I live in the States and have been using the new Kirkland balls for several weeks now. I can't tell the difference between the old and new other than my drives might be I bit longer, but I like the Kirkland balls and will keep playing them. I do have PV1's and I really can't tell the difference.
I have been using the new version of the Kirkland ball for 2 months now. I am a 8.8 handicap and play 6 rounds a week. Love the ball it flies well of the tee and the response off the irons is very good. Ball spins well and has good feel off the putter. The biggest thing I have noticed is they seemed to have improved the cover durability. With the V2 I had a hard time getting more than 2 rounds before it was scuffed to the point where it was unplayable. The V3 I can regularly play the same ball for 3 or 4 rounds and it is still usable. Love playing against a ball snob who makes a joke about me not playing a premium ball and beating them and asking if they want to try a Kirkland.
100% agree! I'm a 9handicap and also been loving the Kirkland V3s. The V2s would scuff anytime I hit it with a sand or lob wedge, but the V3 cover would last me more than 2 rounds without any splintering scuffs
I've heard this. I've played the V2s and they do scuff easily. I'm from Canada so I haven't been able to compare, but I just brought a box back from the US, so we will see.
I like the V2 bec. they feel soft on the driver and they go far! I've read that the new V3 is a harder ball. I prob. will find a different low compression ball when the V2s run out.
James, I am a mid-handicapper and play the Kirkland as my gamer (TM Tour Response when I want to splurge). Testing the V2 and V3 on the course and with my Bushnell Launch Pro in the sim, I notice a slight drop in spin rates. The V3 also feels just slightly more firm, but still has a great feel. I am getting more run out with my driver and plenty of stopping power on the greens. It seems to be a perfect compliment for my game and a small, but welcomed, improvement over the V2. I have played about 15 rounds with the V3 to date. Thanks for the reviews and content!
I’ve also been playing the KSv3 this season and, while I haven’t done as deep comparison, I personally have noticed about 3-5 yards gain in distance and a much more controllable feel with the v3’s vs the v2’s. I’m also a mid-handicap who likes to play Bridgestone Tour B RX when I want to splurge.
I tried the Tour Response and lost 30 yards on drive compared to Pro-V1x. I found out with my swing speed with driver ~100 mph the Tour Response is not the correct choice for me. Pro-V1x is a bit firm for me, but until I find a ball I can use which I can benefit on greens and off tee I'm sorta stuck...
I always love the Kirkland content. I do play the Kirkland ball and love. The feature I love the most, is the ability to buy more rounds after a match. 😜
I’ve played both. V3 scuffs less but performs almost identically in all other aspects. When struck equally flush with driver or irons, V3 is more predictable and slightly longer. I’m guessing that’s because of slightly better (less) spin off driver and longer irons. Still the best value, semi-premium golf ball available.
You should have put a call out to your US viewers. I’m sure I could have bought them and shipped them to you for less than you payed. Haha in fact I bought some and I’m not in love with them. I just them to chip around the backyard now.
8:57 Appreciate this is a golf ball review and a good one at that but is no one talking about James's bunker shots? Consistently excellent!! Doffing my hat to you Sir.
MyGolfSpy drone on about these (v2) balls being "Too spinny" off the tee and terrible in high wind. Be good if you could see the spin numbers in the studio 👍👍 Edit: just seen you took them in at the end, interesting! great video James
I bought two boxes, 4 dozen, when they marked them down to $19.98 a box. I have a few year supply of the V2, so when they run out I'll be switching to the V3. No rush for this high handicapper.
I really enjoyed the feel of the Kirkland Signature. Short game, off the tee, I could live with it. For whatever reason - with mid to long irons...I was losing a club length with them (compared to the ProV1). Just my experience...but do love what Kirkland is doing here.
@@connorwagstaff2348 I stopped playing Kirkland balls, too much spin so lose 10 - 15 yards, I generally play the Tour Response now so I can save a few bucks over the TP5 and notice no difference
@@connorwagstaff2348Distance is overrated with irons. If you can hit down to a 6 iron then just take the longer club if you get really good results with the ball. Driver matters more
Costco balls consistently fly 10 yards short of Pro V1 for my irons. I play traditional lofted 718 AP2 Titleist forged irons, and naturally I fade the ball about 5 yards. I also notice putts coming up very noticeably short when using Kirkland when compared to Pro V1. Overall, this golf ball is a great entry level option for feel, but does not compete in my opinion with PRO V1, that's just my .02c as a single digit handicap.
