Most of these "leaders" are living more like the Romans who persecuted Jesus than Jesus himself. Heck, Vatican was a part of Italy. In my country, it is very rare to see a priest who will perform services for free. Apparently, "blessing" has a price tag.

I discovered the importance of Jesus & Mary in Islam through a Mosque I passed by in Chinatown while I was touring Singapore... In their gate, a mural depicted their reverence in Mary with high regard how they are also important to Muslims in the teachings of the Quran... this made me feel pleased proud and appreciative of our brother Muslims... as mentioned here though Jesus & Mary are not worshipped the same way as us Christians but their importance in teachings of the Quran cannot be ignored...

Interesting how this came up in my feed after I was watching Jesus Christ Superstar today. Something I noticed from that movie was the almost romantic relationship he had with Mary Magdeline in the movie, but it didn't sound that way in the Bible.

Jesus was a champion for women but if the Jewish Law is studied in the context of the time it gives women more rights and protection than any other at that time. People like to point out that woman could be stoned for committing adultery but men could as well. Many know the story of the woman who had been caught in the act of adultery being brought to Jesus to see if she should be stoned and he said the one who hasn’t sinned should be the first to throw the stone. What most people don’t know is that those bringing her to him were not following the Law because the man should have been brought with her.

Forsake all, sell all and give to the poor to become a Christian and work for God not money, preach the gospel to all. Lk12-14, Mt6-7

Something I learned in Catholic school, and through plain science...Jesus is usually portrayed as having nails through his hands and feet. The reality I heard, is to be crucified through under the wrist, between the two forearm bones to hold a person there so they are assured to remain there. The feet were nailed, but also with a support under the feet so they would not fall off the cross or T.

Hi Grunge. I'd suggest Jesus' "turn the other cheek" has a cultural connection with Rome, because face-slaps were the traditional way house-slaves were disciplined. Notice that the only verbal testimony consistent across all four Gospels is Pontius Pilate's words "I find no fault with this man", and "what evil has he done"? This presents Pilate as spiritually aware and fair minded, implying how wonderfully enlightened Roman justice is. It's difficult to avoid interpreting this as anything but the Gospels serving Rome, especially as none of Jesus' words get full "four Gospel" representation. Jesus' teachings did not offend Rome, "render unto Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and to God the things that are God's" puts Caesar right up there beside God's throne. "Things" includes more than taxes. To say that he taught "peaceful resistance" is a tall claim. How can overturning tables, attacking the money changers, and even whipping the sacrificial animals into a stampede for the exits be called "peaceful resistance?" And then there's the mouthfuls of derogation he had for the Jews and leaders, "vipers, hypocrites, fools, whitewashed sepulchres, etc". Be honest, he was also an "inciter of riots", so give us the full truth please, not just the Church's cherry-picked version. Grunge is an excellent name, stick to it. Cheers, P.R.

Too bad they don't address the fact that between birth and the age of thirty, there is no record of Jesus' life and whereabouts. My favorite theory is that he migrated to what is now Kashmir in India and there learned the elements of Buddhism that he would teach on his return to Bethlehem. There were trade routes that would have taken him there and back. No one discusses where his ideas came from and the migration theory is I think the most plausible. It also may explain the the Magi from the East who appeared at his birth, foreshadowing his migration there.

My favourite gospel has to be JOHN but the gospel of LUKE is unique in the fact that he would have written it with his own hand , even though he never himself witnessed Jesus, out of Matthew , Mark , Luke and John, he would have been the only one who spoke Greek and since he was an educated doctor he would have been the only one out the 4 who could read or write, the other 3 would have been dictated to a scribe

Luke was instrumental in continuing Jesus' teachings concerning women, foreigners, and outcasts. A quick glance at Luke's rendition of Jesus' lineage shows several women, at least one foreigner (Ruth), and a prostitute (Rahab). That's only a hint at the remainder of the Gospel of Luke.

Why did Grunge use a European depiction only? The European depiction has been noted amongst scholars as likely very inaccurate. This contradicts Grunges desire for informative accuracy.

There is no contemporaneous extra-biblical evidence for the existence of Yeshua Ben Yosef. It can therefore not be stated with certainty that he was an historical character..There are no eyewitness accounts in the bible. Biblical accounts are based on the. Pauline epistles. Paul only had,"visions," of Jesus. The other accounts are strictly hearsay.
