they changed it this year that you can only enter through the Magnum entrance if you're staying at hotel Breakers or lighthouse point otherwise you have to go to the main entrance
Yeah I know years past people have told me they could park in the back parking but when I saw the post about having to get the pass from the front desk I was pretty sure they were changing it up
Back in the day I used to park at CP Shores and use Magnum gate for "Running of the Bulls" towards Maverick and SV. Then they got smart and not let us park in the back unless we had hotel rooms. No problem, I just walk on the Boardwalk to the Magnum entrance. Now this year they take that option away as well.
Real glad we upgraded from the express hotel to the breakers then! I wasn’t gonna be too happy walking a mile to Frontier Town, probably wasting a good 30 minutes I could use riding Millenium and Maverick and waiting for Sv 😂

For many of the RU-vid videos that I play, I just listen to them in the background while I am working on chores or fun projects. However, when an Okaycoasters video is posted, I drop everything and give it my full attention. Your suggestions for early morning starts at Cedar Point are right on the money! I have often visited Cedar Point with friends who have autism. We follow a plan similar to yours in the morning, then pick up their Autism passes once the main gates open to the general public. Can’t wait for your next video!
Actually, there is a way to get into the magnum gate without staying at a hotel. (At least it works for me) All you do is keep to the left lanes at the front gate of the park. This will allow you to drive around the back of the park and get to the water park parking lot. Then, you can enter through the Magnum gate. This works for my family but keep in mind we have the 150 Years pass, so this may be different for some of you. Keep in mind, it does take a bit to drive around the park.
Must be talking about going on a Saturday. Been 3 times this season (2021) and no crowds at all (Sun, Fri, and Thurs). Went today (Thursday) and walked on everything. Sunny 80 degree June weather. Got there leisurely at 1 and was done by 5. Love this park

My son and I have had Platinum for many years. We have been to many Cedar Fair parks, in addition to some other independent operations, and these tips are on point. I can not stress the importance of getting up early. On a busy day you can do more in the first two hours than you can in the next six hours.
i live an hour out from Cedar Point, my top tips are 1. hit the park on hot weekdays, noticeably less people around, drink passes are your best friend 2. if the rides down, its worth waiting 10-20 minutes, ive gotten 15 minute waits on steel and maverick just because I stuck around when it was down 3. if you are staying till close (which i do every visit) hit the ride you want to ride the most right at closing, my friends and I enter the queues for our top ride of the day right at closing, like millennium or steel at 10pm, most people by that point filter out for closing. the line wont feel as daunting since you no longer have a time crunch. plus you beat the traffic 4. when in doubt, hit rougarou its always walk on
i got there for early entry on opening weekend and steelvengence was broken down until 11 oclock but i still got the first ride of the day on it to celebrate my birthday! drove all the way there for it and it was worth it!
In April I booked 3 days at Cedar Point Hotel and Park for August 2021 with the family. I am glad I just crossed this video because I am about to take notes and make this a good experience.
10:05 seems very precise! On day two of my last CP trip on day two I parked in the lot in front of Cedar Point Shores. Since I was going to the water park, it only made sense. And I knew I’d be heading back into the park later on, so it saved me a long walk back to Steel Vengeance and Maverick.
Cedar Point "The Winning Formula" is still your "Thriller" Masterpiece and just like Michael Jackson you'll be trying to live up to yourself for the rest of your RU-vid career. I still give this video a thumbs up.
The fast pass prices once almost messed me up because I live in the sun belt and can survive one ten and sun but people at Hershey have to be at the water park at 3:00 fast passes were max price but even laugh track only had 30 minute wait.
@@davedoesthingsdreaded I think they're saying they almost paid premium for Fast Track at Hersheypark on a hot day only to have the ride park empty when everyone went to the water park to cool off and found short lines in the amusement park. I think the other mumbo jumbo is them bragging about their apparent ability to withstand high temperatures???
What a day had over ten rides (thanks to fast pass of course) and you’re helpful tips about going straight to the back of the park managed to get 3 on steel vengeance and 2 on Maverick as well as just about one on everything else 🔥🤟🏻
Last weekend I rode almost 40 rides, I got double the rides on a busy Saturday with a fast pass plus then on Friday with little crowds with no fast pass
When I went this past Monday, the line for steel vengeance by 10am was at least an hour, maybe 2. I didn't have early access, but my tickets still got me in the park early so I waited until 10 for steel vengeance and got on the first car, then had a 10 minute wait for maverick, and went straight to millennium, then gatekeeper only had a 15 minute wait so hopped on that. Then just got some of the smaller credits. Worked out really nicely.
I love how you worded it at the end with the fireworks on lake erie, something about it makes me want to be there so bad and have the whole place to myself
excellent video! excellent tips! my friend, and I'm sharing with other people, and I agree staying at the Breakers (which I have with my two teenage Sons a few years ago) with a 2-day pass three-day visit was a lifetime memorable experience.
Sir, great video! As a child I spent every summer at least twice at Cedar Point. I haven't been there since early 2000's, which is a (live in Maine now) travesty! My wife and I expect to visit in August, you have enlightened me to what thrills we'll be expecting. I've told her about CP and tend to never shut up about it. It's absolutely time to revisit my childhood playground! Looking forward to part deux!!

