@@AfrikanHairGodI did some research and alot of it stated the overall health of your body will affect hair growth . I believe that’s what they mean by drinking water to help .
@Sherell Jasper It is more like a conditioner with 1 surfactant or gentle surfactants. It is more on the gentler side. More conditioning agents then cleansing agents. Some co washes don't even having cleansing agents so it is best just to stay away from them. Just use a moisturizing shampoo. Hope that helps.
I once met a guy who had long hair that was extremely thin and full of breakage. I asked him his routine and he told me he moisturized with coconut oil. I had to explain to him that oil is not moisture and his hair was extremely dry. He just sat there looking at me dumbfounded. Our first time meeting was our last.
I think most people are taking this out of context. BGC advocates against oils and butters and not washing your hair as you just stated. They are trying to get black women to "wash your damn hair". Lots of naturals use oil and butter in place of water. BCG is not against oil and butter that is formulated for hair, they are against raw oils and raw butter which according to them sits on top of the hair because the molucules are too large to penetrate the hair shaft.
I knew it! There was a group of people on Twitter trying to shame me for using oils and butters in my air all to push their own products THAT HAD OILS IN IT when they claimed there were none! Being ganged up on like that was just horrible.. they tried everything under the sun to convince me even laughed and shamed me for making my own hair products that I KNEW FOR A FACT worked for my hair. These natural hair stylists on social media that said you don’t need butters and oils and that you just need water are lying through their teeth! Because if you say oh ok, they try to push other products to you. And there were a few of them that tried to tell me that our ancestors didn’t use butters or that just because they used them doesn’t mean we should and that our hair I suppose to be dry! NO! Oh no no no! Thank you sir for all that you do shutting this bs down one video at a time ❤️
Glad someone said it. Been braiding since i was a child and folks drove crazy with the “my hair always dry” shenanigans but refused to splash water on it!! Just askin to be a brittle hair baldini
It's also very contradicting. One time i saw a curly hair specialist on Twitter say "the only time I use oil is for cooking"...... But it's in your conditioner, your gels, your mousse, and your body lotion!
(Not justifying but) That part is actually just misinformation. They’re not entirely against oils and butters-they’re against *too much.* Too much meaning, oil and butters straight from the jar and/or oil and butters being in the first 5 ingredients of a product. They recommend products they have oils and butters in them.
I think that was intentional because that's the point. It's already well formulated into those products so adding more to "moisturize" is redundant. We don't need to! Just shampoo weekly, condition and style your hair. Also dry your hair under a dryer or with a diffuser
I was born in Virginia in the 60s! Those old stylists didn’t want to do my hair so I thought that I had bad hair. I grew up to realize that “Water hair “ only meant that I had natural hair and they didn’t want to ruin it with a lot of heat. They would tell my mom to just wet it and put some grease on it!
The natural hair community can make stuff way to complicated! I have low porosity 3c4a hair using the LCO method. I use a leave in then good old fashioned hair grease water and a brush with a twist out! Boom I’m good for days. Refresh with water and and grease and my hair is lovely!
My whole life black people would say I think I’m white because I spray my hair daily. Yet, my hair grows long and healthy??? Never had an issue with breakage or anything. Our hair needs water!!!!
I need a video on this. I tried telling my cousin that my hair was growing fast when I started using water and oil on my hair. She said, “that doesn’t make any sense because water and oil don’t mix.” And I said, “I can’t explain how it works, but I see what it did for my hair.”
Listen Linda...been subscribed since forever. He's nothing but the "truth Ruth" ❤️💯❤️. His advice has facilitated my natural hair journey for over a decade...I am forever grateful @African Hair God
Thank you Sir, for saying this. I unsubscribed frim a few of those individuals who stated going on this no oil or butter journey. Wish them well. I will use all the oils, butters and water I need to grow my hair. 💛💚🖤🇯🇲🇨🇦🇯🇲
My 12 year old granddaughter did a lot of research on this and helped me with my natural hair! She showed me how to use water on my hair for the oils to work! That was 7 years ago and my hair has been good every since! No more dryness or breakage! ❤❤
@@TaitumNoChanning She told me that you have to know what your hair type is because it will determine the products that keep your hair healthy! She just graduated from cosmetology school and is waiting to take her state boards!
Thank you! I keep trying to tell people where I live that they can just put oils on dry hair. It’s not moisturizing your hair. It’s meant to seal moisture. They don’t listen.
