Crazy and totally "outta sight" ! the singing is insane, ya'll ! those were the days and I truly enjoyed the music. groups like this will never pass this way again ❤ Peace !
Their arm syncopation is totally insane esp considering the brother in the back is doing different things at certain points & the 2 in the front cant see him!! The really give The Tempts a run for their money!!
@Paul Errante... those brothers are beyond "on point." Coming from a former dancer, their routine is flawless. Whoever did the choreography was very creative. 💯
@@TB-jc3ls True that. When you didn't have semi-clad ladies, jewels, cars, and dogs as props, you had to use what the Lord gave ya. Auntie seamstress was also kept busy with these creative cats.
They would have done that to anybody. I sang with the group myself. Back back doing that time from Cleveland I was with a group called the Imperial wonders. And we recognize them back even back in the 60s. In the late 60s. I remember them very well are any of the brothers still alive? I know that Lee singer passed away. I remember that, but is there any of the brothers still alive?
This is one of my favorite songs from back in the day. When I was in high school, I had the pleasure of seeing them perform at the Uptown theater in North Philly. Had to be around 1967. They stole the show!
I Love this song. It is fire. The harmony is top shelf. The vocals are on point. And the music is classic. Back in the day. We more of this right now. I got justice. ❤❤❤❤❤❤ Bren From the D...
I saw them at the Apollo Theater in 1969. Davis Ruffin headlined the show. The Unifics stole the whole show. Wonderful memories! Thanks for this classic post!
Al Johnson was a gifted man, he made many contributions to the music industry, a multi-talented brother. Singer, songwriter, producer he did it all, and he will be missed. Rest in peace my friend!
These Brothers this song, mercy me. Where did the good times and the good music go? Well, I have my memories. They were awesome entertainers, never disappointed!
This is what you call music!!! I love my oldies and I have a huge library of them. Everytime that I am invited to a cookout I am always asked to bring my music with me. Love it love it💙💙💙💙💙💜💜💜💜💜💜💜.
I love this cut simply because it addresses genuine hurt from the brothers. And like the Unifics say in the song I got justice. There are a trillion guy done me wrong songs but this is genius!
This is the best that music should offer.....great melody, harmonies, instrumentation, lyrics and the visual presentation is smooth and exciting at the same time. Rest in Peace, Al Johnson! Another member has been added to the heavenly choir!
Kathleenjones742 Black men "SINGING!" WOW!!! You just don't see black men singing anyomore(or playing a musical instrument)outside of religious music??? It's been sadly, almost completely replaced by rap.😔 SMH
I remember seeing the Unifics perform with white suits and white gloves at the Howard Theatre in DC as a teen, I loved these guys they were totally put together. They were definitely one of my favorites back then along with the Mad Lads, Five Stairsteps, and the Delfonics.
I was very young when my sister R.I.P. would play this record, I couldn't understand it much I liked the song back then but now I really like it in 2020 this sing is fabulous!!!!
Oh my GOD if only we could turn back the hands of time! I sure MISS the music from back in the day because this was music! Now its just NOISE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (the music of today)...
Love these guys! Choreography was just as important at the harmony.back then. These guys were from DC or at least one one, Michele. A man's feelings...uh ummm cannot be ignored when you can put it like this!
At the tender age of 12 I saw these talented blackmen back in 1967 at the Apollo along with Stevie Wonder who was 17 at the time and another R&B 60's group, The Ballads, remember them? I can still see them performing all the lights were out and all you could see was white gloves. Those days are long gone.....
I REMEMBER THE BALLADS I HAVE A FEW OF THEIR 45's ON VENTURE RECORDS AND WHAT A LOT OF PEOPLE PROBABLY DON'T KNOW IS THAT THEY ARE THE SINGING GROUP IN THE MACK WHEN GOLDIE IS IN THE CLUB SINGING THE SLOW TUNE.
