"A game that's not for everyone isn't a game that should be made in my opinion." Is the single worst idea you can possibly have when talking about creative works. Not only is it impossible, it's also a bulletproof way to make a trash product.
It's sad to think a full-grown adult hasn't realized it's impossible to please everyone. Specialized products are actually increasingly more valuable imo as the games market continues to get flooded with generic trash.
As far as i see it, we will talk about it for Years to come, like Dark Souls 1, the amount of Money it made, the personal Story we had there and the Influenz it had for Gaming as a whole and the other Games who tyred to Copy it and succeeded or failed.
He also said right when 2023 began, it would be forgotten. AAA Games like Hogwarts Legacy have to make whole trailers to get every fan's attention, and after like 4 months of it being published, it would take a long time to get most of its now no-longer-interested fan's attention. Elden Ring? Some random Twitter post on a Tuesday after a year and a half of the game's release garners 40.3 million views and astronomical heights of excitement, hundreds of videos posted within a few weeks talking about possible gameplay, entire lore, story, and there was simply a single sentence and a picture that actually hinted relatively anything to Elden Ring.
Eh game of the year has been a joke before with some of the winners so I wouldn't use that really as anything of a signifier. The better one would be looking at the concurrent playerbase online. It's still high as shit and this dudes opinion was shit I'm not defending him at all. Just pointing out "GOTY" really doesn't mean anything when a game in BETA(PUBG before it released) was nominated.
As someone who used to work retail, can confirm that people regularly abuse the return policy to "rent" high-ticket products for a weekend or two and then give it back. The only reason they have to give is that they didn't like it. Most of the time it's for parties and sports events. Feels especially bad for commissioned sales jobs.
I work in retail and you will see a high influx of people buy branded items for the hockey game starting a few days before, even to the night of. And then like clockwork, you get returns of jerseys, some with their tag taken off..

“A game that’s not made for everyone shouldn’t be a game that’s made” From the man who says liking this game is akin to incest, hates gays, and made it a personal issue.
its literally impossible to make a game everyone likes because of the sheer amount of people on earth its so ironic that he said that about elden ring, where hes clearly an outlier and almost everyone who has played it, liked it

"a game that isn't made for everyone shouldn't be made" Absolutely not true. I'm a game design student. The first thing we learn is target audience. We cater our games to specific audiences. You're essentially saying that no game should be made. Everyone includes blind people, deaf people, paralyzed people etc.. I'd like to see you figure out how to make a soulslike for someone who can't control their body from the neck down.