5:19 Gatekeeper long line ? Only if the crew is slow. If not, the past few years it's never been past 30 minutes. But that's for a good reason. I was there last week and the crew announced as I was about to get on that the did 20 trains in 24 minutes. 640 people through in 24 minutes. Just gotta hope those guys are working :)

I do 3 days at CP. I game plan on what side of the park I do. He is right get to the big rides first. You can do up to 5 rides in the first hour. Love this park

@@ThemeParkAvenue This year they have free lockers you can use right before you get to the stairs up to the platform. They are tiny and basically designed for phones and maybe other small items like car keys.

I'm going to ceader point soon and I'm very excited and I'm gonna ride the Mellinium force, Gemini, top thrill dragster, and alot of the tall ones. Honestly, the Gemini has been the tallest coaster I've rode, but soon, tip thrill dragster will be the tallest once I go. :)
Whats really cool is you can see cedar point from south bass island put-in-bay and just to know you are only about 40 minutes away and you can see the amazing skyline
Really nice video. I know you talked briefly about it but I can’t recommend the fast lane plus enough. If you don’t get it, you’re likely to have a pretty bad experience with insane lines. The only circumstance where you probably shouldn’t get a fast lane plus is if you are a regular at the park and live within an hour and a half or so of the park.
I survived fine without one, but I was there for two weekdays. Some of the rides like Millennium Force and Magnum were basically walk-ons. The long lines were for Steel Vengeance-1-1/2 each wait and Maverick-that line never dies down!
@@RY30DM that’s good to hear. You can most definitely get by without one on weekdays if you’re there for multiple days. I just value it more for my trip because I like to go to the beach for a while on my second day. I’ll go all out with the fast lane plus on the first day and then take advantage of the early entry the next day. After lunch I’ll chill at the beach for a while and go back in the park at dinner and try to catch some rides until close
I just went and learned a lot, you need early entry, because every ride is a walk on, including millennium force and maverick, it’s so nice, and also, rides you don’t need to hit is magnum, sorry but it sucks, and also steel vengeance is the best by far, so definitely wait even if 90 minutes wait, and top fuel is amazing so also wait for that as soon as park opens
Great video! I do enjoy the Marina Gate though. I like to start at least one of my mornings there with a marathon on Millennium Force and that's the best way to do that.
Thanks! I always exit thru that gate during the day to walk over to the Restaurant. Haven’t got the chance to enter thru it at opening yet but you can’t go wrong with a marathon on Millennium Force.
The one time I visited I had obsessive plans but during my full days there (I stayed at Breakers) the park kinda forced me to go to SV to ride once or twice, Then Maverick once, Then I'd marathon MF until it got crowded at about 11; then I'd ride Rougarou several times until about 11:45pm, then I'd head down to Gatekeeper and ride that several times until about 1pm. Then I'd go counter clockwise around the park once, hitting all the coasters (including TTD when it wasn't down) then clockwise again, usually ending at either Millennium Force or Steel Vengeance, depending on down time and one train ops; both re SV (it was May 2018). This is an example of a picture perfect amusement park. Fair amount of thrill rides and family rides. Not to mention it has a beach. Hopefully I can go sometime.
Great info! I grew up in Ohio (lived there for 30 years) and we went to Cedar Point at least a couple times every summer. It was so different back then. No early access, fast lanes, passes, etc. But it was still so much fun and I miss it so much! This video brought back a lot of great memories!
Excellent advice! This is pretty much the game plan I came up with for my visit on the weekdays this summer. I still haven't done Hotel Breakers. After tax, that would cost an extra $310 a night compared to what I have booked. With that difference, I could easily get fast lane plus every day. I'm not too bummed over being forced to use the main entrance for platinum entry, since Steel Vengeance will be closed. I'll want to focus on Millennium Force and Maverick for that first hour. But it does make it a lot more tricky trying to go between the dry park and the waterpark midday, not wanting to make multiple treks to the car in the main lot. I look forward to your Part 2!
You make a great point about the fast pass especially during the weekdays......Not much of a benefit going thru the Magnum gate if your staying during the week with SV closed. Thanks again!
Great video. Been running this park for 25 years easy. Very helpful to travelers. Plan plan, oh yeah plan. Oh yeah if you can come in October or late September you get 8-10 free haunted houses and a cool aesthetic too
I went to cedar point for 1 day rode all the coaster except gate keeper because of the chain breaking love this place especially steel vengeance yes I had the fast lane plus I wad coming from Maryland and I wasn't going to stand in line for 3 hours lol then the next day I went to kings island rode all their coasters with the fast lane plus 🙃🙃🙃🙃🙃🙃
As someone who has gone to early entry once to twice a week for YEARS I can tell you that your early entry take is a bit off. Pre gold pass EE was great but nowadays you get one or two EE rides at most. And SV is almost guaranteed to open at least 30 minutes after the time it’s supposed to open, this doesn’t stop lines from forming outside the queue though.
There is a sidewalk along Blue Streak. Use that early in the morning and use the Marina Gate for early entry. Using this you'll be on one of the first rides for either Valravn and/or Millennium (pick your choice) since you are ahead of the main gate crowd. Then head to Maverick for a minimal que and then Steel Vengeance right before opening to the public/at opening (wait is usually 45min or less). Go ride Dragster afterwards if open (wait is around 30min). This has worked for me almost every time.
This is what I do I drive up early and the first day I have a beach day and then I have 2 park days because that way I can have 2 full days and I recommend staying at hotel breakers because it adds to the experience

