I love that scene. Particularly because, in the past, Elena has asked both Stefan and Damon to resist compulsion because they loved her. Silas mind control is basically the same thing, and here she is, practicing what she preaches.

Yeah. Season 5 (because of the travelers) or season 7 were my least favorite seasons.

Yeah. Elena, empathy, compassion, kindness...those words don't go together in the same sentence.

The difference is that Damon felt bad about it and he worked to become a better person.

@@DivaQuinzel Katherine also helped. She saved Jeremys life. Also for her whole life she had to run. Going against ancients like Klaus and Silas she wasn't dumb enough to fight. She knew she would lose.

Katherine did help now, that is true, but she never felt bad about killing Jeremy. Katherine is very smart, she'll do anything to survive and I have no hate for her, I just meant to explain a part of why people have an easier time moving past Damons bad deeds while not as much with Katherine. SPOILER: . . . . . I said that he worked on becoming a better person, I didn't say he became a saint, Damon has some serious "relapses" especially in S5, Damon has an extremely bad habit of acting before thinking. That doesn't change the fact that he's shown guilt and remorse over his actions and that he's tried to be better.

except damon just did it because he was emotional and later felt bad katherine never felt bad and never will feel bad for killing jeremy, he was just a means to an end plus, nobody 'missed' jeremy because he came right back w/ damon he was gone the whole season (for a long time) and they had to think about the body/thought it would be permanent etc. which sticks with you in comparison to twisting his neck once and coming back an hour later it's about the emotional trauma you caused which sticks with you damon since then has made amends with jeremy and has bonded and tried to help him yes, katherine saved his life once but she has done so much more to the main characters in the span of the show katherine literally tried to kill elena not that long ago and yes, damon has done some stuff too because he's a vampire who wasn't in touch with his humanity for a long time but he's trying to get in touch with his humanity now and has become a better person while katherine is much more agreeable as a human she still doesn't make the effort to try to change and better herself she's only being agreeable because she can't fight back period and yes, damon still sometimes 'snaps' because he is still adjusting to his newly found humanity that he finds hard to control (the emotions) but he actually at the end of the day feels bad about it once he regains his sanity again, katherine has NO remorse ever which makes it very hard to root for her unless you like antagonists (which i do so i have no problem but a lot of people don't) (and to be clear, i'm not saying damon's humanity switch was off i'm just saying he leans into the vampirsm and suppresses the humanity whilst stefan leans into the humanity and suppresses the vampirsm so when they BOTH try to be more balanced they lash out. however, they both need to try to be more balanced. stefan needs to embrace his vampirsm more and damon needs to embrace his humanity more. they are both doing that but it doesn't mean there won't be hiccups (that are really bad but they are vampires) along the way. even if they sometimes revert they still are on a better path at the end of the day.) again, not saying damon is a saint but this is why people like damon and not katherine plus, damon is one of the main 3 so he gets way more fleshed out as a character in general i do like katherine but her being so upset and jealous of elena for things she could have easily achieved if she just tried to be a better person ~is~ a bit annoying too katherine now has literally no excuse as human

@@nightfrost1891 I see your point, but everyone just see the bad things Katherine done. They don't see what she went through and its not fair. She spent most of her life running of course she's like this. Everyone trying to kill her. She is doing what she has to do to survive. It's been like that since her baby which was taken from her. Damon has it also, but compared to Katherine yeah NO. He killed multiple people just because he's mad breaks Jeremy necks almost 5 times and tries to kill his niece twice? Kath watched her daughter died and she just met her. Katherine had it bad she became who she is because of her past she wasn't born like that.
