The scientific answer is that fat is a natural insulating agent. That’s the reason why seals and whales have so much fat, and in humans it works the same way. Ate the end of the day, you are just cold much faster that anyone when you get into the pool

@@thpxs0554 Used to be me 3 years ago. I would maintain a clean diet and exercise routine 5 days a week, but once Saturday hit, all hell broke loose with the black hole known as my stomach. I'd eat like 3000 or 4000 calories and feel like absolute shit at the end of Saturday. Then I'd say I'd do better on Sunday and basically fast the entire day or be discouraged and binge eat again. It was a really bad cycle of making progress then losing it because of my bad habits. Thankfully I no longer do this or have binges. I've developed a healthier relationship with food and no longer feel like I need super unhealthy junk foods to enjoy food. I now enjoy healthy foods and if I do ever crave junk food or even a nice meal I'd usually not eat, then I'll get it for a cheat meal on the weekend. But that's the key term: cheat meal. Not cheat day. Not cheat weekend.

Yes, that's natural.Having a high body fat percentage is what keeps the Eskimos alive in that very cold environment.Opposite, you see that people who live in hot countries,like at the equator or tropical countries are really low on fat, as it's not needed.

Food isn't an issue for me, it's the exercise i'am finding hard between tight joints stiff hip flexes and bones that constantly crack and pop, still going strong now for four months 15st down to 12st.

rob morris i've run into the same issue after 3 years strong oddly enough even though i'm doing everything the same. Less mobile and recovering poorly for some reason, i've been trying everything. If you haven't or don't, make sure you're getting adequate sleep, stretching properly, warming up before resistance training and also getting some cardio in. On top of that just don't overwork yourself because overtraining can result in this too. Also potassium. But i'm lost myself currently so idk man

Do 15-20 minutes of dynamic stretches before your workout. Don't forget to stretch your hips (most people don't stretch them). Do 15-20 minutes of static stretches after your workout. Stretch every body part from your toes to your face. Every. Single. One. And again, don't forget to stretch your hips.

Your point about body building and mental health is an important one. I see a lot of RU-vidrs from the body building space who obsess over food, joking about their eating habits when they eat a simple croissant etc. To me this defeats the point. Body building is supposed to perpetrate a healthy lifestyle, but when it consumes your life and thought process so persistently, it can be mentally unhealthy. I think RU-vidrs could do more to raise awareness of this, like you have touched on in this video. I read a research paper recently that said eating disorders in women often manifests itself in the form of anorexia. But in men, it is most often with excessive bodybuilding and body-dismorphia. Often I see RU-vidrs (not you) who obsess over very small parts of their body that aren't (to them) perfect, when as to an outsider they're absolutely ripped. More discussion around these issues could be done, and I urge you to do so given your position of authority and outreach in the bodybuilding space. Thank you - Alex.

@@peace7642 Well, short answer is I simply do not have the appetite, never did. If I were to eat only according to how I feel I'd probably not even get to 2k most days. I find ways to deal with it and usually I manage to get past 3k, but I it'll always be inconvenient for me.

It is really hard to get ripped. My body fat % is too high. Training is so easy for me, I easily have the discipline but I have 0 self controll when it comes to food. 85kg/182cm. If I lost 5 kg I would look reasonably shredded but I am too much of a fatso.

Hello Joe! This is the first video of yours that I've seen, but man is it accurate. I've dealt with most of the common issues you talked about since I started counting and cutting calories a year and a half ago with a starting weight of 397lbs, or 180 kg. I've cut 82 kg so far and hope to cut another 8kg or so. I didn't take a refeed day (what we call cheat days in the states) for the first year of cutting, but I'll start including a regular one now for sure. My cutting progress slowed down when I went back to school, but I still want to get to my goal weight and hit some non-scale goals. If for no other reason, I think this video helps me feel a little bit more normal about the issues I've seen since I started this thing. Thanks!

bro increase your calories by 300 and go slowly, or else you will end up like me last year. i got a freaking eating disorder. i couldnt stop eating and i was laying in the hospital for 1 week because i felt so shit. i ate so much till i threw up everytime

When I am dieting, when I find my self wanting to eat, or thinking of food all the time, is almost always due to not enough fat. Try swapping some carb calories for fat calories such as avocado, bacon, or sausage. Ive found that half an avocado, 4 slices of bacon mixed in with about 1/2 a pound of sausage for break fast has be good for a solid 5-6 hours before food is on the mind again.

summary of my 5 days fast: day 1; got really hungry around dinner time, managed to go to bed without eating. day 2; no hunger. day 3; spent 2 hours looking up recipes on Pinterest. day 4; no hunger. day 5; woke up, stayed in bed watching a 12 hour Gordon Ramsey cooking compilation, slept dreaming about food. day 6; ate a steak, not hungry anymore, but I have 4 gigabytes of food recipes sitting in my subconscious, dancing around.. day 7; testing three of those recipes.. honestly, I just wanna have chicken breast and broccoli and I'm full. day 8; normal eating day 9; I want to fast for another 3 days! it was soooo goood!

Such a great vid! 😃 Although I'm new to MyFitnessPal and lifting and wouldn't exactly call what I'm doing a cut (as I've never even bulked), I can relate to most of this...but I'm still wondering if this stuff applies to men more than women? As women don't typically get to as low a body fat percentage as men, or at least it's not healthy for us to do so. Also, just be glad you don't have that Time Of The Month to contend with or your binges would probably be happening far more frequently!! 😂😭🙈 It makes staying on track so much harder!

Refeed days helped to keep me sane during my previous cut, without them I wouldn't have been able to sustain the deficit. Some of them did end up becoming binges though ngl. Thanks for the vid Joe

Why don't you combine gym with intermittent fasting? Avoid all of the negative side effects of low calories and stop feeling hungry while reaping the benefits of increased HGH

I am SO glad ive found your channel and even this video. I was 'Obese' and started dieting a couple months ago. Now down to 14 stone which i'm feeling great about but heavily addicted to energy drinks! I drink these Reign drinks (any other caffeine BCAA style drinks), because they are zero sugar and calories which have helped me cut out added sugars completely but i cant break this damn addiction :(. So close yet so far. Anyways, keep it up Joe, you are inspiring me!
