"The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly" is one of the most haunting theme songs ever composed. It cemented Ennio Morricone's name in musical composition history forever.
George Harrison would have loved this. He was obsessed with the ukulele. He carried a half dozen of them in his trunk. He said you never know when you might need a few. Not everyone has them around.
He may well have loved them as they were performing whilst GH was alive. George Harrison was a fan of George Formby and did attend at least one of their conventions in Blackpool and with has wife and Dhani and Jimmy Nail.
Love the variety of artists you react to, and thanks for the sanity you've brought my family over the last 18 months - we truly enjoy the positivity and enthusiasm of your messages and your videos
I’m seeing them live at Broadstairs, Kent (nr. London) next Friday. You should do a video for their cover of Slave to the Rhythm, Grace Jones. I think you will love it.
I love this group! They have a number of songs that they have done very well. Some of them are Theme From Shaft, Life On Mars (by David Bowie, with a few extra bits thrown in), I Can't Get No Satisfaction, and Car Wash (Rose Royce).
I really love this orchestra, they have been touring all round the world for 36 years remaining independent, sadly losing their co founder in 2017. They are still very active releasing weekly covers. Their version of Bowie's Heroes is awesome, their Lovecats so much fun, to say what is my favorite UOGB track is impossible, they surprise you every week (This week it was the Cranberries Dream). The Guardian stated that "Time and again, their deadpan delivery of egotistical lyrics demolishes the pretensions of the pop industry with flourish." British Council promoting the UOGB tour of China wrote "You may never think about music in the same way once you've been exposed to the ukes' depraved musicology". They tackle absolutely every style of music, while often they are faithful, they are prehaps best known for reworking classics of rock 'n' roll, pop, punk, jazz and classical music etc etc, sometimes changing these so that the expectations of the audience are subverted. Kate Bushes "Wuthering Heights" is reworked as a swinging jazz number - complete with a Cab Calloway-style "Heathcliffe!" call and response,] The Who's power pop "Pinball Wizard" turns into a harmonized a cappella with a vaudevillian lead vocal by Hinchliffe, while the Sex Pistol's "Anarchy in the UK" is performed in the style of a Simon & Garfunkel cosy campfire sing-along folk song were the audience is encouraged to join in. Sometimes the UOGB combine several styles in one track for example, David Bowie's "Life on Mars?" is melded seamlessly with "My Way", "For Once in My Life", "Born Free", "Substitute", and While co-founder and musical arranger George Hinchcliffe with mock seriousness plays Handel's "G Minor Suite No.7 for the Harpsichord" on his Uke, all the other members sing in turn different songs on top the Handel base "Fly Me To The Moon", “Love Story (Where Do I Begin),” "Autumn Leaves", "Killing Me Softly with His Song", "Hotel California" and "I Will Survive", ending with all genre variations performed simultaneously in harmony together. Over the pandemic, including lockdown they released to RU-vid several dozen original videos, a treasure trove of musical delights, which kept my spirits very happy. And a fab new young member just officially joined. I have booked to see them live end of the month.
The very fact that Jamel smiled all the way through this song just shows how great the tune and the orchestras interpretation of it truly is. You really have to do a reaction to the Shaft theme tune - you'll love it.
This is the first time I've heard of The Ukulele Orchestra, let alone listened to The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly played on a ukulele. What a pleasant surprise. Very cool. Thanks for the introduction.
My fave cover band! So glad you found the Ukelele Orchestra of Great Britain. The theme from Shaft, Wuthering Heights, Highway To Hell are all worth checking out. But their medley (of sorts) Fly Me Off The Handel is genius!
Stumbling on them on RU-vid inspired me to take up the Uke and 3 years on and I still pick it up everyday. Just having a strum helps get me through rough patches.
There is a winter ukelele festival near me -I discovered it 3 yrs ago. Wow I was amazed at the musicality of their performances! What a total enjoyment.
So glad you reacted to this! You should also react to them playing Ride of The Valkyries/Silver Machine, the theme song to Shaft, Teenage Dirtbag, and they also have a number of medley mashups, where they play a number of songs together in the same cadence and tune, and it just fits so perfectly with the combination of tunes they mend together! This never gets old! Keep reacting, sir! You're doing great work!