This went from “imagine making an Elden Ring review so bad you got banned from RU-vid” to “imagine making an Elden Ring review so bad you get arrested”. What level of insanity do you have to find/doxx the MOTHER of the person criticizing you over a VIDEO GAME? I’d say QTV needs a reality check but he hasn’t been in reality for a while
Ahem this joke isn’t for everyone some people don’t have white mask to call them maidenless your comment has low graphics and is non-inclusive please do not read this comment 0/10
No art form should ever EVER be made "for everyone". Art needs some sort of focus and unfortunately there will always be people who don't care/don't like what your focus is, but that doesn't make the art TRASH
Agreed. Art is made to be an expression of emotion and to tell a story; to take something abstract and to make it concrete. It's entirely subjective and inherently can't be "for everyone". Ironically, proof of this is that art specifically made to be for everyone is typically hated by the masses for exactly that reason.
I've tried Demon's Souls, I've tried Dark Souls, I've tried Bloodborne, and I've tried Elden Ring. Each one I've played for a good two to three hours before getting absolutely frustrated with the game, and dropping them altogether. I know it's a matter of practicing and trying over and over, but I hate smashing my head against what feels like a concrete wall over and over. I know I'm not good at these games, and I frankly don't have the skillset or patience to be good at them. But when it comes to the argument of making games easier for the sake of accessibility? I completely disagree with that. Dark Souls as a franchise, as well as other work of From Software, wouldn't be on these pedestals that they sit on if they weren't bone crushingly hard. The core idea of the games are smashing your way through the most brutal of obstacles to find success and reward of your effort. I'm not good at these games, and I'd like to be, but I will be utterly disappointed if From Software were to ever introduce an easy mode, or a difficulty slider. Stay soul shattering!
Elden Ring is my very first Souls game that I absolutely love, it brings me back to how I felt when first played Elder Scrolls and Dragon's Dogma, once I got the feel for the controls, mechanics and combat, I absolutely fell in love with this Game.
To add on to your point of smashing your way through the obstacles in those games, I will say once you get some of the mechanics down and "Git Gud", it is one of the most satisfying feelings you can ever get. Like the feeling I had beating bosses that I died to quite a few times, especially after learning and internalizing the game, it's almost indescribable. Very few games give me that same feeling of accomplishment, and 95% of them are FromSoft games.
What absolutely blows my mind is the fact that if you go back in Quantum TV's video history, or even just google his channel name, you'll see he does this kind of stuff all the time. This is seemingly just the first time he's been bit back for it.
Game requirements: Must be made for literally everyone, no dying, the game should not be possible to lose, everything has to be linear with no room for exploration to get lost in, 90% of the budget needs to go into graphics, the game should only have 3 mechanics maximum, the lead writer cannot support any causes whatsoever, and the music has to sound ethnically ambiguous.
I can't believe The Act Man is getting punished by having his channel demonetized instead of Quantum. The Act Man showed a significant flaw with how RU-vid governs their community guidelines so they try to shut him up for it. I was already surprised quantum was found innocent, but this is inconceivable (a word I hardly use).
Felt like I had to come back to this one and say thanks for helping out with Act Mans follow up video. This dude could definitely use the support, and its good to see other creators stepping up to let RU-vid know this is not okay. Keep up the great work man.
We just need more representation of black ppl in videogames and media in general. They were going through a lot and thats why we as people of light need to help them up.
Quantum retaliating against The Act Man by doxxing and bringing another man’s mother in between two people’s beef is the most cowardly action I’ve seen on the internet in a looong time. And the fact that he abuses copyright strikes too? this dude needs legitimate help.
"Nobody will even talk about this game." Dude really just ignored the fact that pretty much every soulsborne game before Elden Ring are quite popular and still discussed, even more so now that there's so much fresh blood in the community.
The fact that Quantum is still trying hard to salvage whatever he has left of his "career" is crazy and hilarious. That's what happens when you're maidenless AF. lol
What concerns me is he actually does have a family, I think he has two kids and a wife, and he's very proud of that fact. I'm concerned because I wonder how he has and will treat them given what we know, and there's also the fact his online career that he uses to support his family is destroyed. They (as far as I know) don't deserve this.
@@Don-ds3dy He made his own poor choices at the end of the day. I just hope he doesn't go psycho on them. The guy clearly has some mental issues and is far removed from reality.
I've never played a souls game. My boyfriend had this one and I saw him wrecking everything with it. So I tried it. Learned how to speak to NPCs, block, roll, jump, and attack in under the hour. This guy just outright doesn't know how to read lmao
I’m a die hard fan of Zero Dawn, and forbidden west actually exceeded my expectations. I love the machines, especially the amount, we got and the character arcs, like Aloy realizing that she doesn’t have to do everything her self. Many great things to say about that game and he’s saying it’s bad because he thinks it had too many black people? What a joke
Forbidden West: *had like 10% black characters* Quantum: "that's just waaaaay too many black people, we all know they only make up 2% of the US. Sheesh, it's so woke" My eyes almost rolled into my head when he said that about "too many black peoplr'
Only thing I really didn’t like was that choosing to kill or spare Regalla has no real affect on anything other than what items you get for the mission
Well, to be fair his issue wasn’t the presence of black people but the fact that there were apparently either more, or a lot more time spent on them than in the previous game, and to be fair if that is true (which I do not know if it is, based on his ER review I ehm… Would tend to suspect it’s not), it’s not a ludicrous idea to imagine that it caused by some virtue signaling progressive, it’s not like it doesn’t happen in the industry that politics of the day (especially leftist) influence stuff like messages or demographics shown etc, which can be annoying purely because of the political slant that causes those decisions, not because the decision is bad in and of itself. But again, that’s being very generous, I have no clue whether or not his supposed observation is even correct.
"Every dark souls fan who is watching this review had the die a million and one times to learn how to play the game" Indeed. People have to fail and learn from their mistakes in order to get better at something. Wonderful observation.
Although I agree with the point that he (like me) sees these games as not worth the time and frustration needed to get enjoyment out of them, there are far better and more constructive ways to word that argument to appeal to the people that _do_ than just "You're a peepee poopoo head if you like this game". Which I guess is the whole point of the video. This dude has never had to articulate an argument in his entire life, and it shows.
From the few Souls games I’ve played the biggest accessibility feature that DS and Bloodborne needed was a pause feature. You don’t have to be able to do anything during a pause, managing inventory under threat is a part of the challenge, but a pause feature is a bare minimum for any non turn based game. That’s the main thing I noticed for the Soulsborne series, but I also only use subtitles as accessibility options. And sometimes colorblind modes in PvP shooters.
The Act Man is a creator that I've enjoyed since his Cod World War 2 video back in I think 2016. He's just a guy who, like me, just likes to talk about things he's passionate about. He's already a big creator, but it sucks that it took this whole drama to allow him to get more exposure that I feel he deserves.
"I accidentally attack him" Pretty sure you don't get a hostile npc until you attack them a few times. In other words, if you accidentally attack someone, most of the time fromsoft understands you might accidentally press a button when you set the controller down.
Dunno about ER...but not always....Had a horrible experience in my first DS1 run where after the Anor Londo Archers an invisible invader attacked me, accidentally hit Solaire (really should have just ran out of the room, but hindsight 20/20) and was killed. After painstakingly beating the archers a 2nd time I got to the bonfire and Solaire aggros me, had to let him kill me and go beg forgiveness, then beat the archers a 3rd time!!! **groan** anyway, long story short : while rare, I've seen cases where you only have to hit an NPC once to get hostile. .....though from what I understand, this wasn't his case
@@demon1103 That's just in DS1 where NPCs aggro if you deal 10% of their HP. DS2 changed it so you have to hit them 3 times before they aggro and it's been like that since then.
Quantum is like a child, it takes absolutely nothing to entertain them but if something has any depth or complexity, their brain shuts down and they hate it.
Im not an elden ring type of person, but the fact that this man reviewed the game before going through 0.01% of it and having such harsh opinions on it makes me wonder, how in the fuck did he make "trustworthy" reviews of products that cost waaaaaaaaaay more than 60$

