It’s my favorite gun in the entire game, but I would say it’s a toss up between the 7mm and the muzzle loader. 9/10 times I’ll use the 7mm though.

@@wheatking69 Don't like breech loaders, and personally I like the peace of mind shooting something bigger like .300 or .338 for the really big animals anyway, so I choose the 30-06.

Please continue the Beginner Series 2022. Especially how to get over the staring hump/grind. Having to trudge throughout the map and discover all the outposts is really putting me off. I just wanna hunt the big animals.

If you're hunting on Layton, I recommend checking out the river that runs up and down the left side of the map. You should be able to find plenty of deer for grinding cash as well as the bigger animals like black bear and moose

That is the nice thing in this game. I walk to a outpost against the wind. On my way there I shoot many animals. Finding need zones and so on. It is not only a hunting game for me. Also a nature game which is beautiful to walk in.

If I could pick my favorite load out, just my favorite weapons in game. The 300 bronze color, M1 in red, crossbow in brown camo and the 454 revolver. However it doesn't allow the capability to ethically take everything in game, as stuff like ducks and geese are often beyond the reach of the crossbow.

I don't really have a standard loadout as I like to change it up frequently to use different weapons. But this set up looks pretty good especially if you put slugs in the cacciatore for quick follow up shots.

I'm gonna throw a mad loadout that works on here: 7mm for 4-9, 22H for 1-2, .44 for 3-8. With 5 callers, binos, consumables & a Tripod stand it comes to 22.11, so with the pack mule perk it's on the money. I'm just waiting for the 22H to be fixed & it'll be outstanding 😎

The 300 or 7mm, 44 Revolver and a bow with all three arrow types so far has covered me for everything I do. Let's me carry a tent or tripod and some callers too without pack mule.

I tend to run this loadout on maps with large animals: - .300 - M1 or .303 - .243 - 22LR I also have the Pack Mule skill so I can carry tents as well. On maps with smaller animals like Te Awaroa or Rancho del Arroyo I take the .300 out, and switch it for a shotgun.

Standard loadout for me is the 7mm for class 4-9, 243 for class 2-3, and 22. for class 1. I like it because it allows me to just load up a reserve and explore while still being able to take anything that catches my fancy. I use more specific loadouts for reserves I am spending a lot of time in and for particular game. However, it's nice to leave this loadout on my character so if I come back to the COTW after a break, I can just go and explore! It also leaves plenty of room for a tent to drop! :)

@@MadMarco It's really a solid one! If you have the Modern Rifle pack, the .22 Zarza weighs the same as the Virant (2.5lbs). I have started running with the Kullman (3.5lbs) for a little more stopping power and versatility!

My ultimate loadout is, 22lr, 243, 303, 300 and 12ga that only takes up 17 weight units and that's no problem for me because I have the pack mule skill, plus i rarely use callers.

I've always thought the 243 got too much hate. It has always been great for coyotes. Way easier to drop them in their tracks with that instead of the 223.

I like the video, short sweet and to the point. I really like the normal videos with the hunting journeys, but this tutorial video was made knowing how long it needed to take, and what info/length was needed in respect to the viewers instead of the RU-vid algorithm. Speaking of, for some reason I was unsuncribed so be sure to shout out next vid that RU-vid is doing a purge, cause if heavy viewers like me get hit, surely others have too!

Hey Flinter, love the vids. I didn't enjoy the game at the start, but watchn your guides and what not has helped change my mind now I love this game. I've recently has an ownership issue.. Xbox told me I didnt own the dlcs and couldn't start up the game it's now fixed, buuut all my tents and hunting stands decoys are all gone just deleted. I thought maybe they'd be in storage but no luck.. have you ever had this happen?

I like to use the M1 for 4-6, the .300 for 7-9, the .243 for 2-3 and then I pick my small game hunter on a per map basis. This is because there are no maps in the game where I feel I need both the LR and a shotgun, so carrying both feels wasteful. This is because maps never have both ducks (where the LR excels) and flush-required birds (where the shotguns excel), and I find that both weapons can handle rabbits. Also I like have more than 1 shot, which rules out the 7mm. I also find that the M1 and the .300 are both better than the 7mm within their own niche.

