Downdraft, I'm new to the woodworking hobby and I just purchased my new sander. I had no idea the mess it would make everywhere! I've been using my vice to hold the sander upside down and I clamp my shop-vac hose to the side where most of the dust falls to. It did minimize the dust, but still messy. My next project is the router table which brought me to your video. I had no idea that there was such a thing called a downdraft until now! If I am not fortunate enough to receive your downdraft grill, I'll probably making something like it in the future. Nevertheless I am enjoying your videos, keep up the good content. You inspire me!
Downdraft I love the fence dust extraction idea, entering the table just behind the reach of the fence! Also the wide slot to the left of the bit! Genius.
Beautiful job on the table Mark! My router table is easily one of my most used tools in the shop. I went with a similar lift, though I chose the incra version for the steel clean sweep magnalock inserts. It's made by jessem as well. I'm with you on lack of a need for a downdraft table when you use a festool dust extractor with their sanders. I'm doing some work in apartment and with my ct midi, ets ec 150/5 and rts 400 there's next to no dust left after sanding some desktop edges. Very nice design to incorporate the table into your workbench. Looking forward to more videos from you.👍

I am at a point where I am building my shop with my dream tools instead of picking up whatever I can get my hands on. I am saving up for the things I want to have in my dream shop :)
You may want to add a miter bar track that runs the length of the top. You will need it for feathrtboards, miter gage or mortising sled. I would also consider a half inch doubler around the lift. There is a large amount of weight between the router and lift. I like your choice of fences. It looks very sturdy.
If you really want to upgrade your router table and have it be the best router table out there, then you should add the Incra TS-LS positioner. It takes any router to the top level that a router table can be.
I use it all the time. I try to use it anytime possible so I can be free to do other things in the shop while it works. I have entered you into the giveaway :)
downdraft would be awesome in my shop especially as i have a very small workspace thats shared with my family and cant have dust getting everywhere i currently have to go outside to sand which is rough as i have no room outside whatsoever and have no money to buy my own table.
Your router table looks awesome, I am getting ready to install my woodpeckers router fence and you mention the t tracks have to be exactly 17 inches apart. Is the from inside edge to inside edge, outside edge to outside edge or center to center ?
Can you share where you purchased the clear couplings you used for the recessed DC port on your router top? I have been looking for something similar. TIA and an awesome video.
It would be the ultimate if you had a cast iron table (I think 3 are available, Harvey is the best) with the NextWave RS1000 CNC router fence. Then you would have the ultimate.
Down draft Personally I went with a router cart which I really regret lol. At the time didn’t have my cnc to make an accurate top and i way messed it up 🤷🏼♂️. Live and learn 😂

@@DudeSawdust OK, lets get rational. Choosing a tool because of the name written on it is not the way to demonstrate skill and judgement. Especially from a company that has been fined millions for price fixing. Plus you are usually forced to buy a flimsy plastic box it comes in- for more than a decent box (if you happened to need one).
That's a janky setup and your fence and table top look out of plane. If the table top was truly flat and your T tracks were flush with the table top, you wouldn't be having these problems. Having the T Track come past the fence can be used to secure Jigs and featherboards. Also, there is no need to secure a router plate to the router table. The weight of the rougher, plus the material you are pushing down on while routing is more than enough to keep the plate in place.
How can it be an ULTIMATE router table, when both the router height and fence position have to be set manually? So last century! It is not hard to build a digital router table. It also does not have a sliding mitre fence (I recommend linear bearings for this). Spindle lock also has to be engaged manually- when I press the 'change' button on my screen the router lifts and auto-locks. BTW, it is the dust that you CANNOT see that does the damage...