REMINDS ME OF THE ClINSTER Back in 1967 My fav movie of all time .. The way Clint Moves the cigar in his mouth makes me laugh every time , And hes the KING of ALL Movie star Studs , PR0OVE ME WRONG
Very much appeals to our British sence of humour. And timing is on point with the whole tune. That's why you get goose bumps. You know how great they are at doing what they do, Peace and love to you and your family. And stay safe. 😉
I've been trying to get all the YT reactors to check this out, for ages, so thanks man!! As for great whistlers, you should really have a look at the legendary Roger Whittaker!!! He was born in Kenya, of English parents, & was taught to whistle by the local Masai tribesmen, when he was a boy. It proved to be a valuable lesson, as he incorporated his whistling skills into his music shows later in his life. His greatest whistling tunes are The Mexican whistler, The Finnish whistler, & Elizabethan serenade. He also recorded a ton of great songs with his wonderfully rich baritone voice, of which I'd highly recommend Durham Town, New world in the morning, The last farewell, & The Skye boat song. Enjoy!! 😃
Saw them at our local park,, totally brilliant, and enjoyable, everyone watching them had a big grin on there faces; thats what music is about; good vibes
Jamel, my friend, you have made my day with this - I love The Ukes. Go and look at their cover of Kate Bush’s Wuthering Heights - but remind yourself of the original first! Also, their cover of Lovecats is splendid in a quite different way.
How cool is that?! Thanks Jamel, I remember that music from watching the movie back in the day. I just aged straight up aged myself but I don't care because I enjoyed that thoroughly!!!! Keep doing what you do. I so appreciate you! 😎❤
That was like watching a fine oiled machine running. I enjoyed that Jamel! All those spaghetti westerns and Clint Eastwood movies music come to life. That was fun! ❤️💜💚
I am so glad you have discovered the joys of The Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain. If you haven't already, I would recommend their cover of Wuthering Heights. :0)
Rumour has it that they're working on a "Difficult" (as in deliberately Difficult) album. Three projected tracks are - "The Four Horsemen","It's Only A Movie" and "Hocus Pocus".
They also do a cover of 'The Theme From Shaft'......some AC/DC.....all sorts of stuff. The little dude on the far left is my favorite. He let's his hair down like a wild man in some of their videos.
You are the first person on youtube to react to this great band 👍🏻❤️ Pinball wizard the theme from shaft in fact anything from them is worth reacting to I hope you do more reactions to them and start a trend 🇬🇧
I've mentioned this a couple times. If you want to hear the song that I would argue may be the best song EVER lyrically. Listen to Dobbie Gray "Drift Away" Doesn't matter what Genre of music is your thing. The chorus HAS to grab you where it counts. Keep great music alive! I so wish I could go back and hear all these again for the first time. Watching you is as close as I mat get to doing that. Thank you for your love of music!!!!!!!!!
Plaintive cry of a young Mexican girl was done in a Bristol/ Somerset accent from the South West Of England. "Alright my lover" is a common saying round there which is why it's funny!
Hey Jamel! A band I haven’t seen anyone react to is The Rippingtons. They’re an extremely underrated smooth jazz band who had their music played on The Weather Channel back in the day. A specific song I think you should react to is “Aspen” (Live in LA)
This is soooooooo f*cking awsome!!!!!!!! '"From one Tiger to another" is my favorite part. JB is indeed a TIGER for life!!!! OSU fans keep Joey B's name out ya mouth!!!!
I know you've already done a reaction to Somewhere Over The Rainbow, but it wasn't the version by Israel "IZ" Kamakawiwoʻole on a ukulele. For me, it's the best version of Somewhere Over the Rainbow I've heard. By the way, love your channel.
So glad you've gotten onto these guys. The Uke Orchestra, brother Iz, and Joe Brown were the three main reasons I fell in love with the ukulele. Still love listening to ukulele music
After numerous cancellations due to covid I finally got to see them at my local theatre only a couple of weeks ago and they are awesome, very talented and great fun to watch, and best of all back on tour again. Thank you for showing this band and keep up the great work you do for keeping music alive.Stay safe.
I know how much you love different videos. My friend turned me on to these guys. Russian band (this has subtitles), fun, humorous and it’s like a whole dang movie! Timonium by Otava Yo. I hope you like it. It’s quite a ride!! Keep up the good work. Look forward to your videos.
FINALLY! An orchestral piece I could participate in - I've got that WAH-WAH-WAH down pat!!! LOL!! Thank you for introducing this group to your audience!
I love this orchestra, I love this song, and, I love their rendition ... I try and share this with everyone I know , who will listen, and several that I am unsure if they will.. But everyone should know this song, and how fun it can be to listen to this rendition ..
I saw them perform live in Palm Desert a couple of Christmases ago. They released sheet music beforehand so everyone in the audience could learn the songs and play along. It was a blast! This song, in particular is a showstopper.
