if you look in Hebrews it says once you willfully sin then there is no salvation. You still doing?. It's to many contradictions in the Bible. We do know that there were religious txt that predate the Torah and Bible by thousands of years. One of them the 42 laws of Maat from which the Ten commandments plagerized from. Jeshua not Jesus never died on the cross. Look up the Real Merkabah " Biblical prophecies" Bring your Bible too. I deal with ration reason, science, spirituality and facts. Faith can't be proven. I would educate you more but it'll make your head spin and all you will do is prosylitize me. As if you know my status with the Creator. Oh yes there is a Creator but it's not in that Bible.
I'm a indie publicist in Nashville and I'm the PR agent for an event honoring him October 5th here in Nashville. The Alumni Association of Fisk University's Jubilee Singers are honoring him and I'm SO excited to meet him! Such an honor!! He's 🗣️THEE ARCHITECT OF ROCK & ROLL! PERIOD!! 👏🏾👏🏾💫
@Fuzzy Butkus i don't care if its creepy or not. Its a momento of a music legend. Someone saved a cup Elvis drank from, and people save pieces of hair. This isn't any different. I just keep it in my safe
Especially in understanding how the industry was really stacked against others who do not understand! He was definitely a man of honest and direct situations.
Elvis Presley was a way more versatile singer than little Richard Little Richard was a great Rock and roller and Pioneer of rock and roll that can't be debated but Elvis Presley was way better vocally than Little Richard both were great love them both respect them both but Elvis was the best
Thank you that made me laugh and I completely agree. Talking about the king of rock and roll and that soundtrack sucked I've heard better stuff on an elevator
@@alabamahebrew It's because rock n' roll is nothing more than R&B(Soul music) with a little more rhythm and is only one of the many styles of 'Soul' music to us Black Americans. This is why most R&B(Soul) artist have some of what White Americans would call 'Rock' music mixed into their songs or mixed into their lineup. To Little Richard it was 'Soul' music. Which an artist would include other genre's of soul music like gospel, doo wap, jazz, and etc. Black Americans made their own doors into the mainstream anyway because long before white Americans heard of the music we were already rocking to it. You forget there are millions of Black Americans too.
wow!! This was great information, because they don't talk about Little Richard like that!? I know he's an awesome performer but it's always been an enigma around his life and career, and no I didn't watch that horrible movie. Excellent work!! 💯
Some years back, in UNION CITY, CA., there was a tent with the sign, 'Little Richard Gospel'. He was there for a long time preaching. NOW, WHY DIDN'T I STOP!. I ALWAYS LIKED HIM!
I saw little Richard in ladera heights in California at a restaurant, his body guards wouldn't let me say hi or take a picture with him unless I would pay for it.........please I'm good
I've always noticed Michael Jackson even kind of resembled little Richard during his twenties …. (with that clean mustache and makeup ) probably not a coincidence ??
@@@meljones9793 it's not meant to be a diss. You may not be a little Richard fan but, Michael Jackson (along with many brilliant artists) did take influence from artists that came before them. Even though Michael only mentioned James Brown and Fred Astair, I think he got some lil Richard vibes too... Even though the two are completely different....
Little Richard and My Dad, Aunts and Uncles grew up together in Macon, Georgia. He would always invite my Dad and Mom to his concerts whenever he had a concert in my hometown of Buffalo, N.Y.
Little Richard is an original rock n roll pioneer without question. As far as Elvis Presley, he did his thing as a rock n roll artist, but was he a rock n roll originator, No 😮😮😮
Ike Turner's "Roket 88" is thought to be the 1st. rock song. Him, with Carl Perkins, Litle Richard, Chuck Berry, The Killer, and Elvis all had pretty much an equal hand in developing R&R with the help of Sam Phillips/Sun Studios, Memph. Tenn.
I really need to stop clicking on Grunge clips. They're always critiquing people or situations that were a certain way and not in step with the current overpreachy times. If Richard Penniman had a normal life, we probably wouldn't have the classic music he has shared with us. Struggling motivates one to rise above situations.
His first solo release might've been in '55 on Specialty Records, but he recorded with a group on the Houston, Texas "Peacock" label with the Tempo Toppers in 1954. He also had some later releases on Peacock, such as "Maybe I'm Right", for example
@MOE ORLESS thank you Little Richard and Chuck Berry couldn't touch Elvis Presley they don't realize Elvis's musical Inspirations & Style started way before I even heard about Chuck Berry and Little Richard both of them are great what did nothing nothing compared to Elvis Elvis had way more Charisma and was way more talented as a singer than both of them Elvis touched more genres of music then both of these guys and sang in way more voices than they did Elvis stands alone in the music industry and entertainment world thank you
I met Little Richard at the White Plains Deliverance Center in Mount Vernon Ny when he was on a Speaking / Preaching tour in 1979 no make up etc. He wore a 3 piece suit and gave his testimony.. Thats the thing when you meet celebrity face to face tgey are regular people but seem to be tormented and in some cases double minded he seemed to be a nice person..
I have always loved Little Richard! He is one entertainer who can get you on your feet to sing and dance. I love his makeup. His eyeliner was amazing. ❤️🌹❤️
He is the only performer that passed out Bibles at an opened performance he did in southern california. He also had an autograph picture inside. Was a very nice gesture. If he reads message i just wanted to thank him. The concert was amazing no one was sitting standing and moving to the music.😃
