Boonie hats are a must have for sunny outdoor activities. Their light, portable, and protect your head, face, and ears from the sun. You can roll them up and put them anywhere, and scrunch up smaller than a baseball hat.
They come in all colors and camouflages and be found for cheap (~$20). The commercial ones vs. military surplus hats are essentially the same price. In some cases, made by the same manufacturer. But if you want the real deal, watch this video. I'll give you simple tips on how to find military issued hats.
