Good review. I love my M70 jacket. And of course the M70 trousers are similarly pocket rich. I think it’s a fantastic concept. One reason it’s relatively heavy is because of the internal reinforcements that allow it to be a loadbearing jacket so you can stuff all that gear in the pockets and it still retains its shape and distributes the weight over your body rather than it all sagging to one spot. I was happy to find the alpenflage waterproof poncho to complete the ensemble.
Great news and I recently managed to acquire the TANK all in one combo suit, but it is far too hot to wear it now when it is almost 40 degrees here in BG.
Great stuff Robert , its like a tardis that Jacket . Gotta say I like the ex army gear . Always proper good quality gear. Nice one Robert, always an entertaining watch 🙂👍. All the best mate, Rick
I've got the M70 jacket (veil in the hood), the clip on pack and the dungaree type trousers. I'm not sure it'd fit me these days but I hear there are sizes available for the older chunky Swiss reservist. I hope so LOL.
I bought a few more of them even if a much smaller size as jackets I can use as spares. All of them have that little quadrant of camo netting in the hood. I made a wired hood in my main jacket and added a tab to stop it blowing over my head when not needed. I did film it, but never got around to editing it for some reason or other. I recently MISSED the chance to get the full Tankie Boiler suit in fat barsteward size due to procrastinating and now I am sorry that I didn't pay my money and take my chance. I have the dungarees, but they're more of a novelty and far too small for me. Thanks for the comment and support, most appreciated.
@RobertsBulgaria They're great jackets but murder when wet. I've got a spare jacket, they're kind of short, especially in the sleeves. I'm going to use it to extend the arms and add to the plaquet down the front, fill in that gap at the bottom. We'll, I've been saying that for the last ten years! I followed your channel years ago (in the Vista days), and I'll need to subscribe again. Thank you.
Some piece of kit, great video of an iconic jacket. I have a Swiss Alpenflage shirt, really nice & comfortable to wear, unique camo. Only 2 pockets though 😁 Thanks Just subscribed
Yes, it is stamped in 1 cm sized letters somewhere inside the jacket, but not where you might expect to find it. Mine are European sizes 56/58 which equates roughly to XL/XXL Obviously, Soldiers are usually slimmer than old fat beer drinking guys like myself so the larger sizes are more difficult to find. I hope that helps you.
@@Barnaby_bo I'm 6' 1'' or 1.83, but I weigh in at around 103 Kg. I think, that without going to check to see if there is still a label that can be read that they size on the German sizing system and this is the largest I could find which is 56/58. Plenty big enough for me in the chest, shoulders, but short on my torso and short in the sleeves. I like my Smocks to cover half of my ass at least and this doesn't go much longer than waist belt length. I am hoping to combine two into one jacket and make it longer, longer sleeves etc. but not sure if/when that will happen as I don't have a sewing machine yet.
Are you sure about the composition? I find different answers, some heavy cotton some polycotton. Personally not a fan of polycotton. Can’t find labels stating it…
