The Tufty Club 

Loved Tufty as a child. Watching it now I feel so sorry for Willie Weasal. He needs some safeguarding interventions, I would be doing a referral if he was in my class!

Tufty always asks his mummy to accompany him to the ice cream van. Tufty is 47.

Thanks for posting, very nostalgic! As a 6 year old pupil back in 1966 in the Bradford UK area, I recall a Tufty club presentation at my school. I received the badge and believe the instruction saved many lives. If I recall, about 1967/8 there was a Labour government initiative to adjust the time of day by 1 hour later. Going to school wearing a visibility bib just like all the other kids, for while became the norm. Given the increased morning hours of darkness versus an evening of longer daytime hours was a recipe for traffic casualties I guess, especially for children. Back then most kids walked to school, hence the visibility bib. However, I don't know the order of implementation of action and as to why in the first place the there was a directive for such an obvious risk to pedestrians and drivers. Hail Tufty!

I remember getting the Tufty Annual once year for Christmas. It had a picture on the cover of Tufty riding a tricycle. In one of the stories inside, Willy and Harry nearly burn the house down by lighting the candles on the Christmas tree. Naughty Willy and Harry.

I watched tuftey as a seven year old child back in 1980.

Willie should've quit his job the first time he was mown down. Lesson learned. They should've started the story with "Willie is not the full Schilling"!

Memories, we had books of Tufty. In "Life on Mars" Annie being dressed up as him was a nice touch to the story.

Thanks for posting; I was in the Tuffty Club. Im now 60yrs old. Pity one of my friends didnt join, i saw him run over by a car, he was playing chicken, running accross the road dodging cars. He survived minus his spleen and i all my life have been very anxious when crossing roads.

That Willie Weasel is a right div. He used to have a normal sized neck but he's been mangled and crushed that often he's turning into a giraffe.

I never even picked up on the Outlander reference. Maybe because Roger mentioned Fluffytail which threw me. I loved Tufty when I was small. Willys long neck that never broke came flooding back and Tufty and mummy standing on the corner of the street whilst he waited. I think I had a badge. 😉
