The tires worked great, replaceable hexes were flawless and they're belted; the one r/c basher tire to rule them all?

I enjoy your videos very much.. I am fairly new to the rc hobby. Can you make a video describing the different type of electro motors ( brushed ,brushless, closed bell, open bell ,motor turns etc. That would be greatly appreciated.
@AMain_Hobbies
@AMain_Hobbies 4 года назад
Hey Julian. I can give you a quick summary on them here. Brushless systems are faster, more powerful, require nearly no maintenance, but are more expensive. Brushed systems are less powerful, require more maintenance but are inexpensive. For both brushless and brushed, a lower motor turn is faster (7.5T is faster than 17.5T). For beginners, a brushed system is a good starting point because of lower costs. After time, you can upgrade to brushless. If you have the budget, I recommend get a brushless from the start. Let me know if you have any other questions. -Brett

Hey Brett hope all been going good with you. Had a question for you what tires are your go to basher tires? Do you have recommendations for tires for my Kraton EXB build? What and why would someone choose belted tires over non belted?
@AMain_Hobbies
@AMain_Hobbies 3 года назад
We've only used the EXB stock tires on it. These Belted tires are really big and heavy and are a good tire for vehicles with so much power, they rip the tire, or if you do flat out speedruns. But belted tires stay flat and tend to have a hard edge making high speed cornering a little sketchy and feels like the tire will catch the surface and flip you over. Non-belted tires tend to be more round with no to little edge, so cornering is a lot more comfortable and natural feeling. That's my take on belted and non-belted. Some people love them, some people don't, it's a lot of just personal preference really. For tires, I really like the Badlands. We have a set of these: www.amainhobbies.com/proline-badlands-3.8-premounted-truck-tires-2-black-w-raid-wheels-m2-pro1178-10/p-qqqrqawatzznqctz?v=997148 and they're smaller than the EXB tires. These though, should be taller, but we've never used them: www.amainhobbies.com/proline-badlands-mx38-3.8-tire-w-raid-8x32-wheels-black-2-m2-pro10127-10/p-qqqrq2watbznqctz?v=1009665 Hope that helps Donnie! -Brett

What would be a good gear combo for a erevo 2.0 with these tires
@AMain_Hobbies
@AMain_Hobbies 3 года назад
Probably a few teeth smaller pinion gear than whatever comes equipped on the truck. Not sure what it is specifically, but i'd start with 2 smaller and test motor temperatures. If you live in a hot climate, your motor will be hotter than if you lived in a cold climate; so there are some conditions that effect the temperature. But with some trial and error, you'll find what works best for you, in your environment. -Brett

Would you recommend this size or the 2.8 for the Maxx with Wide kit? Thanks I think the extra height may work good in grass
@AMain_Hobbies
@AMain_Hobbies 4 года назад
I wouldn't recommend these for the Maxx, they're too big and the servo would really suffer from the weight. The 2.8" would be better if you want belted, or these tires would be awesome: Trenchers: www.amainhobbies.com/proline-trencher-2.8-tires-w-raid-6x30-wheels-2-m2-pro1170-10/p985707?v=873802 Trenchers LP: www.amainhobbies.com/proline-trencher-low-profile-2.8-tires-w-raid-rear-wheels-2-black-m2-pro10159-10/p976023?v=949174 Badlands MX28: www.amainhobbies.com/proline-badlands-mx28-2.8-premounted-tires-w-raid-6x30-wheels-2-m2-pro10125-10/p985706?v=873803 -Brett
@artiep6358
@artiep6358 4 года назад

can you please explain the purpose of the screws for the tires?
@AMain_Hobbies

The screws attach the hex hub to the wheel. So if you strip out the hex in the hub, you can easily replace it. If you strip the hex in a normal wheel, the entire wheel and tire are no good. Hope that helps. -Brett

man im still happy with my regular proline tires,i just get like 5 of these really wide rubber bands to take out air and then i get some epoxy and seal the holes off and bam the ballooning is reduced by alot and they wear evenly,also what ive noticed on thhe new proline wheels with tires i get lots of wobble from the hub and yes the screws are tight but ive had different sets of those wheels with the removable hubs and ive had the same problem and its super annoying and idk if thats normal ?

@AMain_Hobbies
@AMain_Hobbies 4 года назад

@TheBucklerstyle
@TheBucklerstyle 4 года назад
AMain Hobbies Thank you very much. What would be the limit temperature wise?

@@TheBucklerstyle Try to keep the motor under 170°F or 76.6°C for best long term life. If you don't have a temp gun, if i can keep my finger on the motor for 3 seconds without it burning me, it should be ok. But if you can't hold your finger on there even a second, way too hot. @scott1171
@scott1171 4 года назад
What causes heat is my question, is it the weight or the drag/surface aria of the tire??
@AMain_Hobbies
@AMain_Hobbies 4 года назад
It's the gearing that changes by adding larger diameter tires. It's like a real car accelerating from a dead stop in 2nd gear instead of 1st gear, it's much harder on the motor. With the larger diameter tires, gearing down on the pinion gear helps put the gearing back to where it should be, adding back bottom end torque, and making the motor not work so hard. Because when the motor works harder than it should be, it generates a lot of heat, same with the ESC. -Brett
@euqat
@euqat 4 года назад
To add a bit of explanations, from what I know : if a motor cannot translate the energy it receives into rotation, the energy will dissipate into heat. So if you push hard the throttle but the motor struggles to spin, it will heat up a lot. The ESC in the other hand, might heat up a lot due to the amount of energy that travels throught it, and the conversion of this energy I suppose?

Last time i see a video u guys compared this arrma kraton6s vs erevo 2.0 and the kraton don't climb the litte curve. But right now with those tires the erevo 2.0 ar nothing. So don't compare a rc with different tires cause 1 or those rcs they look humiliated.. so i see u like those tires in the kraton6s. Right 🤣

I wouldnt use them. Of course they look cool but their big and heavy, so they will decrease durability of certain parts drastically, plus they will put a lot of stress on the parts, so they will wear out more quickly

yeah i don’t have the speed gearing on mine but they shattered the differential in 3 runs

The problem with stuff like this and ur models like techno and arrma etc.. is when u break shit you have to order parts because local hobby shops do not carry stuff like this. Who wants to wait for it to ship especially when u break a part and u have to wait a week to get it. That sucks

@@AMain_Hobbies I was running my serpent truggy rtr. Stock pinion which most people upgrade to the 19t pinion. My fault for not gearing way down I guess plus they are just way too wide for the street.

@@AMain_Hobbies terrain was street, it smoked everything when I went offroad. In my opinion these are 5th scale tires. I'm thinking 2.8s are better for 8th scale.