For sure! Also check to see I you like in a "soft water" or "hard water area." It really, really makes a huge difference in managing your hair. I believe it's key! ✌❤
I just love you! I appreciate that you take the time to give accurate info about natural hair so many people speak on what they think but do no research to back up what they say!! Your appreciated 😊
When the hair grease thing came back it was so hard for Me to throw all my products away but I stuck with it so far even after my chop. I don't co wash anymore, and I've definitely stuck to my spray bottle L.O.C method for my low porosity hair and yeah 🤷🏿♀️ thank you for providing healthy and informative and accurate information about caring for natural hair ^.^
Child and I was this 👌🏾close to listening to the girls glad I’m sticking to what I already know 15 years in this natural game and loving it even more now that after going loced for 4 years and combining them out i can see my real texture and this hair not gonna make it without the oils and butters
I must be so far removed from the natural hair Community that I didn’t even know this was a thing. A stupid thing might I had. The oil/butter seals in the needed moisture!
And what do you think about these confused hearts that don't wash their hair at all. They only condition it then rinse it out. I can't see through that.
thank you for clearing out this for me..I just couldn't understand why oil would be a no no... everytime i used oiled in the past my hair was always easy to detangle and to avoid tangled...ever since I stopped oiling I had problems with knots which reduced my growth greatly...
All ima say is I never saw my hair pattern until I stopped using oils. For that reason alone I can never go back. Yes I still use products with oil- mostly mousses. My hair is easier to style now. Once I put my mousse on clean product free hair my curls pop and lasts for weeks. When I was doing the loc method I had to do twist outs that would frizz out before the end of the week and then I would have to retwist.
Thank u. I tell people this all the time...we were trained to be afraid of water growing up...cause our hair was pressed or permed ....I use a spay bottle of water daily.💚❤️🖤
I used to get irritated by the no oils no butters nazi attitude. later I realized that they misappropriated the recommendation of a curly stylist who advised her clients to get to know their hair instead of slathering it with product. Her original recommendation was that they take a TEMPORARY break for 30 days , while using recommended lighter product (which do contain oils and butters in them anyways🙄) . Anyways , some ignant netizens began to misinterpret the science behind it, and the no oils crew snowballed into the fascist army that terrorizes us in these internet streets.
@@thecure3982 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-eubldje5z1U.html curlmix on RU-vid. This is a video she made to explain how a 30 day recommendation turned into the worst game of telephone ever. 😅
I actually heard about no oils or butters from I think they’re called Black Girl Curls & they’re both licensed cosmetologist . Idk if I was just missing context as to why or what. Other things I learned from them really benefited my hair especially the better quality shampoo & conditioner & the right product and process for a wash n go. But I loc’d my hair and did go back to using some oil (jojoba) because I noticed how soft & moisturized it keeps my skin. And I always make sure its wet first!
We went from stop using hair grease to too use oil instead to now don't use anything. Yeah the natural hair community Doesnt know what it wants. As for me I love hair grease and should've never stopped using it when it always worked well for me and most black women.
It's water first then follow it up with an oil. Try grapeseed oil, sweet almond oil or jojoba. You can also use a butter like shea butter after to really seal in the moisture. 1. Water 2. Oil 3. Butter
The day I stop using oils, shea butter, and grease on my 4c hair is the day I turn into a white woman.... Grease literally changed my hair care life and I will not listen to anything anyone has to prove me wrong. ❤
LOL . Bc I know my hair gets very soft with a lil bit of argan oil or coconut oil with a spritz of water. And it makes the hair shiny. If yall not using butters and oils how ya'll moisturize? lol
GOSH, HELP ME, man, I don't mean to exhaust you. My momma and daddy saw fit to keep me relaxed or jcurl'd up from my like 10th birthday and I continued the abuse until my 4th decade of life. I'm still learning, my brother 😫
Thank God for RU-vid And men like yourself Who care enough to tell the truth I don't ditch to my hair and that's why I'm going to subscribe to you and join whatever I got to join cuz I need help 50 50 What do is wash a wood conditioner with the tresemic conditioner Put coconut oil and putting the braid or whatever sometimes I just Braid it up and then let it out so it could just be out and that's it I need to know what I need to do to keep it healthy and I really wish I could get my hair to grow out again usually it goes really long but I'm not I don't have nobody to trim it like I used to
I think thisis coming out of the wash and go scene. I went to a natural hair stylist becauze my hair is always dry and I wanted aupport on finding out why. She said it was because I was using oils and moisture couldn't get into my hair. Tbh i saw her twice and my hair has been more moistured but i dont think its due to the lack of oil. I think its because I now have a set wash day routine and a leave in that I'm using properly. Moral of the story I'm buying some oil on friday 😅
Man, you are so correct. Can I please bring grandson to your shop and set an appointment. Where are you. He has at least 24 inches of hair and his mother removed him from my care for 3 months and it screwed up his texture. He now has dandruff and is super tender-headed with me now. Help me!! Braids, not twists for him -- I think. We are open to your selection. Help us, help you!!
I didn't know folks were telling this lie. I mean we learned this in science. I like wetting my hair. I spray it with water or a refresh spray and twist with a butter or pomade every night.
