THE TWIN-TURBO IS READY!! (world's FIRST compound turbo D16 Civic)

Good work on the compound setup, one concern however is the arrangement of the plumbing. Ideally the exhaust runs through the smaller turbo and then into the larger turbo (as it currenty is) however.. The larger turbo usually takes in the fresh air which is then compressed into the smaller turbos inlet and to the engine thus compounding boost. That leads to faster spooling of the smaller turbo and the sooner the small turbo gets into boost the internal gate will open allowing more exhaust gases to reach the larger turbo to spool that up even faster.

I did that in 2010 with a 50 trim turbo on the bottom and a GT45 on the top and my hood close nice 💪 now I got a SLK Mercedes supercharger on my Civic that is crazy

That actually looks really well put together. The pipe routing looks fairly organized for the setup. Hope it gets a good tune and makes decent powerband

So pumped to see this work. Only thing I see is I come from the diesel world, and that’s not how you do the charge piping. The big charger is generally referred to as the atmospheric charger. The exhaust vents to atmosphere which you’ve got. The intake draws from atmosphere, and feeds the little charger which further compresses the air. However I’m sure it’s different for gas applications and you didn’t just jump into this without knowing how to do it. Keep up the good work man I love this build!

I built a compound turbo civic in the early 2000s but I made room under the hood moved radiator forward and didnt use a intercooler was sick but glad to see someone else doing it spool is unreal

Should’ve v mounted the radiator on the left side of the car next to the intake pipe and the strut tower with a really good electric fan and possibly a air duct headlight for efficiency so you could’ve tucked the 2nd turbo 👌🏼 would’ve been unique

Intake pipes are connected wrong :/ Bottom turbo needs to be connected as it was before. And the bigger turbo air out needs to be connected to bottom turbo air inlet, so it breathes in boost. Love the videos tho and keep up the good work :)

Won’t the limiting factor still be how much air the first smaller turbo can feed? Not gong to get all the air through the large turbo that it can take

Big turbo feed little turbo compressor. Youll have a choke point if the big turbo is pulling air from the small... and its a compound setup. Sequentials use 2 of the same sized turbos at different rpm ranges.

Got a feeling the weakest link here is probably the turbo manifold. Those are known to crack. Can't wait to see more though.

That’s system is going to be super limited since you used the small turbo as the primary instead of the larger one. It’s going to make power but ultimately it’s not going to make much more then the small turbo alone.

I’m pretty sure that manifold is going to crack under different heat cycles. Maybe some bracing? I’d hate to be that guy who told you so.

Your manifold charger is the secondary. While I understand what you meant, I wouldn't confuse your viewers by referring to the mani charger as the engines primary, when explaining. Anyways, cool setup. Looks like it willl be fun.
