The War on Drugs || 885 Live @ The Village Studios || FULL SHOW Recorded and Mixed at by Ed Cherney at The Village, West Los Angeles Assistants: Matt Dyson, Billy Centenaro Front of house: Karl Wingate
This baby boomer Nana grew up on the Stones, Jackson Browne, Neil Young, Springsteen, Bob Dylan, Motown, the Beatles, Pink Floyd…you get the point. I thought, this generation would never have music with the staying power that we had. BUT, one night about 6 months ago, I turned on Austin City Limits on PBS and there was this group called The War on Drugs playing. I was hooked! Not a day goes by without listening to my playlist of their music. Sometimes I can’t understand the lyrics, but that’s ok, because the instruments have lyrics of their own. And I’m going to see them in concert next month!!!! Were it not for PBS, I wouldn’t have this amazing music in my life.
the performance is so perfect. Every little detail heard on their records can be heard in their live performances. I saw them live in London's O2 rather than in my hometown Dublin Ireland where the gig was outdoor. I will never forget it. I have played their songs so often that I know every little nuance. They are simply amazing musicians, and Charlie's drumming is absolutely mesmeric. My world is a better place for their music. Brilliant.
Absolute killer band. Drummer is awesome and really holds and binds everything together brilliantly. Intense but restrained when needs to be. What a band. What a band. x
Adam is from my home town Philadelphia. I think I met Adam long ago. He is humble and beautiful. Please don't change your down to earth ways. Holly wood KILLS
it's absolutely insane how this band sounds. saw them at the O2 in Dublin recently. unbelievable. I could almost headbang while crying at the same time. Weird. No other band makes me feel what their music do.
Well I’m a little late to get into them but damn the more I listen to them the more I love them!! I’m 61 and they remind me of a lot of the music i listened to in the 70’s with a new twist I look forward to finding out more about them.
Discovered this band when The Barr Brothers cancelled their gig I was going to, to support these guys, so checked them out. Couldn't believe what I was hearing, OMG, they are brilliant !!!! The gig was great !!!! So addicted !!!
I was there! What an incredible experience! Thanks, KCSN & Sky Daniels, for the opportunity to see this fantastic band, up close & personal! Unforgettable!
Had the pleasure of watching these guys play The O2 in London last night. Wow what a band live, absolultey brilliant, pure talent and passion for what they do.
There is so many things happening in all the songs of The War On Drugs, THERE’S FUCKING SIX PEOPLE PLAYING ALL AT THE SAME TIME I JUST LOVE THEM SO MUCH
@@tbonepep Relatable struggle from everyday anxiety and relationship fails. It's been an awakening for me to discover these guys. Been searching for music that defines a lot of things I've dealt with in my life.
From the inception of this band they never disappoint with their music they are so talented and gifted and with all of that they are so cool many thanks for the great music 🎶 from Tobago ❤
Damn. Never heard "In Reverse" before and when they started playing it I would've bet anyone $100 they were covering "Waiting on a Friend" by the Stones
OMG that Gretsch but the way Adam plays it! And the entire band, I just love these guys, can't wait to see you all again, more than 3 times is never too much to see you guys. And this is my favourite song in addition to a whole bunch of other favourite songs...and in reverse, I'm moving.
Adam's pretty funny. I don't think the audience quite got it though.....his joke about giving a tour. I thought that was pretty slick and cute. I love how polite he is, always thanking them at the end of the songs. Really refreshing! Terrific band! They have such a nice, amazing, melodic sound. I haven't been so impressed by a band since I "discovered" Queen (who I am totally addicted to!) a few yrs ago. I know TWOD is Queen's polar opposite, but I just love their music too.
Yup, me too. Saw them at The Tent last Saturday. They were really good! But I wish they had played more of their upbeat songs: Baby Missiles, Buenos Aires Beach, Taking The Farm, Lost In A Dream. Love them!!
I really enjoy the drummer. He has that kit but he doesn't use the shit he has. Only the same beat over and over again, he can put some fills or whatever so things get a little "gucci" on parts. Otherwise I fucking love them and their music! Thank you!
Some of their songs remind me a band that I was addicted to and still love them after 20+ years.... Gin Blossoms... They're not so similar but kinda like Bod Dylan+Gin Blossoms.
I really like this band its just such a shame they got into the loudness wars on the recordings, hopefully they can be remastered to remove the serious clipping.
