My favorite part of this episode where after her big speech about not expecting the sun to love you back she looks at him and he's all soft and misty eyed and says, "Hello, sweetie." I need at least one or two more years with Peter as The Doctor. Four will always be my #1 favorite because he was my first Doctor, but 12 is only a hair's breadth away from being my #1.

It’s a terrible scene due to the fact that we see 11 clearly loved her. In this Episode she just seems to completely forget every past meeting for solely dramatic effective which, as a result, is not very dramatic.

How do you know that this particular encounter happened to River Song AFTER she had that particular encounter with #11? Quit thinking linear-ly. For all we know, this encounter with #12 occurred shortly after her first encounter with #11 in "The Time of Angels/Flesh & Stone" episode...and every encounter with all the previous Doctors occurred in the 22 years she supposedly spent with #12 on their "Last night together".

This was my favorite Christmas Special ever, and that's saying a lot because I've always adored the other ones. But this one was so personal, and emotional (not to mention, River and the Doctor will always be my favorite and most heartbreaking couple)... that it sticks with me. I can't wait for this year's special, but I'll probably re-watch this one, too.

It's still there on the onside. In the episode Dark Water, he shows the psychic paper to Dr. Chang who asks, "What's all this swearing?" The Doctor grabs it back, looks at it and says, "I've got a lot of internalized anger." 😂

I think we're still due at least one appearance left - in The Name of the Doctor, she speaks the Doctor's name (off-screen, of course) to open the TARDIS, but they've never shown how she learned it. Unless his name is "Look into my eyes," he didn't tell her in The Wedding of River Song, and I doubt they'd leave such an important event to be resolved between episodes. Or has Moffat / Kingston confirmed that this Song is over? Not that I'd believe them, of course - they've been wonderfully susceptible to barefaced lying in the name of preventing spoilers...

Easily my favorite Christmas special of all time. Just lookit the Doctor all excited! Listen to those lines, you can just hear 11's voice saying them, like the Doctor's momentarily been pulled back to better times! And then he realizes that she's not in on the joke--then that there's no joke TO be in on at all.

When I first watched this episode, after River said the bit with the alphabet I thought "but which alphabet? What language does she use?" and then the Doctor said the same thing! I was astonished and proud :D

Look how he smiles - Twelfth doctor isn't the most smiley doctor like his predecessors. But when he smiles as genuine, as happy as here - it's sure means a lot to him) And River wasn't sure that the Doctor loved her. Twelfth doctor with that smile proves it to be completely opposite!
