There are still a lot of long time residents leaving to other states and this video goes through those reasons. Helps people decide if they can handle some of the negatives of living in Phoenix before they decide to move.
I lived in Phoenix for 15 years, sold my home 7 years ago and been living in Seattle ever since. More than doubled my net worth even though everything costs more. The money is sooooooo much better up here.
I tried to do the same in Massachusetts, but couldn’t get over the cold weather. I had to come back. How has the transition been for you with the rain and lack of sun?
Moved here in 1972. Pure Utopia. Today, it's a shit show. High speed vehicle accidents, and the crazies addicted to their smartphones. Narcissists to their 3rd Power. Pure Hell in the Summer. Home Prices and Rents are jacked. Crooked landlords and property managers using Algorithms to screw you with fees. When you move-out; bend over because you are going to get _crewed. No help from authorities when you get ripped off. 🤑🤑🤑🤑🤑
I've lived in Mesa for over 20 years originally from Chicago. I can say the biggest regret in my life is not moving out of Chicago sooner. Sure summers are hot but we have 8 great months here vs 3 OK months in the Midwest. Yes we have become unaffordable due to the influx of people escaping other places. Yes water will eventually become a problem. All and all I'm not saying this the best place to live but there are by far many worse places to live.
@@nuh-uhx2477 Healthcare is bad everywhere. I don't think we're better or worse than anywhere else. Luckily my family has been healthy and we don't have much of a need for doctors so I'm not really a good person to ask.
The real reason why people are leaving Phoenix Arizona is because of the disgusting house flippers, including individual house flippers and corporate house flippers such as Black Rock buying up affordable homes and turnng them into expensive rentals or expensive home purchases. Over the last two years, half of all homes were bought by private equity groups such as Black Rock, Blackstone, and Goldman Sachs. That's not even includung individual home flippers, which you seem to be according to your T-shirt. I believe this entire video is simply a cover that you are falsely displaying just to distract people from the real reason why people are leaving Phoenix Arizona, which is the disgusting house flipping activity. Real estate investors have become a huge disease in the United States.
Bingo. That goes for all of these others states as well. There's some truths to this video, but there's a LOT more as to the reasons why people are leaving here.
@YourPhoenixCityLiving Arizona is a transient state. People come and try it. Works for some and not others for a variety of reasons. Most the people I associate with went to school here and much more ingrained in the area. I hope all that leave never come back. It was much nicer 50 years ago.
When people leave Phoenix, they'll probably go to New Mexico. Thanks to booming oil production, the state will be transforming soon. NM is also the first state in the US to offer FREE university tuition, they started doing that in 2022.
New Mexico is trash. Nothing but drugs, drunk Indians, and a very poor job market. There's a reason it's never mentioned, and why most folks will just skip right on over to Texas.
Nothing Is "free." What you meant to say is this = NM is offering tuition subsidized by taxpaying NM citizens and subsidizing woke nonsense instruction.
We left 2 years ago, & we're coming back. Don't want those higher type jobs, it's just social security & the lower end of the spectrum. go try Colorado, if you're a young liberal democrat you'll fit right in with the Denver/ Colorado Springs metro. Just saying after being here for 2 years, it just wasn't for us, 25 yrs in AZ, it's good to get back home.
Thanks for sharing! I had a similar experience as an AZ native. We decided to move across the country just south of Boston to try something new. I found the people to be really nice, but it was too cold, no sun, everything moved too slow and it just wasn’t for me.
Same here. Sold my Tempe house in 2021. Moved to the midwest. Cost of living is lower for a reason. Moving back to east valley by this fall. Lived in Denver in the 90s. So sad the direction that state has gone in.
make up your mind booming or leaving. don't come here. at 110 deg in the summer I wouldn't go out often either, a/c rules. Years ago, everyone with allergies were told to move to Toucan, it allergy city.
I’m seeing a lot of long term residents leaving, but so many from other states moving in. The allergies have gotten much worse over the last 10 years or so. I always keep Benadryl on standby lol
I think it’s important for people to know not only the good things, but also the bad things about an area before committing to a move. I did a cross country move once and I was blindsided by all the things I didn’t know about the area and way of life. It was a rough experience.
Move out to the suburbs? Have you driven through Queen Creek lately? It's as bad as central Phoenix. Maricopa County was at 2.1 mil 1988, and we're at 4.6 mil now, with nothing stopping the growth (except hopefully water restrictions). But the developers and the chambers of commerce sure are happy.... mission accomplished!
I lived in Phoenix for over 6 years and it’s bad. 118 degree July days. The bland landscape and cookie cutter city design, lacks character. The extreme wind guts in August. Don’t get me started what happened 1/25/2021 and also they had to gut the entire street power grid on the street after a 50 year old underground power line failed. A worst case scenario. Sure it was only one street but why mine? While it was summer. Having to replace every plugged in electronics, all the wires, all the outlets, the entire circuit breaker the transformer the main line and all other lines is a nightmare, complete and total collapse of the electrical grid on that street. But as bad as that was, there was still one thing that was worse. The air quality. Do not live out here in winter. All the chimney smoke getting into the house
High paying jobs? The job market here is a joke. Most jobs are very low paying. Most of the higher paying ones, are typically physical labor jobs; or warehouse stuff. Even stuff that requires a bachelors, is not that high paying, though not really competitive, since most natives here don't have the skills.
It all comes down to the industry. But, there are many jobs in all of the cities here compared to other parts of the country where you have to drive to the main cities to get a decent job. Thank you for your comment.
So what is it??? Leaving or not??? You say that there are so many people moving here way more times then you say they are moving out. I have lived in Arizona since 1975 and have seen Phoenix do nothing but grow. To much even. I wish over half would move the hell back to where they came from. Or anywhere else but here. Thank you!!!
I wouldn't come here in Massachusetts we are loaded with illegal immigrants crazy high taxes schools going to hell and high crime bad policing. It's nuts in the last 3 years
Phoenix is nothing but a concrete jungle. Too many transplants, hot as hell in the summer, crime, overcrowded. Hated it. Moved to Tucson instead. Smaller city, a little less hot. Stay out of downtown though. Too many illegals, homeless, crime. Don't come here with your democrat thinking. It's bad enough. But overall, I enjoy living on the outskirts of Tucson.
North side of the city. Up by Saddlebrooke, right next to the Catalina mountains. Very quiet up here, not much goes on. Love it!@@YourPhoenixCityLiving
Here is a list of population of Phoenix since 1960. How could one say that everyone is leaving Phoenix when the population is growing consistently, and Phoenix is the 5th largest city in the USA? Year Population Growth Rate (from previous year in table) 1960 439,170 311.1% 1970 581,572 32.4% 1980 789,704 35.8% 1990 983,403 24.5% 2000 1,321,045 34.3% 2010 1,445,632 9.4% 2020 1,608,139 11.2% 2023 (est.) 1,650,070 2.6%
Too hot. Lack of water long term. Overpriced stucco boxes for homes. Lack of high paying jobs. Lost its charm with all the transplants moving in. PS and the air quality is really really bad nowadays.
