You say it's best to take supplements with food, but are there exceptions? For example, if I was fasting to fight off an infection, whilst taking zinc, or if I was taking l glutamine to help heal the gut lining, but wanted to keep my gut empty in the meantime
@DrOsborne
@DrOsborne 2 года назад
Always exceptions, depending on the situation. Amino Acids can be taken on an empty stomach or away from other protein sources to enhance absorption.

@@DrOsborne I heard tryptophan released by eating sugar/starch wipes all the other amino acids out of the bloodstream, is this an oversimplification? How would that contrast tryptophan release from exercising? How would this impact meal timing? (i.e. if I wanted to maximise my catecholamines early in the day to aid focus, would staying clear of sugar help this?)

From my experience, I get heart palpitations and twitching when I’m on 300-400 mg of magnesium for a couple of months or so but when I stop taking it it goes away and I’m fine again. Does that mean I don’t need it? I eat very healthy gluten free lots of fruits and veggies daily. No dairy. Blood pressure normal very healthy in general. Thanks for reading this. 😀❤️🙏

I get that too with bisglycinate orally. Not with citrate orally or magnesium chloride on my skin. Also the brand that says “calm” has additives that irritate my system. I sometimes get that same symptom with calcium at night. Since calcium & magnesium balance each other make sure you’re not deficient in calcium.

HI Peter, I got my Serum and RBC Mg. assessed. I have plenty of Serum Mg yet low in RBC Mg. It was suggested by a functional nutritional practitioner that I add in B6 and a smaller amount of Mg Bisglycinate. Also, exercise can increase Mg burn rate. Learning from Sally K. Norton on oxalates, she hold the position that Mg from plants are tied up with oxalic acids. I am also focused on my digestion via carnivore elimination diet. Awesome! I really appreciate your dedication to your craft and knowledge.

Thanks so much for such valuable information I learned a lot however I also read that taking too much magnesium can hurt you in the same way of taking too little or none at all is that correct? So how do I know the balance if I’m taking too much of the stuff or when I’m not taking enough if the symptoms are the same. Also can you talk about how long to take it for, including other minerals and vitamins, like do you take a break or do you just keep taking it forever how do you know when to stop without getting checked by a doctor ? thank you so much

Magnesium in foods that are also high in oxalates (spinach, chard, almonds, sweet potaties, etc.) is not bioavailable. Oxalates specifically seek out magnesium and bind tol it. This is also one of the most common causes of magnesium deficiency.

Hi I have watched many of your videos and find them quite eye-opening, interesting and informative. What I would like to ask you is - I have epilepsy and was suggested that magnesium L-threonate may be a help to me and possibly/hopefully get me out of seizure medication. Or is there another type of mineral or vitamin that you might suggest. I would like to find out what would be the maximum amount of magnesium and what time(s) of the day to take it. I was taking 150 mg of magnesium citrate at lunch for my digestive system. 200 mgs of magnesium glicinate around 9 PM and another 200 mgs of magnesium glicinate when I wake up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom. I was taking the magnesium gliciinate for my sleep and epilepsy. Also I could ask I have heard if you have GERD to avoid certain foods, but I am not sure if you should avoid them all day or can they be eaten in the morning or lunch. Also is there any written form somewhere that I could print. Thanks for your help Craig
