Hi Tamara , hi all ! Great video, once again. I reached the same manual settings as yours with this OA3 ( That’s also what I use on my OA1 and Pocket2) ; Rocksteady AND low shutter speed is not working if you’re walking, I would say it’s even better not using RS. Rocksteady needs high shutter speed, so I cheat a bit by increasing to 200 or 300 when I film in 25fps or 50fps (any multiple of 25/50 to avoid light flickering); this setting helps the RS when walking gently; you don’t get the nice smooth motion blur, but you can get some. The best is to test step by step ( shutter by shutter) . When in rush to film, and to be sure to have a steady image but trying to have some motion blur, I let the shutter Auto but will lower the ISO as much as possible in a reasonable range ( max 800 or 1600), this way the shutter will have to drop also to compensate. People must understand that this camera in auto will ALWAYS give priority to high speed shutter and will push the ISO up to the roof to keep this high shutter (it’s an action cam so it’s made to give stable image and no motion blur) . Forcing the ISO down will undirectly pull the shutter down. You may not have the best motion blur this way, but you will be closer to the 180°rule and may avoid seing too clearly any insect flying through your footage !!!

Luv this camera, I just don’t like the studders when I’m walking or moving. I use it for vlogging but I still get great content. But it does make me miss the pocket series as I don’t really like using gimbals. The pocket is more…inconspicuous in that area lol but yeah great vid.!

Outstanding video as always, however, in the application that you’re using the action three here, I feel that going to a gimbal and manual settings, and all the other things you’re doing here you would be better served with a small APS camera versus an action camera. I think the action camera shines on automatic settings in HDR mode. If you’re going to put in all the effort to go through manual settings and adding a gimbal, etc., I feel like the action cameras is not the camera you (and when I say you, I mean the end user, not you specifically) should be using. I understand that this is just a practical application use case for the camera that you’re showcasing here and not necessarily what you would use, you’re just showing that it can do it in this way as well.

Yeah, I get what you're saying and I'd half agree, but if someone is getting an action camera because it's all they can afford and they want an 'all rounder' it's just an option for them so they know that they can push the boundaries of the action camera to get better looking footage when vlogging if that's something they want to experiment with. It's definitely easier to use the action camera in auto, and a lot of the times I myself do that when I'm trying to be quick and get certain shots, but if for example I'm going out with my kids, and I don't want to take a mirrorless camera because I want something super small, I'd go for an action camera and I tend to flip it into manual and put it on the gimbal because I know I can get better-looking footage doing that, and the small form factor outweighs the convenience of a small mirrorless camera in that instance, for me anyway. But I hear you.

Regarding a gimbal, I have the Osmo Mobile 3 and have attempted to use it with my Action 3 but the camera appears to be too heavy for the gimbal, even without the action 3 cage. Also the action is too small for the holder. Any Idea how I can get around this?

So I was to be between this camera and the dji pocket 2. Because Amazon had a deal going on where I could pay I forget how much it is five monthly payments so it’s literally under $100 for five monthly payments for both of them but the action camera was just a few dollars cheaper and I don’t know which one I want but I’m kind of leaning towards the action camera because I originally wanted a GoPro but I’ve never seen those on Amazon, or you could do the monthly payments for it. And since his camera is much newer than the pocket to it came out this year I’m still surprise there are monthly payments for it like it’s a cheaper option. If you can’t pay it full price at once, but the videos I’d be doing I’d be posting them on Instagram or TikTok so I’m not necessarily sure this would be the camera for me. No, I do Instagram reels and TikTok short videos. I don’t know if this would be the camera I’ve never heard someone talk about using it for that where the pocket two I’ve heard many people use it for that so I’m not really sure.

About the fact that I can do the monthly payments on Amazon five monthly payment under 100 bucks and the fact that it’s more affordable that way for me cause I can’t pay the full price and it’s the newest one that came out this year which is funny because the Action camera they made before the action three is still at full price. You can’t get that at a cheaper price yet. I also do RU-vid shorts not just Instagram reels and TikTok and I recently got an iPhone 13 and I’ve been having the issue of getting my RU-vid shorts to be HD quality they keep going to be SD quality so I thought maybe the action camera would help so that the quality of the video wouldn’t be SD quality

No, stabilisation won’t work with slower shutter speeds 1/50 is too low so you’d need a gimbal.

Your hand was almost not blurry, but with the ND filter you got a lot of motion blur. I fail to see how this looks "more natural". I don't understand why you would want to artificially add motion blur…
