Thank you for sacrificing your meals and money so the rest of us don't have to. When I first went plant based, I simply put BBQ sauce on everything until I got bored 6 months later: beans, salad, stir fry, etc.
I would recommend when you’re microwaving meals that you’ve purchased that come in plastic containers that you remove the items from the plastic containers for your personal welfare. It’s better to microwave them on your own plate or in your own bowl if they come in a plastic container.
Very interesting thanks. I would be hungry after loads of these meals, such small portions, I guess when you cook your own food and add loads of veg you get much bigger portions for the same calories.
Part of it is that some people want vegan food not for veganism reasons but for diet reasons. Part of it is that flash frozen veggies aren't that cheap in the US (fresh veggies can get expensive as well), add in trendy expensive ingredients, and you would risk giving your customers sticker shock if you sold bigger portions. At least the splendid spoon company learned that your overpriced food has to have some flavor to it for most people to be willing to receive such tiny bottles and bowls. Even if that flavor bumps up the price a bit or shrinks the portion shipped, the market is incredibly crowded and you need to differentiate yourself.
SAMEEEEE on the Purple Carrot!!! Twice now I have eaten something that was off and bad and tasted like Soap! The second time it made me extremely sick!!!
I never knew Purple Carrot had heat and eat meals. When I subscribed, it was more like Blue Apron, where they send you all the ingredients and recipe cards and you cook the meal. Only the fresh produce they sent was so marginal to bad, that I had to go grocery shopping to get the needed veggies. Kind of defeated the purpose for the cost, right? I tried Veestro for a while and was pretty happy, but I think I enjoy my own cooking best. It’s actually cheaper and tastes better.
Thanks for doing this review. Taste and portions matter so much. It would have been a shame to waste money on food that doesn’t provide that. Seems like there is quite a long way to go when it comes to the vegan meal delivery options. Any ideas on how to fill the gap with these companies?
Uh oh I’m a little scared of my upcoming purple carrot order now 😂 I’ve used their meal kits (that your cook yourself) off and on for a long time and really like them, but since I’m a student rn and have almost no time I thought I’d give the ready meals a go. Hopefully the ones I get are better than the ones you guys tried 😂 The meal kits are delicious though!! Would still recommend trying those even if the ready meals aren’t good. I always found them to be flavorful. Also you can customize the kits to add more spices or salt if you wanted.
I have bought about 15 of the Purple Carrot cook your own meal kits and really like them but they are always asking you to add a pinch of salt here, there, everywhere not to mention oil. They taste fine without it but I tried the frozen meals and found most have an offensive amount of salt. Not just a lot- I mean it’s offensive how much they put in. I bought two and will not again. Meanwhile I do keep my meal service account active. Once in a while they drop in a free sample of a vegan food product which I really like. You also get the recipe for every meal that week even if you don’t order it in your kit.
I appreciate this video. What bothers me about these meal service companies is the portion size. More suitable for a woman’s appetite. Why don’t these companies keep this in mind and offer up meals of at least two portion sizes.
Thanks for doing this! Couldn’t agree more with your Trifecta review lol. I tried them for a month and just couldn’t do it. Every meal tasted horrible.
Most garbanzos (chickpeas) are contaminated with glyphosate. Feel free to look that up if you care about consuming carcinogens. If not, carry on, and enjoy.
Problem with splendid spoon is they mess up your order literally every week. It’s sad because their food is so good and healthy but they royally messed up every week
@@TheVeganGym great video btw. My wife is vegan and I am a former vegan and I’m thinking about going back to the diet. We are looking for good options other than splendid spoon and this was very helpful!
