I have the same special place in my heart for the C5. My dad had an 03 50th convertible when I was a kid and was the coolest thing watching him shift gears! I grew up and got myself a black 03’ Z06. For the while that I had it, it was one of the most memorable experiences of my life.

I currently own a 2004 C5, machine silver over black.It has 19,000 miles on it with C7--Z06 wheels. I have the original 5 spoke polished wheels. I'm getting a torch red C7 and I appreciate your comments and info.Thank you. BTW my first corvette was a 1970 convertible with both tops,donnybrooke green over green, 327 c i. 300 hp. 4 speed, that I purchased new in 1970.

This is exactly the video I was looking for! I am a "new car guy" - I never really paid attention to sports cars until 2 years ago. I've been looking up information on all kinds of different sports cars and this video did a great job explaining the differences between all the models and packages available on the corvette. I am looking to buy my first sports car and wasn't in tune to the Corvette lingo (models, packages, and trims). Exactly what I was looking for. Thanks.

I decided to order a new 2013 Z06 base instead of getting the 2014. I knew the new car would be plagued with issues for about it's first 2-3 model years. So far, almost 6 years and 62,000+, the car has not had any electrical or mechanical issues. And I got 7-8 years worth of updates, upgrades, improvements, TSBs, etc. All I've done is oil/filter changes, front brakes and repair some road debris damage. It's has been as reliable or more than cars I've had which were made in Japan. With Michelin tires, the car is incredible to drive and cured several handling issues caused by the OEM Goodyear Eagle F1 EMTs. This car is SO good, the C7 has little enticement for me. And...It's THE LAST 427 they'll ever make.

Interested in the performance exhaust. I understand the hp improvement but what is the difference in sound. Does it have a quiet touring mode as well as louder sport or track modes. I haven't found a good youtube the compares the sounds of the C7 in different modes.

Good review without having to read all the books and trying to put it all together. Plus a newbie can grow his knowledge quickly with your "Cliff Note" review. As I have moved around different brands the hardest part was understanding all the model and option names. It does get pretty confusing. Plus with the Corvette you have the choice of hardtop vs. convertible. And then the manual verses automatic. My previous Corvettes were coupes with manual transmissions. This time looks like another coupe with an automatic.

Which trim level did you go with, and does yours have the Z51 package?

I am retired sold my Ron Fellows in 2015 for a Chevy SS Sedan not good maverick, sold the SS and shopping a C7. Having had the Z06 and the LS3 which i put an LSA SC on, is the LT1 hot enough for street only fun for old people. I had Mag Shocks in the SS and loved them do i need Mag Shocks on the C7? The Z06 is beyond my price range, should i consider the GS or Z51 for a Sport ride? Not a race car. Found a 2LT with Mag Shock option is that close enough for an old man cruiser. What about used Mileage? Seen 7,000, 15,000, 30,000 50,000 even 65,000 miles still pulling down $40,000 asking price, is that nuts? Nice video on options and offerings now i need to find my LAST Corvette and am ready to cruise.

Yo do you change your own oil or do you get it changed by a professional?

Is there any difference between the bottom end of the motor itself between the grand sport and z06. Obviously the supercharger, but I am looking to get a c7 and put a procharger on it, so the factory supercharger doesnt mean anything to me, but the platform being sturdy enough for boost is important. Any info you could provide on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

DO you think the C 7 has a low clearance?

Careful with that z07 package. My father tracked his and ended up just under $12 grand to replace all the brakes and rotors.

PLEASE EXPLAIN to me why the heater stops blowing hot air when the button to retract the the roof is pushed on the dashboard...makes no sense to me...is this a over sight? is this a programming error? What is the logic...The coupe allows you to manual control the heater when the roof has been removed. Why do you need to run the temp control at HI to get any heat in the cabin with the top down...sure wish I could return car for a coupe...THANKS...hope to hear from others on this issue/bug/design blunder/ etc.

..the carbon fiber dash trim..why do i see on some, & not on others..& its not listed as a trim option, nor Z51.. & how can I tell if the model I'm shopping for has Magnetic Ride Control? I wish GM would stop separating key options and just make a fully loaded option.

I'm seeing a lot of 2014-2015 C7 for sale on the internet for around $30-36k with decent miles (40k-60k miles) What's your opinion on that? I'm probably gonna pull the trigger soon and sell the c5 for one, I can get $11-12k for the c5 knocking the c7 price down even more. Most likely will get the manual transmission but we'll see (:

If a Corvette has Z51 package can it still have a 1LT? The most I have seen are 3LTs I was wondering when u get the z51 does it default to a 3LT?

Chevy, I think, did a pretty decent job with the C7 Stingray W/Z51 package and the GS, in terms of how well they perform on the track. However, they need get the Z06 going. They had us believe that the C7 Z06 is a better track car than the ZR1. And most of us aren't buying it, especially with the Z06 overheating issues. And, no disrespect to the Camaro team at GM. I think they've been doing a fantastic job with the Camaro. And I neither do I mean any disrespect to Camaro fans. But a Camaro shouldn't be able to outperform a Z06 on the track. Well, at least not one that uses the exact same engine. The Corvette team's gotta do better with the Z06. And, hopefully, the new and upcoming ZR1 will be king again.

Is the stingray a naturally aspirated engine?

I know I'm real late to this party but I have to tell someone. I got the opportunity to drive a C7 ZO6 today. Words will never be able to describe the experience. Your foot could easily kill you in this car. I have never been so afraid of a car before. 60mhp and barely tap the gas and the car will break the tires loose like you sitting still. Crazy power. Insane power. I been in some fast cars, but this thing seriously scared me. Badges all over saying 650hp and 650 ft lbs of torque..........its one of those cars you can feel in your chest. When I got out of that thing, my nerves were shot. Took an hour just to calm down. I loved it, absolutely loved it, but it also scared me. Thinking just anyone with enough cash could buy something like this. That's scary. There should be a special licence for cars like that. Not just anybody should be able to jump into a monster like that. That car is a beast and way to much car even for most experienced drivers. The old man that owns it, he's scared of the car. This man dragged raced cars his entire life and he'll tell you that ZO6 has no business being on public roads. It's a full blown race car. And the one I drove today was a convertible. No roll cage, or 5 point harness, just 650hp casket. Beautiful car. Words just do it no justice.

My 2016 jumps out of first gear. The force actually hurts your hand if it's on the shifter. The sound is frightening.

We have exactly the same corvette aside from the carbon fiber roof , but do you like the grill ? I'm not too much of a fan of it :(

I want. To trust this but calling the zo6 over heating a" minor problem " makes me wonder what. Else are you wrong about , all these cars over heat and have to come off the track in 15 min allowed to cool off for 2 hours. To go back on the track to get another 15 min,

Nice video. I'm looking for a sports car in the 100,000 to 125,000 U.S. range. Why is it so hard to find nice round gauges.. In the 70's all sports cars had at least 7 gauges .... Speedometer... RPM ... Fuel ... fuel pressure ... oil pressure ... oil temp ... water temp ..... When the idiot lights for transmission or engine comes on ... bye bye `~5000.00$ ... Any idea which car comes with more gauges...

you didn't mention the issue with direct injection and how the carbon buildup can cause engine issues. GM is correcting this by creating a hybrid motor for future corvettes of both fuel injection and direct injection
