Man, the fact that every game on the Genesis had it's OWN UNIQUE LOGO is one of the coolest freaking things in gaming history.. that will NEVER HAPPEN AGAIN.
12:14 This very logo actually made me freeze with fear when I was 3. I was alone in my brother and sister's room, not knowing how scary the thing would be when booting up the system. I couldn't do anything but stand in terror as the Jurrassic Park logo followed afterward, go to the gameplay demo footage, and repeat back to T Rex Sega logo again. My family wondered where I was. They turned off the game, and comforted me afterwards. I was frozen probably for about 10 minutes watching the loop of terror. I'm dead serious. Nevertheless, it's one of my favorite Sega logos to this day, and I don't remember. I'm just repeating what my family told me.
Thankfully I never felt fear from any of the logo sounds. And since noise is a must in my life, if a cartridge didn't boot, I'd usually be the first to notice. Whether by not hearing the logo or putting my ear next to the CRT tv screen to listen for the electrical inflection of the logo screen. I I didn't hear either of those two things, that's a definite case of Houston we have a problem.
In fact, I'm confused on the year when the jingle debuted. A guy on RU-vid says 1964, while some people say 1983. Seriously though, when is the year the famous jingle debuted?! I'm confused!
I feel that the different takes on the sega logo shows how loyal the devs are to sega, and the fact that sega allowed em to represent the logo in a creative manner
A prototype of the unreleased Mega Drive game, Akira, has finally been found and dumped, and it has its own Sega logo, so that's something for a future update. Also: MEGA DRIVE / GENESIS - Mickey Mania Sep 1994 prototype (same as the final, except it has a "LICENSED BY SEGA ENTERPRISES LTD." string) - Shinobi III / Sonic Crackers (both of these games have an alternate logo if you soft reset during gameplay) - Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (early prototypes from the Nick Arcade proto to the Aug 21st alpha use the same logo as Sonic 1, so you could add a note for that one) - Sonic the Hedgehog 3 (the Nov 3rd prototype has a glitched version of Sonic 2's logo and is worth showing) SEGA CD - Sonic the Hedgehog CD (early prototypes have a Sega logo; check builds v0.02, "510" and v0.28A) Would ROM hacks and homebrew games also qualify for the compilation, because there are quite a few unique screens to be found there.
i hope you know i watch this video every day. i don’t know when it happened but somewhere along the line i got really sad and it seemed the only thing that made me happy was sega. so having an hour + of sega related stuff just helps a lot even if my mom thinks it’s weird that i watch it so frequently. i don’t know why i felt i had to mention this, but thanks for giving me that sweet serotonin in the form of sega logos
35:26 ya know, I've been thinking when I become a game designer, I'd make a remake of Sonic 3 and knuckles. the logo would be kinda like this one. but with varying ways of making GASE into SEGA. here's a few of them. all of them start off with the screen just saying GASE idea 1: knuckles uppercuts out of the ground like in the opening of the original game, but he scatters the letters making it SEGA before jumping on top of the logo and chuckling before hopping back off. idea 2: this time the GASE is red, but the blue starts inching in as we zoom in and reveal that it's sonic a blue spheres level, music and all. when he grabs the emerald at the end, a bright flash causes the now sega blue GASE to become SEGA. idea 3: the GASE sorta opens up like a garage or hangar door, and tails flies out in the tornado, carrying the correct logo, only backwards. like, correct spelling, but actually backwards. the screen follows behind as the SEGA jingle plays. idea 4: this time, the GASE is on a piece of metal, and a crane offscreen lifts it to reveal the death egg under construction in launch base, as the screen follows the metal sheet and eventually settles on a big blue metallic SEGA, with Eggman laughing beside it. idea 5: sonic ends up running past the GASE. then knuckles, then a shadowed mecha sonic(in this version I'm trying to keep mecha sonic's existence a secret. I'll possibly explain in an edit.), and finally tails stops beside it before stopping with a thud, shaking the screen slightly, and as the jingle sounds, tails looks at the screen and waves before flying off. idea 6: it starts off as GASE as usual, but then an aiming reticle appears out of thin air and blasts the GASE, causing it to spin, like in the last one. it eventually stops on SEGA, and the screen zooms out to reveal mighty with a sega menacer, fist-pumping triumphantly. a nice nod to sega's past. idea 7: this time, the GASE appears normal, but then a shadowy figure appears with a large sign. the figure places the sign above the GASE, at which case it's revealed that it's a Nintendo logo before a light shines on the figure, who turns out to be Mario! he runs away in fear as sonic jumps out from off-screen to bust the Nintendo logo, turning GASE into SEGA and posing. idea 8: this time, the GASE is transformed thanks to an old forgotten friend. out of nowhere, the GASE is destroyed by an offscreen projectile, causing it to become SEGA before the screen pans to the left to reveal a cackling fang the sniper, who then looks at the screen and poses before bouncing off the screen. idea 9: it's GASE again as usual, but then, a faint jingle can be heard offscreen followed by the screen fading and a voice saying "FUTURE". the GASE is now SEGA, and sonic then appears, as he poses and says "yes!" as he does in sonic cd. he's changed the future for the better by getting rid of GASE. idea 10, and my favorite: again it's just GASE, but then the screen flashes as a chiptune voice screams "WOO!" then the SEGA logo appears once the flash is over. if you haven't pieced it together, this a tribute to michael jackson, who partially composed sonic 3k's soundtrack. to emphasise this, before the title screen, a picture of MJ appears against a black backround as sonic moonwalks by wearing the classsic smooth criminal fedora, revealing a message saying: in rockin' memory of michael jackson. 1958-2009" also happens after the credits. minus the GASE to SEGA part, of course.

Sega's logo has had a lot of variants. From the classic, to exploding into frame, to assembling the logo and of course, the fade in and chant done by Sonic the Hedgehog. They're all undeniably Sega in their own ways.

Mega Bomberman does not have a SEGA logo due to it being a conversion of a Japan-exclusive Bomberman '94 that was sold overseas. EDIT: I was wrong. It's just the regular silent SEGA logo.
The Dude, you forgot some Master System (*) games if you're playing on a Japanese console, as well as Brazillian ones, and a few Game Gear ones like Roadrash.
There are a few exceptions regarding both companies; in EA's case there's Shaq Fu (which doesn't feature the regular EA logo animation either) and in Namco's case there's a few, which just happen to be those that didn't see a Japanese release (Pac-Attack, Pac-Man 2 and Weaponlord) There were also a few other companies that did that thing too, such as Codemasters and Tengen/Time Warner Interactive, but these too did have at least one exception. In Codemasters' case there's Micro Machines 2 (as shown in this very video), and for the latter, while all of Tengen's Sega releases lacked the logo, the 32X versions of T-MEK and Primal Rage are the only Time Warner Interactive releases to have the Sega logo, as these two were actually published by Sega instead; RBI Baseball '95, the only 32X game to actually be published by TWI, doesn't have it, and neither does the Genesis version of Primal Rage. This is just all on the Genesis/SCD/32X side of things, to note.