Thanks so much! Hope you have a great time on your trip. From my personal past experience Cedar Point seems to be better to visit either later into May or June. Unless something new opens I personally try and wait a few weekends after it opens before my first visit of the season.
If you have a Fast Pass Plus, and, staying at Breakers....does the fast pass start at 9? 10? What is the best strategy for this combination? Awesome video, taking my daughter for her 9th birthday next month....I’ve waited her whole life for this lol
Sounds like a great trip! According to the website if your staying at the Breakers your good to go an hour early. You will need to grab that early entry pass from the front desk tho
The Fast Lane wristbands are not allowed to be used until official park opening at 10am. Everyone in the park from 9-10 am uses the regular queue lines for every ride and coaster.
First timer to the park and had to come back and say thank you okaycoasters for this guide! Cedar Point is a lot to take in, but we studied this video and managed to get on every ride in the park (and then some) in a day. A 13 hour day, but it was amazing! So much better than we anticipated and we'll be coming back again. Staying at Hotel Breakers was where the magic begins. Having the extra hour, the side entrance and the walk to the park was A++ We didn't want to go home!!
I used to live about an hours drive from CP, and went weekly summer/fall season. Now i live 30 minutes from knotts berry farm(also a cedar fair park). Cedar point is the best park on this planet, and its really the only place i miss in ohio.
I've always considered entering through Magnum gate. I assume that at regular park hours anybody can park at the Cedar Shores area and enter through Magnum gate.
The back / Magnum gate is the only gate I use. Period. As someone who has been to the park 4 times already this year ( and they just opened last week ), this is good advice. Corkscrew is almost always a walk on though.
There are no days the park is open till midnight this year. The latest hours I saw was till 10 pm. Cedar point shores is also closing earlier at 6 pm. Cedar point Castaway bay indoor water park is also closed for renovations.
Yes you are right. The midnight part I was talking about the Beach closing at Hotel Breakers. I sure wish the park would stay open until midnight tho. That would be fun
Top thill was open for 1 full day out of the 5 I was at Cedar Point, and on and off through out for about 30 minutes, I rode it once and it went down right after I got off.
My #1 Tip would be if you aren't buying fast lane, go to the park on a day that it is SUPPOSED to rain. There are always places to hide under while it rains for a little, and the lines become SOOOO short. I waited 45 minutes to ride Steel Vengeance
I haven't been to Cedar Point in years, but I have been a lot. I've stayed at the Breakers, the on site RV park, and I've taken the boat into Cedar Point. Best entry I know of is the Valraven entrance, although I'm not sure if it is a shorter walk to Steel Vengence or of the Magnum entrance is. Also, it may be a new thing that they only allow boat entry from Valraven. We would park in the main lot, then walk around the park to the Valraven entrance.
