The kid voicing Charley’s friend here was just 7 years old when he started and wasn’t even a professional actor, he was actually the director’s next door neighbor’s son. This explains why the line readings are a bit flat and monotone. I found out about this when looking through a scariest public information films compilation and after seeing a fan made music video of a song by the indie band “The Walkmen”, which was made up of this footage.

I feel bad for Charley after all his incidents.

My two ginger kittens (one of whom is the image of Charly) hate this. If they hear "Miaow miaow" they go and hide up the chimney (not a working fireplace don't worry). It totally freaks them out, poor little dudes, so this may be the last time I watch this video. Which is a shame because I think it's cool.

Lovely information film that really had an impact on me as a child. Maybe they should show them again. They may have to replace "Mummy" with care provider to modernise it but was very good at educating young children. Charly is great!!!