The best video of this song was the one done on the "Upbeat Show" in Cleveland, Ohio where one of the fine young lady dancers portrays the guilty party vamping and reacting to the "charges" throughout the song. When the verdict is read she responds with complete contempt and disdain for the "Court Of Love"! Classic! You may be able to find that video on the Upbeat Show downloads.
YES YES YES THE UNIFICS, i USE TO SEE THIS GROUP AT THE HOWARD THEATER IN WASHINGTON DC BACK IN THE LATE 60'S, THIS GROUP WAS AWESOME,,,,,,,,,,,, AND DRESSED TO KILL,
Aaron, Congratulations to you! What gets me is how they had "STEPS" back in those days.... Those steps were amazing! Groups today can't do it..... Nevertheless, I remember this song when I was in junior high school..... I tuned in to hear it! I heard the guy who make the announcement on this record passed away last year...... December 8th, 2014
Congrats cuz them dudes I always thought we’re awesome Love that song and a lot of their others Beginning of my end back in the day almost had me crying (lying I was)
The Unifics were our "big brother" group back in the days when I chased the musical stage. We modeled our group after their style...even did their steps. At the club "Cheetah" in NY we did a show with the Unifics, and copied a cover song they did by Curtis Mayfield called "Choice of Colors". After we finished our set, Al (who watched our show from the audience and back stage) was the first to come over to our dressing room to say 'well done'. The brother had CLASS. On that same bill were The Honeycombs, The 5 Stairsteps, Kool and the Gang, The Persuasions, and to close the show on the last night, none other than Mr Dynamite himself...James Brown!!!...who threw our clothes and instruments out of our dressing room as he commandeered it. LOL!!! MAN...this vid brings back SWEET memories of the days when yo ass had to KNOW how to sing and dance at that mike. Thanks for posting. And Al (the lead singer) wasn't "blind". He had a type of astigmatism.
Sunnu Valentine you have a great lineup at he cheers in Manhattan. bit too bad you did had an five brother act who did thier thang at the ed Sullivan show...😄 let me shut up.LOL!!!!!!!!!! sunny that's a real heavy name. thanks for the memories I brought the whole album, after years of decaying, I brought the CD rerelease of the album around2001. never sounded so guuuuuuud that sunnu.
They used to play the Apollo you remember skip Sonny and the pace Brothers if you know the unific she don't skip sunny and the pace Brothers Holla At Me
Oh yeah, I can relate....I had the pleasure of seeing some of my favorite groups at the Apollo as a teen. In fact, I have a treasured memory of being called on stage by the Dramatics so they could sing to a female. I was a nervous wreck walking up there but it was exciting. Murrey the K was MCing. Great times!
I was Blessed and Honored to finally meet one of the group members this past week...he sung at my uncle's retirement party...I briefly spoke to him and said my father always mentioned him as a neighborhood friend...and some are still performing!
You ant give us this song ugly lady so how are you sharing it with us utwo gave it to us not you I bet anything anything your darkskin fat and old and ugly looking for attention but who cares people want to hear the music that's all
Who cares if it's your uncle or not who the hell cares bout you we just want to hear the music nobody cares what you say for real your looking for attention
So awesome! I just watched this because I really didn't remember this song but found it to be amazing and timeless. What vocals both lead and background and the choreography, exquisite! This is when groups were true talents and didn't mind putting in the hard work it took to give the audience and their fans what they paid for and came to see, a REAL show for their money. There should be a class in all colleges that teach music, to use videos and music like this as part of their curriculum.
there is no group back then or today that can match this group . even now i watch it and say wow they were ahead of there time . soulful tight melodic and good story telling
Wow--our African American male groups certainly got a "good workout" with the creative steps in their dance routine---you had to be in excellent shape to perform with these dance steps.
this video is the world to me because. this the first time I've seen my uncle Harold Worthington perform and I hope the rest of the group is doing fine
Al Johnson's passing was a big deal in the Baltimore-Washington area. This is a great clip. I love watch the groups from this era perform! They stepped AND they sounded good!