This is basically the same loadout i use besides the spot of the shotgun being whatever weapon I feel like taking, I just wish we had a bolt action 7mm even 3 rounds would be enough its just the single shot that always has me looking for an alternative to the 7mm

If you're not hunting for class 9 animals, the m1 (30-06) is really close but has 5 shots On those maps I bring the m1 for 4-8, 243 for 2-3 and either a shotgun (if I want to bag some class 1s) or my 44 magnum with flat noses (If I get myself in the middle of a ton of elk running around and stomping me, or maybe for bear)

I run the 30-30 the 16ga drilling rifle and the 22lr or sometimes I replace the 30 30 with the muzzle loader or the pellet gun but mostly run the 30 30 16ga drilling and 22lr

I'd like to add that .30-30 caliber weapons cover the same amount as .243, and that the Whitlock is great for anyone who wants to practice or knows how to get within close range since it can't use scopes, and it shoots quickly enough that if you can get that close, you can take out up to four animals before they get away due to reload.

i respectfully disagree with this loadout. but to each there own. My Ultimate Loadout would is... 22 Hornet = class 1-2 “Long Range” 357mag = class 2-6 “Close Range” 303 = class 4-8 “Long Range” 45-70 = class 4-9 “Close Range” + 1-4x Scope ( 22H ) + 4-8x Scope ( 303 ) + Pistol Scope ( 357 ) + 45-70 Tritium Sights + Binoculars & Night Vision Binoculars. and you still have enough room for your callers. Would Like to see you try this loadout in a video if your looking for a new video idea you could try doing videos with other peoples Ultimate Loadout, maybe would be a cool idea.

Poly tips > Soft points every single time for me. Vital hits guarantee a quick bleed out so I always focus on reaching vitals in the first place. Extra bleed means nothing if I can't hit the vitals to begin with.

With what packs I've bought, best for me is Virant .22, Ranger .243, .45-70, and the .300 Canning for longest range shots on big game. I just prefer the .45-70 to the 7mm because haha cowboy gun and because I rarely need to take any shots past 150

I've spent a decent amount of time testing out what weapons work best for me (have all weapon packs except for wp4) and for me the best all-round loadout is .300 magnum, 30-06 eckers and .243, with room for one extra weapon like bow/crossbow, .22, shotgun or a handgun. The .303 might be slightly more powerful than 30-06, but I think it just looks too small like a toy gun.

My load put is the Grelck Drilling gun with birdshot in the shotgun for class 1 and the 9.3x74r for class 5-9. Then I have the Vasquez Cyclone .45 for class 2-4. Covers every class in 2 guns and the Vasquez is quality for taking our whole herds of animals as they don’t get spooked by a gun blast.

Hey quick question, since in this loadout bring 2.43 which class for 2-4, why dont switch the 7mm for 9.3 grelck (class 5-9)? They hold the same 1 round rifle ammo. Plus it can use 16g shell at the same time switching the 12g shotgun. Thanks

My load is to get all classes with just 3 guns I don’t use a backpack to reduce noise and visibility 7mm class 4-9 45 Vasquez’s cyclone class 2-4 I like the air rifle because it’s quiet and sometimes the animal herd will comeback with a call after you take one of its friends down and they’ll just walk around their dead friend casually the only con is range so you have to get close so I don’t use a backpack to reduce noise and visibility Any 22LR for class 1 I use the Andersson .22LR with reddot to level up pistol rank and ZARZA-15 .22LR or Virant for range

Just curious, is there a reason to choose the .243 over the .223 docent? That covers 2-4 and would have minimal overlap with the .22lr and the 7mm mag. I've been able to drop the lower classes on the spot with little to no effort using it, just wondering if there's something I'm unaware of about that ranger .243?

Pretty sure it's because the .243 is a free starter weapon instead of paying for the .223 docent, I believe he was aiming for the cheapest viable loadout.

You can carry the 300, m1, 223, 22, the longbow, 2 scopes, 4 lures, the scent eliminator and binoculars without a backpack, you even have .25 of space left for some Vienna sausages or whatever your snack of choice happens to be. That's the ultimate loadout I tell ya wut

im a beginner and just got the 7mm and i learned on any class 9 other than lion to try and get liver and i consistendtly get lung liver stomach then tracking is basicly nothing

On most animals a double lung will drop them and a single lung still is a short track, I usually try for the heart and at least always get a lung and often heart

i have almost 500 hours in this game, and i never bought a first aid kit, because i can aim, and i am able to use the wasd keys^^ at the moment, i use the 22 hornet/cacciatore, the solokhin and the 300. with the who`s deer perk, i only need the deer grunt caller to lure almost everything in, and i have enough room for a tent, to get anything else out of my storage if i need something.