IMHO, the ProV1 outperforms any ball. They are certainly longer than any ball I’ve played. But since I’m not spending $60 a box, I have to rely on found balls.
My kids used to get me a dozen ProV1 for Christmas. Two years ago they got me four dozen Kirkland balls and $5. I started playing them and now that’s all I play. I am a 8.8 handicap and play 6 times a week and yes they maybe a little shorter but I just went up a club.
@@richardtoms9161 that's fair! If you can get used to the length then go for it, as a pro v player of over 10 years, I genuinely can barely play them. All my yardages are off by like 5-10 yards haha
I'm a budget golfer, I never buy golf balls, instead I spent £12 on a powerful on sale UV torch. I play a round of golf then as it gets dark walk a couple of holes looking for balls. This usually nets me between 30-50 of the balls you guys lose. Thanks for that. I find so many balls I can have different balls for different courses. For example Pro v1's and cromesofts and other premium balls I use on wide open course where I'm less likely to lose any ( I'm 20 ish handicapper ). Kirkland are second tier balls in my mind and are used for tighter courses ect. I would happily game Kirklands if I was paying for my balls but find so many premium ball's I can kinda be a snob about it and play more premium balls. Overall though I would happily recommend the Kirklands.
Thanks for the presentation on the lower cost Kirkland Golf balls versus the premium (Pro Vs, Callaways) golf balls. The difference is price per dozen allows one to buy a beer from the cart ladies! Personally, I will keep buying the ProVs and skip the on course beers.
Really respect your club evaluation videos. Was a huge Adams fan back in the day. Please try to get your hands on the new Adams irons and give me your honest opinion for a 15 handicap weekend warrior. Forgiving???
Recently watched a video about the new Kirkland driver and irons. It was mentioned that yellow balls will also be released. I hope those rumors are true.
Since the original kirkland that got sued by titleist they have not been a good ball. They are way shorter than titleist balls and are way too soft. If you lose tons of balls then they are ok. For a better player losing 15 yards a driver over a titleist ball is not acceptable. There are many deals on titleist balls aswell when purchased online.
@@FlankerJackChannel Can't be true about the original kirkland as they were sued by Titleist who has their own factory. Now for version 2 and 3 of Kirkland balls who knows where they come from. Supposedly the new 2023-24 version of Kirkland has improved dramatically with greater distance and not as spinny.
@@nomorenonsense yeah, like I said somebody told me that once but haven't been able to confirm. I do enjoy using these balls and don't feel so bad when I lose a dozen of them a round
I love the Kirkland balls. Once you get used to premium urethane covered balls, there is no going back. These balls allow me to practice with a reasonably priced ball and pull out the premium priced balls for competitive rounds.
If I could see a white ball anymore I would definitely use the Kirkland ball. I am currently playing the Callaway super soft in red hoping that I will be able to follow the ball beyond 25 yards. At 72 my eyes, like my game, isn't what it used to be.
The neon yellow Kirkland is now available! I’m having a hard time tracking white balls myself, I think it’s time to switch. I can’t decide between pink, yellow, or the soccer ball style (they’re supposed to be super easy to track). What’s your experience with colors/patterns?
I got a couple of boxes of the v2 and found them too spinny with a fast swing speed, definitely lose some distance but they felt great and short game was great with them. They really can be a club shorter easily than other balls ive used in windy conditions!
Man exactly what I found. I even gave them to my brother who is slower speed and he lost a club and 15 yards from his driver too. The first kirkland made and got sued by titleist was good but since then they are garbage. The cult following for this ball are just inexperienced golfers who don't know any better
Same here. The Kirkland balls are mediocre at best. I use either the Srixon z star, or Bridgestone tour b xs. My club head speed is just under 110 mph when I’m fully warmed up. The Kirkland balls are probably lower compression, and thus being too spiny for higher swing speed players.
Agreed - My club head speed with driver hovers around 99-105 and I found the Kirklands easily ending up 15 yards shorter off the tees on my home course. Thats a full club more into small greens. Too spinny for me off the tee.
I always thought the v2 ball was too hard on the putter feel. That’s why I didn’t care for them. I’ll have my father-in-law buy a box and see if these have a little softer cover. From the looks of it, they produced the same ball, called it v3 and raised the price. 😂
There is nothing inherantly wrong with a packaging refresh after a number of seasons. I kinda like the nearly identical look...if it plays the same as the original, why not look the same. For a lot of us blokes out there trying to stay in double digits the value is quite genuine.
