It is very important to understand that every time the violence and killing started from the Pakistan side and the Hindus and Sikhs responded with killing in revenge. But who started it is important also. You can look it up easily. In Punjab, the violence started in March 1947 in Rawalpindi and Kahuta. But in Bengal the violence began in August 1946, known as Direct Action Day.
Btw today India has as many muslims as Pakistan has at 14% of the population and growing. But cannot say the same about Pakistan where Hindus, Christians and Sikhs are dwindling in numbers. Pakistan is 97%-98% muslim and isn't secular like India.
Hindus and sikhs were being massacred in Pakistan so they were fleeing through train but were caught by pakistani and killed in train there is also a movie on this train to pakistan you can watch it
In this country, what dictates more is your social culture n environment than religion. It depends upone where you live. One reason being the various influnces of various religions and ideologies on various places to varied degrees. Geography and environment also counds, and india happens to be strikingly diverse in these aspects.
What happened during partition was very gruesome, the details are horrifying especially if you’ll get to know plight of women. If one community wants to attack another community, they go for women first, it has been historically observed. During partition, people killed the women of their own family especially the unmarried daughters cause they wanted to protect their honour, honour of their family, cause the other side would have raped or killed the women of their family or would have forced them to convert and marry. And both the sides did this.
The Bengal province of India, was also divided. On based on Islam. The muslim majority part of bengal became a separate country Bangladesh, and the Hindu majority Western sider became a new State of India, West Bengal. I'm from Bengal... Our ancestors fled from Bangladesh during partition bcz muslims attacked the non-Muslims. Its always the muslim who 1st attack others. They destroyed many temples in Bangladesh. Not every Muslims r bad, but who r bad they r extremely bad, I have many Muslim friends from my childhood. Bcz my mother says watch the nature of ur friends not who they r. The Bengal region is historically and culturally Hindu and Buddhist. Total Bengal civilization is developed by the Hindus and Buddhists. But during the muslim rule in India, most of the Bengali people have to convert in Islam. Force convertion. Even these days non muslims population is rapidly decreasing in Bangladesh and Pakistan.
Hey bro Do you know that when Tripura Kingdom joined India in 1949 , the Tripuri people(Tibeto-Burman) became minority in its own land due to India' partition ? Lakhs of hindu refugees flooded Tripura for which the Indigenous people lost all political economic administration power to the refugees because in democracy the majority rules
Actually it was never about sikhs vs muslim but muslims vs sikhs & hindus. I am from bengali refugee family 3rd gen 😢😢😢 my ppl were killed in today's Bangladesh/ that time known as east pakistan
In the partition of India, especially in Punjab, Muslims were displaced in the highest absolute number. Then Hindus and then Sikhs. However as a percentage of total population in Punjab, Hindus were displaced the most. 47% of Punjabi Hindus lived on the Pakistan side.
Inyerestingly, cast system is still prevalent in pakistan, though now more in form of occupation. This thing aint specific to hindu anylonger in day to day life, even a sikh and muslim turns castist, or is abbused by castism outside prayer house. Its a social problem, being cured gradually.
I highly appreciate this content, Jimmy! I love how you captured the sentiment of this saddest history told by the old man who experienced the partition, but at the same time you offered hope by showing how positive the way young people think now! They are able to express their acceptance and tolerance for the differences among the religions despite the painful past. 🙏🏻🪷🙏🏻🫡
