Could we use a cable leader splitter for regulating them both with a reptitemp thermostat? Otherwise an extra $100+ per enclosure to add dimmer thermostats is a bit out of my price range atm😅

Isn't all IR A and IR B converted into IR C being ambient and basking surface temperatures? This is a great combination but for nocturnal species like most snakes, they won't benefit from ir a because they don't bask. They absorb all heat as ir c being ambient Temps. Halogens burn out so often.

I just bought a tokay gecko. I bought one and the tallest enclosure they had was a 12x12x20. I got the following -Zoo med 40w nano dome lamp fixture (3.5 inch dome) -40w Zoo med nano basking spot lamp (it says daylight, heat, and basking on the front of it) The store employee told me that enclosure would be big enough. And he also told me to set the heat lamp on top of the wire mesh of the enclosure. I did that and I smell something funny. Not sure if the ceramic has to burn off or what. It’s odd that I have to put the lamp on top of the mesh. My house temp is 67-70 F. What do you recommend I use for heating when the basking light isn’t on? It’s a 12x12x20 front open tank. Thank you. Basically, night time heat.

Can you use both of these (both on a separate dimmer) + a Shade Dweller, all at the same time for a Leopard Gecko? Or do you suggest alternating the Halogen and DHP?

How do you set this up with a herpstat, settings-wise? I’m an experienced keeper and I understand what the snake needs and why halogen+DHP is good for them, but the halogen + DHP setup is new to me and I’m having trouble finding info about how to set this up. (My new enclosures and lights, etc arrive tomorrow.) I fully understand how to set up a halogen bulb or a DHP individually, but it’s the combo of the two and how to set them up to work together that I’m not 100% clear on, if that makes sense. (Again, settings and thermostat-wise.) If you (or anyone) could tell me how you have used this setup, I would appreciate it BIG time! What I’m not clear on: where you have the halogen and DHP positioned relative to one another, where each probe is situated, what target temp you have each heat source set to on the herpstat, and whether the settings for the DHP change at night when the halogen goes off. Thanks in advance!

I'm a little confused to how I would go about controlling them with seperate thermostats. How is it that the heat from one lamp won't throw off the thermostat reading of the other lamp?