I have been using the version 2's since I still have a box and they really perform well and stopping power is amazing! Distance-wise, they are shorter than the ProV1X but not really that much. I like the feel on iron shots and short game. It absolutely feels good on the putter too. Haven't bought the version 3 though.
New box and same ball different dye oh and writing 😂. It's like Ben sayers irons they brought out the m15 irons and then the m8 irons exactly the same iron different insert . Calling all gullibles😂
Very little difference between V1 and V2. This V3 has very little feel and I'm not liking it. I will save the V3 for windy days.....where I think they will be better than V2.
I used version 2 since they came out had my first hole in one with them. Never had a problem but then I not stopping anyone using the ball they want too. For me it's all about cost.
I'm a 10 hcp and will not use a high spin tour ball like this. I am not good enough to work the ball and want a straight ball. This ball magnifies your accidental draws and fades. It seem strange they would have a ball built for low HCP golfers.
Well I didn’t know there was an old and new Kirkland ball. No Costcos in my town but sent my sister in law was able to get me a box. I think the ball is very good. Played 18 with the same Kirkland ball. (bucket list golf achievement) it was great to do it and that ball made it from the first tee box to the 18th green.
The new most lost ball in golf. No serious player plays a Kirkland. It has its place for the people that lose a dozen balls per round and I get that. Those people shouldn't be playing a decent ball. But otherwise, that is about it.
I use these bulls regularly because I'm not very good and I like the price. Not good enough to know the difference between balls but my chipping and putting feels good with them.
To bad we lost that first Kirkland ball ( Made in Korea very close to an older Taylormade model, now Taylormade owns that factory) So many direct to consumer balls now and all of them are very similar Vice, On-Core, Snell, Cut etc. so the ball manufactures send samples and those companies and Costco pick from very similar samples. Any of them are good, we are using Snell right now but Kirklands are being used by many with good results, and now in Yellow guys are going nuts for them around here.
Everyone is call this V3 except Costco. I believe they just had to get the ball made in a different plant, and changed the packaging. It doesn’t say it’s new version or updated in any way ( actually says the same exact thing as sown in the video). It seems everyone wants it to be a V3, but it never claimed to be.
You say your complaint about golf is the rising cost of equipment, Golf balls, etc. but mention nothing of the rising cost of a round of golf. Here, in Reno Nevada, rounds of golf have risen as much as 30% in the last year or two.
Should have asked - I’d have sent you some from Dallas. Although now Costco thinks it’s Christmas already so all the golf stuff has vanished from the stores. Been playing them for a few weeks. Not a huge difference other than none of the ballooning drives that the old one would do. Shorter and around green - not much difference. Still not quite a Pro V1 - which is my “not over water” ball. Oh - they also still don’t last as long as a Pro V1
i currently play the old kirkland ball.....so from watching the video i don't think i will be chasing the new kirkland ball....as you rightfully stated the old kirkland does everthing you wan't from the ball....and that is the same with me i am used to it's charactoristics.......😂
I bought over 150 pro v1 for 45p a ball.( Friend who dog walks in the bushes of golf courses, his kid got the cash)😂 Im good for a while i reckon but when im out ill go back to Kirkland.
i've been playing the Kirkland ball since the 2022 when i got my hands on the V2 ball, and for the price and performance, you literally can not beat the ball. i mean you are getting 2 dozen for less than the price of 1 dozen of similar urethane ball.
The different colours are just like food colouring...they change the colour but not the flavour ...those 2 cores could be identical just a different colouring used
I mostly buy re-washed or re-used balls (never refinished) and the newest models of these, the arrow differences are a bit like the Pro-v reincarnations...at least it's not worse...it's just a good value for money golf ball...!
My guess is that Costco doesn't have a whole lot of say into these balls. They are probably just a clone of some other ball you'd pay more money for - just change the dye colors, print Kirkland on the outside, and off you go. I use them and love them.
Will we ever get a collab video with LetsPlayThrough? That would be wicked. Also I just switched to the chrome soft x ls. Ball is an absolute monster off the tee. Spins well off irons and wedges too. Give it a shot.
James, Not sure if it has been updated recently but there was a lawsuit filed against Costco for the balls and the language used to describe them. I believe the new version is just a visual change to conform. Here in the states I can get a box of 24 for $25 USD. They play well enough and I save a lot compared to the normal 12 pack for $25 USD. Thank you for taking the time to test and share.
