Intelligent and well stated assessment of this confusing, irritating, and completely overblown situation. I have unsubscribed from most of the main A1Up channels, sick of the entitlement and politics and bullshit from all this. I am looking to enjoy this hobby with a healthy mindset and love the nostalgia. Enjoy the subscription and keep making good content!

@@rickhoes6326 After being subjected to yet another forum filled with childish whining on the subject of the evils of a business making business decisions (in this case, people are crying about A1U's choice of TOS policies on their site) I have decided to pull the plug on 90 percent of my subscriptions. I've had it with this nonsense. I'm in the hobby to have fun. I'm not in the hobby to listen to a pack of whiners complaining that their pussy hurts because of mean words on a web site.
Great video and I am a member of these groups because I live the products. I am not here for the drama and it is sad on what happened but the anger is causing me not to enjoy these sites or certain channels. I have 30 cabs and I look forward to future releases and have an arcade in my home. I am enjoying these channels and sites because of the products and how we all enjoy talking about them. Not all the constant complaint. Keep up the good videos.

Appreciate the positive perspective, there’s a bunch of man children out. A1Up made a critical mistake with engaging with the community early in their origin, gave customers too much access. People feel way too entitled. No one feels this way about Nintendo or Sony. Also I think John D is too polarizing and chats too much with the RU-vidr clan. They should just have a quarterly updates on their RU-vid channel and cut off all the extra engagement, imo.
I like your perspective. I know this situation has alot of people in the community feeling a type of way. I don’t know really what to say about it because I personally don’t know the entire situation from both sides. But I do enjoy the products from the company. I Dislike some of the things the company does but I’m happy that I was able to pre order this new version of Star Wars because I missed out the 1st time. I just try to focus on being able to play the games from my past that I love

Hahaha...I tried to think of my friends these days and if I go out to lunch with them (because I'm old and don't go out at night often lol) and spend time with them, I'd know the smell of their car. But often times I have a little demon in me that comes out and I have no control over what I say...just ask my wife...

I absolutely agree! I’m in my mid 40s now but my body feels 80 from all the things I’ve been through. I believe that gives me the right to say anything, and allow any gas to leave whenever I feel like it. I remember that from old guys too. Time to cash in our God given rights I say 🤪

That hits home a little bit to me. I DO value people over a product. But when is the line drawn between liking a product and wanting it, versus the people behind it? That’s a quandary to me. Because honestly I’m sure there’s products that I own where people work next to nothing for it, companies don’t abide by any ethical standards…and yet I still purchase it. I also think arcade 1up won’t do well if they don’t learn from this. But I’m worried they won’t. I’m worried they won’t put out the products that we love because they will go under. Oh well. I understand what youre saying. I think, for myself, I hear both sides but I decide for myself. I go off of my experiences with a company or product. But at the same time, all the big companies have had major QC issues, customer service issues, and unethical practices from my own experiences with them. Im speaking only for my direct experiences, but a lot of these big companies are trash in their dealings. But it doesnt mean I will stop buying their products if I like them.
Yeah, I think I’m dealing with a bit of disillusionment with A1Up but still willing to buy their products. I have had only good experiences with them and have never received damaged products or anything. Thanks for your comment E.
This video game hobby kind of came out of nowhere for me and has brought me a lot of joy over the past few years . I def get irritated at negative RU-vidrs and some drama that I see by chance and I want to say more but this is my happy place and I try to avoid that .When it comes to work and politics I’m very outspoken and can get pretty heated . I feel like arcades and gaming has been the one place where I could put everything else aside . I’ll always support people who are real and true though and I could tell Glenn was one of those people from the first time I saw him talking about Tron I left a comment from my sons RU-vid because I didn’t have one and he sent me a very nice friendly thoughtful response And I love all of his inventions . I don’t even need some of them and I’ll keep buying to support him now even more and his work
@@outruntheneonsun I actually just remembered what the message was about . The Tron push pull spinner . I told him that I’m not good enough to get up to the level to use the up done function in discs of Tron After watching him run through the levels on one of his shows I finally got good enough and guess what . The up down push pull function on my spinner was broken And it was past the 90 day return window . I did explain it to 1up n they sent me a new one but what were the chances lol Left right worked fine He gave me some tips and words of encouragement Eventually all these parts will break down and the only place to go for parts will be GRS and he will Hopefully get filthy rich