My experience with all the souls games and elden ring has always been this. 'Start game...die a LOT...Hate the game...push on...learn...end up loving the game and playing them for hundreds of hours.'
Its really nice how the internet has shifted towards being very intolerant of bullies and I hope people who wanna be dumb learn from the humiliation of Quantum
I love how Quantum puts so much emphasis on how Elden Ring will be completely forgotten by the next console generation. - most anticipated game 2 years in a row - 12 million copies sold in 3 weeks - 10/10's across the board - *at least* a GOTY nominee guaranteed
just a little correction 12millions in 17 days, for example cyberpunk 77 sold 13.6 in 21 days so on average Elden R sold 700K while Cyber punk is 660k copies per day.

@@sheshin Personally I hope Elden Ring does not win GotY. I'm a FromSoft super fanboy, but I think Elden Ring is the most disappointing game they've made since they started the Soulsborne series. The main story stuff is fantastic, but all the open world shit is copy+pasted tilesets with the same enemies and the same bosses over and over again (prior to this game, Dark Souls 1 with its re-used Asylum Demon was the worst offender for this) and the combat is just Dark Souls 3 again. I find it to be really mediocre, a complete disappointment after the breath of fresh air that was Sekiro. I don't want it to win GotY because it'll encourage FromSoft to just make more Dark Souls instead of trying new things again.
Lawsuit war alone isn't the most crazy shit imo, bringing someone mother over a beef between 2 people is. The dude reminds me of people that would play competitive shooters, and accuse everyone that killed them of cheating. I ran into a bunch of idiots like that back when I was big into Halo and Destiny. People like that always complain about a game being too hard, because they never payed attention to the tutorial, or didn't bother learning the games mechanics, then demand the game be made easier. Some people just shouldn't play skill based games. They often ruin things for everyone that found enjoyment from said games.