FAKs are handy for dropping off cliffs instead of going all the way around. You just pop it when you hit the ground and you're fine.

@@DaSoda70 if you like stuff like this, have fun doing so. i rather go all the way around. but i shoot stuff more up close and personal, not from miles away, so 99% of the time, i can just walk up to the animal and pick it up. if i could, i would hunt with a spear^^, but i like the crossbow as well.

@@generalsaufenberg4931 I mostly hunt with a bow. There are plenty of very vertical maps on COTW. SRP, Vurhonga, Te Awaroa, Cuatro, etc. Hunt the way you want, but don't put on a superiority complex about it.

My load out is Anderson and Drilling total Weight of all 5 (without Attachments) Anderson for class 1 this Handgun is really accurate the scope gives better Aiming on Range, Class 2-4 16 GA Buckshot from the Drilling and the 9.3x74R Polymer-Tip from the Drilling for 5-9 classes. ps.16 GA Birdshot filled in the Drilling make this thing to a Sriper Shotgun when the Geese in Hirschfelden Fly low and you can mark them wite the scope you can hit dem all with no Problems. if you have another class 2-4 weapon ; )

I use the Grelck too but I have bird shot in shotgun and use the Vasquez for class 2-4. It’s great for taking out whole herds of class 4 say Pronghorn as they don’t get properly spooked off the noise. I switch it up from time to time but that load out does it all for me

I carry the virant, ranger .243, rangemaster and a tripod on almost every map. (Unless it doesn't have anything bigger than class 6 like te awaroa, then i switch the rangemaster with the m1 or eckers) (missisipi and rancho i swap the virant with a shotgun.) Tho im interested in using some more difficult weapons once i get a diamond of each animal.

The .243 polymer bullets will definitely hit vitals on class 5 or 6 but it wont kill very fast. I've gotten double lung + heart shots on mule deer and they still run 20-30 meters. I dont mind tracking cuz i know i still passed the harvest check.

Has the 7mm recently changed? You're all saying it covers 4-9 but it's now 4-8 if you want the ethical shot. Bit of a pain in the ass that you can't get ethical shots while using lower level ammo tbh. If you can drop big game quick and painless with lower calibres it shouldn't matter imo.

with all the new things, Kullman .22 (1-2); Solokhin MN1980 (3-7); .300 Canning Magnum (7-9) could be the best loadout. I dont care for ducks, but you mighn need a shotgun there...find one light that can shoot many times (Cacciatore probably still the best)

I dont like the 7mm, i just cant hit shots with it for some reason. For me the 30.06 is my favorite gun for 4-8 and then for 9 i just use the .338 (though im saving for the .300 atm to try that out). Bolt action rifles just feel a lot nicer

I wouldn't say that the the .300 is enough of a step up from the .338 to justify the price, but if you have nothing else to buy and/or frequently reach out beyond 250-300 meters it's probably still worth it. Honestly haven't noticed much of a difference at most ranges when it comes to accuracy (scope sway) but for shots at 400 or 500 meters it does make quite a difference. The .300 also seems a tad more powerful, oddly enough. I took plenty of animals without issue with the .338 before I personally switched.

@@vicatoren3967 my issue with the .338 is always seem to not penetrate the lung on lets say a buffalo from like 120m away it will get stuck in the flesh on a side shot and for that reason i want to try the .300, atleast if i dont get the vital first shot ill have another one ready in the mag.

@@xXdeathshotXx If you've got the money and aren't missing anything more inportant in your arsenal, the .300 is certainly a better gun in almost every aspect. Don't get too disappointed if it doesn't solve the problem entirely - that's just the challenge with the biggest game.

@@vicatoren3967 well im currently running the .30-06 and then id have the .300 for covering class 4-9 but what guns can you recommand for class 1-4? I carry the .243 for 2-6 but havent found a good gun for class 1 yet (using the strecker shotgun atm but need something with more range ).

@@xXdeathshotXx I also carry the .243 for classes 2-3, I don't shoot class 1 very often but if I'm doing so I'd bring a .22 (rifle or pistol, both work decently well; depends on available weight) or a shotgun depending on the distance I'm expecting to shoot at. So I'd say get a .22 for longer range class 1 stuff, no competition really. Both .22 lr and .22 h work, if you've got access to both I'd go for longrifle since it's lighter.
