Good to have you back, A great vid. I think a lot are like me, wanting to see some long term reviews, tests, tours etc with a Lowed GSA. Looking forward to yours. Cheers.
Hello Bob I have had quite a few sports and naked bikes but nothing of this size. The only thing that the size effects for me is how I park it. Like any other vehicle you just have to think about a suitable location. You can push it about but theres no need to. I always park so I can ride it off. You grow to love the bikes size It gracefully punches through the air on the motorways and takes corners lovely. I absolutely love it and I can say now it's my favourite bike so far. What a fantastic plan to retire and ride some tours on a GSA. Don't be put off by how big they are as you will master it with just a weeks worth of practice. Good luck and let me know how you get on.
Just so people know, the 3 compressed air cartridges that Gear Gremlin supplies with the repair kit, is not enough to inflate your tyre sufficiently. My cousin was with me when I used mine, and I needed to borrow 2 of his cartidges (so 5 in total ... and I think I was at 27 PSI) to get enough air to get me to a garage to inflate it proper. Great toolkit though. I built up my own, larger ... but also has more extra bits in it.
Hi Buddy , Great vid that man cave is an absolute dream, i'm just about to watch the tour, ! congrats on the 400k views. . hope to see another upload from you soon P.S you forgot cable ties , duct tape and quicksteel for your tool kit ;)
Now that is a useful vlog Buddy.... I have looked at that kit online and been put off by the price. Now that I have actually seen it, thanks to you, I will be negotiating extra funds from the Fund Manager to get one. BTW, what a great place you have. Very jealous of the ‘man cave’. Ride safe.
Good to see you back mate. Who would have thought that small kit would cover everything on the bike? I thought it would just about fit in the top box!! Just bought the same tyre repair kit myself, so will be interested to see that video! Keep them coming mate, seems like lots of folks have stopped putting video's out lately! What happened with the CCM if you don't mind me asking?
I bought a toolkit from touratech, and also a handy toolbox which fitted on the left hand side between the pannier and the wheel. It was excellent, but unfortunately I have since sold the bike, in a fit of pique, and am now considering getting an R1250 GS, but that’s another story
Nice kit. I think the price is a little high for me. If I had your roll I would also buy it. I think I can make a comparable set of tools for a little less money. I would also add to the kit a pair of pliers. For a long trip, I would several other things such as tape and a compressor. Thanks for taking the time to inform us!
TinMan Thanks mate years ago if I got a flat tyre we had to get a van to pick us up. It was hard getting a video done I have lost my way with it a bit to be honest. If you don’t keep it up you forget things.
Great video Buddy...I'm in the final stages of my research with regards a new bike and it's looking like the 2018 BMW R1200 GSA Triple Black. Your recent video's have really helped my decision. I'm looking forward to the bike review now that you've done a few miles on her...hurry up !! 😀
jcb59 Welsh Flyer I will get on and make some more vids soon. Have you seen the new white and blue one with the new TFT. That looks stunning and you will probably end up with one of them when you see it. I am extremely happy with choosing the GSA I feel completely spoiled. Cruise Control. Quick shift, Sat Nav , Abs none of this was about when I started riding. You will love it mate👍
Buddy's Insight ...yes I saw one in the showroom when I was last in. I’ve taken pics of both the Triple Black and the GSA in White & Blue with the blue frame bars. I’m alternating them as my laptop desktop picture to see which one I truly like best. I agree though the new Blue & White looks stunning...will be a hard decision. I was also struggling to decide what height but I think I’m going with the standard height now. 🤔
jcb59 Welsh Flyer When you get a chance to test ride one I would make sure you can flat foot the ground. I have to set my suspension to single rider mode and then it lowers itself so I can flat foot. Some riders just use there toes but honestly it feels very precarious for me. £18k on a big bike you need a good footing each time. Don’t be put off by it’s size though that’s what you grow to love about it. Make a collection vid I would like to see that👍
Great info! Thanks! I would suggest to get rid of music or at least keep volume down. I watch with headphones and the musics blasts you out when your trying to hear dialogue. Thanks.
beautiful house, beautiful bike. i always thought you'd be around 20's ( lol ) anyways, can you pls post the link of the tool kit which bought if you have bought that online...
G-MAN'S Bikes & Bits Thanks mate. Videos seem harder to do these days. I try. I was told that Bmw would recover me anywhere in the world. I would like to test that in Mongolia to see if they turned up lol. It’s nice to feel safe and have a support kit.
Hi, it would be useful to list the other items you selected, for folks putting together a similar set of kit, naturally they may vary specific items, but the overall bill of materials would be useful. PS just asked my local dealer to order me the tool kit.
CJACEY-TRUCKS Thanks mate. The only way I get to live in this house is because I built it myself. I couldn’t afford it if I had to buy it from the market. I hate seeing myself on camera. That’s why people never see me. Most people think that I am in my 20s lol. I am a young 46. I did my bit in black and white so I didn’t look so old. I do try
Buddy's Insight I'd have thought building it yourself would cost more but nevermind. You look ok, I've no shame as I'm sure you've established. Looking forward to the coming videos and should be back working again on monday
Motohansa BMW Motorcycle is way better then BMW's kit.. I work for BMW as a motorcycle tech and I'd find the limit with that kit other then simple stuff (even though I can buy it for very little money) , I have a custom kit of my snap on gear I use at work and it'll do enough to even take a gearbox out of a K1600 GTL :) and it takes very little amount of space :) nice video.
Good information! The more I see these GS’s, the more Ibeginning to warm up to them. I’m planning to do a lot of touring once I retire, but I’m concerned about the size and weight of these larger bikes. Have you always ridden a large bike or did you work up to it?
Thanks Buddy, I’ve just watched “Watch before you buy Parts 1 & 2” and this video and I think you have convinced me to bite the bullet and get one... However, I’m still torn between the GS Rallye or the GSA!! What made you pick this bike and why did you not get the TFT screen? Thanks again for your very down to earth honesty and hopefully one day we can catch up for a ride and maybe a collaboration VLOG? I can’t wait to see your touring kit video too... Cheers
The Jersey Biker Hello mate I went for the GSA because it has everything you could ever want on a luxury bike. It comes with the full set of crash bars fitted. Being a big bike I was sure I might drop it. I haven’t yet but you never know. The tft is something I wasn’t fussed about to be honest everything comes up on the Nav 6 that I need. I also after 14 years of dreaming about one I couldn’t wait any longer. I am doing an update vid soon. I am sure one day we will have a ride out👍
Buddy's Insight - Thanks for getting back to me so soon... My decision is made, I am going for the GSA Rallye TE with a few extras of course... looking forward to your next vid!!
I see this is an old video - so a good questions to ask, a) found it still covered your needs? B) I read somewhere that people had rust issues… yours remained rust free?
CJACEY-TRUCKS Very funny. 😎. How are you getting on are you feeling better. I have to make sure I don’t allow things to stress me and wear me down. Whatever I do work wise I make sure it’s not stressful these days
If you go into Bmw Chris they can give you the code that is suitable for that bike. They don’t advertise these but they always have them in the back store. I should imagine they are all the same though 👍
Jesus........ 100+£ for a few bits..... Lord you are perfect costumer for bmw.:))))) you can get to any hardware shop and get proper bits for a quarter of that stupid price and way better quality but everyone with his own budget
Not possible mate hardware store tools are cheap rubbish bought by the owners for maximum profit. To gather a kit like of this quality takes days of running around. Trust me mate I know people that tried to make a kit like this. It's not cheap but it gives me total confidence