I also attacked the NPC that he did. After getting my ass handed to me, I ran tf away and was like, “okay so maybe I’m bad at this game” and that motivated me to improve. He gets to a minor obstacle, gets briefly stuck, and gives up. Terrible mental
Listen, sometimes that first obstacle is just the first sign that you don't give a fuck about something. I beat the first level of cup head and just never played it because I simply didn't care to do anything else. But I'm not gonna go around pretending like I know if it's really a good game or not. I'm not gonna review it, and pretend everyone else is an idiot because I don't personally give a shit.
I didn't even acidentally attack him. He called me maidenless so I thought it would be funny to get revenge and kill him. Took me a whole hour to learn how to beat him, and god did it feel good when I did. It was even worse because I was going astrologist so I had to somehow kill him with pebble before I ran out of mana, and the man dodge rolled so much. I eventually figured out you can glitch him out by luring him into the tutorial buildings door, because he cant go through. Eventually he de aggros and wont dodge for the next like 5 seconds, so you can just rinse and repeat until he dies.
About that return/review thing, yes it is something that a lot of people do. In the audio community, one of the big practices is if there's a product you want to try but can't get to a audio store to demo irl, you'll buy the product, try it out, then return it before the policy is up.
Hopefully Charlie's exposure gets this QuantumTV guy banned. I almost never believe ppl should be banned or deplatformed but when you start threatening violence and harassing family members of your enemies over the phone, that's where I draw the line.

Is he aware that Miles Morales’s dad was a black cop? Even approaching any semblance of a radically anti-cop standpoint from Miles’s perspective is inherently watered down because of his origin story. His version of uncle Ben was a black law enforcement officer that told him to always do the right thing, and he honors his father’s legacy by fighting crime. Whatever your standpoint is Miles would be at worst the least biased BLM protester. Nobody should like a racist cop, even if their dad was a cop, go figure. I hear you but miles Morales ps45 does have a huge blm sign. it is a very small part from what I've seen even still, with games being adjusted because of police it seems a blatant choice should be avoided
It's always bothers me that when it comes to FromSoft games, the "accessibility" discussion is always framed in a way that revolves around the mechanics / difficulty, and not things like color schemes, UI scaling, controls, etc. Things that can ACTUALLY make the game unplayable for certain people. If you're stuck on a boss because you're not that skilled, or maybe you have mobility issues that make the bosses too difficult, you can get people to help you and make it past those sections, if you don't know what to do next you can ask the community, but if you cannot physically see what's happening you're just not able to play the game. Accessibility is actually really important, but the accessibility for a FromSoft game should not revolve around how it's too hard, but around how it physically limits people ability to enjoy it - and I mean physically limits people who WANT to enjoy the game, and not turn it into a completely different game because they just don't like it.
I appreciate the sentiment but isn't that true of most games? Accessibility for handicapped folks is a problem across the board. People with decent means and ingenuity can mod, hack, and work around most anything but it takes effort. So...handicapped people with enough means and determination to play a game *can* probably just find a way--maybe even cheat their way through. If FromSoft kneecapped their games just so differently-abled folks wouldn't have to go through that effort, then the people that buy FromSoft games for the challenge would be left wanting. Should handicapped folks be left in the dust just to cater to challenge-seekers? No, there ought to be at least some games built for them to enjoy and hardware to make things easier. Maybe even easy to install mod-packs to tone down enemy AI, adjust colors, etc. But should all of this be so accessible to average folks that they'll just default to those and mow through the game? (Aren't there enough OP weapons and builds as is?! After spending enough earnest time with Elden Ring, you can see how much was done to make it potentially easier.) Developers have a right to decide what game they make for which audience, players have a right to decide how much effort they want to put in to change how easy or difficult a game is, and people that just want to sit in front of a console and let it pump them with dopamine for every button they push...well, they get what they paid for. But if somebody made good games with difficulty curves and accommodations for even the most debilitating handicaps, they're a saint; definitely a niche that needs filled.
@@freddytheshadowninja But just like you said, abled people can make the game super easy by modding the game anyway. I don't think games being more or less accessible is going to stop cheaters from cheating. The main difference is that if they're less accessible, disabled people have to go through a lot more hoops to enjoy the same experience. At least that's how I see it.
This was indeed the start to the past 6 months of absolute insane twist and turns in the epic twitch anime arc. Who would of thought it would start with the Act man

It's extra pathetic that his videos are all flagged as Fundraiser

The fact that he thinks Forbidden West is pushing a BLM agenda is insane, there's only three (major) black characters--Varl, Zo, and Sylens--and after the tutorial none of them get any more screen time than any other characters. In fact Sylens gets an abnormally low amount of screen time compared to both the others and his role in the previous game so I have no idea what he's on about
