I've made a fabulous sounding Kick Drum machine, mixing the classic JOMOX MODBASE 09 Kick Drum Module with the ULTRA-RARE CWEJMAN QMMF-4 Multimode Filter and Resonator.
I'm putting together the ultimate Techno modular rack, and the Kick is sounding superb. So lucky to get hold of the 'unobtanium' Cwejman unit, the saturation switch is absolutely superb.

Great Dominic , I love Surgeon s music and ethic as well, the QMMF beyond my means, best filter around, alas Surgeon has changed rig now to a Leploop, Pulsar 23 , OTO Boum and controls sometimes with a DJ fader fox or Beatstep pro doing away with Octatrakt as he hates menu diving By the time you read this it probably changed again, if you read this of course Thanks anyway look forward to your talks on Sonictalk with Mr Batt👍🆒🇬🇧🇬🇧

Great informative content but I think you missed one point here demonstrating filtering option that QMMF-4 offers, it is a very precise beast in selecting which frequencies you want to filter out. There is also some nice tricks using the pre / post outputs that you can feed back into another mixer module so yo can get both dry and wet sounds depending your audio routing and just pick certain frequencies you want. I might do some audio demo coupled with a BLD for anyone interested since I don't own anymore the Jomox module. By the way, another cool trick I noticed from Surgeon is to play a 4/4 for example 909 kick along a HP filtered off beat Jomox bass and you get a pure techno groove !

Thanks a lot Dominic, these sound awesome. Slap, boom, thump, it's all there. It's amazing how much can go into KD synthesis! I used to have a Kick lancet by vermona, the range was massive but the sweet spot was actually pretty small. I now have a couple of MFB machines on which I am trying to make the most out of the KD. Tanzmaus, I seem to have dialed in but I am still struggling with the Tanzbar 2; maybe it's me, maybe it's because the the filter decay is replaced by a picth decay which alter the sound differently. Anyway, always nice to learn more about it and your video was instructive. I particularly liked your introduction to that 4 notes polyphonic primitive drum machine.

@@Mr.Wiggly Oh the Tanzmaus is a real keeper. It's one of those mid-priced machines that you decide to try one day, on a whim, and just won't let go of. The interface is... well, not for everyone it seems, but the sound is great, as part of a rig or on its own. I try to stay well clear of everything modular so the Cwejman is a big no no; I already felt that having one machine dedicated to KD was an overkill... It gets really hard to justify in a hobbyist studio!

Thanks for demoing the Modbase, I currently think about buying one. The price of that filter tho is way beyond my comfort zone, will have to substitute it with something cheap. Any suggestions?