Yeah it's super petty what they did. It's good they already changed everything and issued an apology to Glen, but it doesn't change the clear shot they took at him. Now honestly it's not going to effect me buying their products but it does make me lose a bit of respect for them. And yeah although I pretty much knew they were releasing star wars ( which I already own) I was still hoping deep down it was something new haha. But I am glad for other people to get a chance to get it because it really is a great all around cabinet.
I met a local guy in one of the live chats who has one still in the box from the short lived Best Buy offering a few weeks ago. He's selling it to me Friday for what he paid for it. ($500) I'm stoked! I've been wanting the cab for quite some time. I pick it up Friday.

Even if you don't love star wars ( which I do haha) the uniqueness of the cabinet with the flight yoke, the shape and stuff like that, definitely make it stand out. And the games are fun too. I mean who doesn't like flying around blowing stuff up haha.
@@The_Bad_Guy. I still have my original ticket stubs with a note written by my 14 year old self in a scrapbook from when I saw it when it first appeared in the theatre! I was with my Dad and sister and I have all three of our stubs. Price: $2.50. Yes, I am stoked!

@@danidavis7912 when you get your cabinet you can easily add a light up coin door yourself. I have a video of my room and I show the cabinet if you want to see what they look like with the light up doors.
People have expended WAY too much energy on this issue. Did they give Glenn a sucker punch? Sure. Will people stop buying the games of their choice because of it? Not likely. At the end of the day, any entity, whether it be a person or a business, has every right to maintain control over their logos, images and creative output. We don't have to like it, but it is what it is. Back in the early days, Coca-Cola sent me a cease and desist letter over my Coca-Cola website. I wasn't happy about it, but recognized their right to control their name. People need to get over this.
Really enjoyed your perspective. And agree on many fronts. But you over simplified in a few areas. Most folks comment negatively because of significant issues with cabs from monitors, sight lines, online play etc. Those are constructive criticisms and not simply triggered because of nostalgia emotions. We also need to have a fair expectation of what a knockdown furniture version of a classic arcade can be, but if 1up wants to stop comments like the buttons are poor, stop putting poor buttons in your cabinets. Now, the hater trolls do deserve to be screened because it’s coming from an agenda place. I dig Rexer and his pov, but you also have to know he has an agenda against John D and the company. It sounds like it got personal and insulting, so not questioning having an axe to grind, but just know that behind anything he does is an agenda to make JD and 1up suffer. The flip side is true for fanboys. I very much enjoy 1up products, but most community complaints on Reddit are around quality issues, not emotional ones.
Yeah, you are absolutely right. I get the complaints as I have a few as well, particularly with the controls and with certain emulations, but all in all I thoroughly enjoy them. And maybe that’s the downfall of social media because you can’t sit down and ask people where they are coming from and why they might have an agenda. I’m sort in a quandary as I want people to love the nostalgia of the cabs, so they can put more new ones out, but also despise what they have been doing to individuals.
If you stand for nothing, you will fall for everything. If they don’t care for the people that helped them out…they don’t give a ‘F’ about you. I have some Arcade 1ups and yes some of the builds are atrocious…yes the drama is dumb. The backstabbing is detrimental. Just done with companies with no backbone…DW and CROWDER?
I’ll definitely have to check that out. He was very well spoken when he commented on one of my other videos and I respect him for that, even though he disagreed with me. Lol I’m secure enough to love it when people do that and can still be kind and secure themselves haha.
I’m not sure who you’re addressing when you made this video. If you look at any of the Glen reaction videos from RU-vidrs, not a single RU-vidr and most of the commenters have advocated not to purchase Arcade1up’s. Even Rexer who’s arguably the biggest advocate against 1up tells people if they enjoy the cabs to buy them but get them cheaper and he has been right about that. I get that you want to make a sorta different perspective video about what’s going on. I don’t know your true intentions but the fact of the matter is that Arcade1Up regardless of if you give them credit for providing products for sale that appease your nostalgia, have on countless occasions advertised/release unfinished products to mass market. John D has called Rexer and his family handicap. And now he’s threatened to sue Glen and they took his Tron joystick design along with his Facebook page cover photo to spite him. You may appreciate their products but in college we took a whole course on business ethics for a reason. And this business is unethical to say the least. Lastly, I want to suggest to you that you owe Arcade1Up nothing. If there’s a market for a product a company will enter that market. You paid your hard-earned money for your products. You owe Arcade1Up nothing in that regard.

John d did not called his family handicapped, he was wondering the reason he got tickets for a match on a handicapped seats. That is way different on what he wants people to believe. He has been building his channel on this drama, no more no less.

It’s already implied that a member of his family would have obviously been handicapped. How is that pertinent information for John D to know? And the assumption for him to make that Rexer somehow snuck his way into the handicap section for good seats… why would you even have the audacity to ask that? In addition, what is your argument about Arcade1Up stealing Glen’s Tron joystick design… or coding infringement rights… or Glen’s Facebook group and making the cover photo mimic his to spite Glen… or selling cabinets that still aren’t wifi ready despite advertising as such… Or John D threatening to sue Glen?

@@mikeyyoon the only thing that he did wrong was that he took the bait. Rexer' has always been on the toxic side, when it concerned arcade 1 up and unfortunately for Mr D, he was not able to keep his comment for himself. That being said, him taking the bait does not mean he was wrong or evil like rexer made him out to be. No other executives would try to be as interactive with his comunity as he tried for all these years. Of course this is a job for him, but still. Unfortunately due to that episode he was labeled as someone, that in my humble opinion, is not.
1 thing you need to know about Glen he saved 1 up from themselves back in 2018 . The community is not toxic when it comes to Glen I’ll try to explain simply . When 1 up first came out with the Atari 12-1 Gen 1 cab they had a spinner like a washing machine dial and track ball that that moved like concrete . The community loved the cabs but performance was subpar , Glen came in and made them better to the point the community bought more cabs knowing they could fix cabs with his parts and 1 ups sales soared *** facts*** now I can tell you if it was not for Glen all the cabs you have behind you would not be there and 1 up would have been a story of a failed company that made crappy cabs with crappy parts. 1) he showed 1 up the way to do things right 2) 1up learned adults bought them and fixed them up to perform like they should 3) he shared his knowledge freely to make all products going forward better. So without Glen there would have been no Gen 2 etc etc …. 1up was a failing company before him *** facts *** I agree with most things you say about 1up but this one you should have reviewed the history of 1up before making this video. Not woke-ness or toxic feeling just facts and anger should be expressed as it is valid.👍

@@outruntheneonsun dont need to e-mail the history its right here on RU-vid like I said start watching reviews on Atari 12-1 Gen 1 cabs 2018 . You will be startled how much Glen did for this company . At the start cabs were considered hot trash -then as you progress you will see people warming up to cabs with Glen’s fixes making cabs better. After that this community became a community and 1up thrived. Love your content & you’re positive vibe keep it up and do you’re homework 😉 for us that have been here since the start it’s like Cain killing Abel … I know you get that👍🙏
I do I really do. But I too have owned the cabs from the very beginning. Just didn’t get the Atari cab because I thought the kids at church wouldn’t like it. In the beginning that’s what I bought them for. So maybe I missed out on that garbage stuff but as the SHTF I want active on RU-vid I guess. I appreciate you saying this, ask for grace, but I did do some homework lol. Just maybe should have sought advice…maybe listen to my own video lol.
