The point about the warriors cover artist who traced photos of cats is such a dumb drama to me. Its not like he traced fanart. His illustration style was realistic based, PF COURSE he would find images of cats to model. Animals especially are hard to draw and full render realistically without a picture to work from to ensure accuracy. What a shocker, artist uses references, oh the humanity!!
IKR!! I love how people now offended that artists actually use references to draw things correctly. Like bruh tf is in ur head people what do u expect from us? Make extremely detailed, nonexistent and never seen before pose with right proportions picture of a cat in our heads and draw from it??
I literally din’t care if you trace pictures, as long as someone else didn’t make it with love and you claim it as your own, If someone traces a picture of a cat, it becomes the artists art, based on the photographers pictures.
I haven't gotten to that part of the video, but if they were doing the art for the book covers, of course they're gonna cut corners or use direct reference! They were probably on a time crunch because _with jobs, you have a deadline._
I fully support tracing real images for practice, but you should always make sure to say that it’s traced if you’re posting it anywhere, and traced art should never be used in map parts or anything for another artist or project unless you use only the traced image as a sketch n turn it into your own style by altering it, as of the traced covers, I honestly see no issue with it
wayne's art is very clearly heavily referenced and done from real images. that's pretty normal for artists. i don't know why people are legitimately upset about that.
Oh boy, I can't wait for part two! You made a great video. Have you considered adding low background music? It could contribute to the feeling of unkown. New sub!
@@SkyPangolin nope I still heavily believe it was ? Why do you act like it was a stupid assumption to make. I read through the book twice noting every similarity and ended up with a notebook full.
I’m pretty sure ballgate was for Alex Harrier’s Do or Die part? I don’t remember a fit being thrown about the part in We All Still Die- but that was ages ago.
I think SS was the first thing of Warrior Cats that I saw, and I thought it was an actual show. I was always confused why I couldn’t remember the name of it, but this brings things to light. Hope you have a good day/night! =D
Man I'm kind of disappointed people in this comment section are treating photography as not real art. It *is* a form of art and *is* protected by copyright. If you want to trace from real life photos, please take your own or find royalty free ones.
i dont get how anyone thought it could be clear sky. the impostor knew some of the cats, if clear sky were the impostor, he wouldnt know ANY of the cats.
About Heavystep, i think Starclan accidentaly gave him nine lives, and his other 6 deaths weren't told at all because that would rise suspicions around the clans
I’m kinda sad that SSS Warriors don’t make new episodes anymore but hey, I have heard another group of small animators are gonna make one and from the trailers we have so far, it looks great!
8:49 Theory: When Heavystep was a kit, he had found himself lost. It was raining or storming, so he decided to look for shelter. Heavykit (if that was his kit name) discovered a cave to stay in until the storm or rain settled. This cave was the one leaders came to to claim their nine lives. The kit decided to touch the rock, unknowingly claiming 3 more lives.
Yeah, I honestly didn’t realize he had a collar colour until I read the books, (yes I watched videos before reading the books) I always thought it was purple, (I mostly watch/watched moonkitti, who uses purple)
Headcanon - Scourge has collected collars in every color of the rainbow and somehow switches them so that clan cats don't immediately know its him from his collar color.
@@randomtraveler4149 But I thought Scourge couldn’t get the collar off and he hated it- which was why he tried putting teeth in his collar in an attempt to get it off. I mean, he could’ve always just changed his mind and somehow figured a way to get his collar off but since he thought it was a good accessory that made him look scary he just kept it on
You should mention ravenpaw x barley, as much as I like talljake, ravenbarley has so much more development, talljake felt more like a bare minimum or a poster child/couple
I think the reason Talljake is more popular since it's dramatic and doesn't have a happy end after all Ravenbarley is a happy couple which had its hardships but they managed to overcome them, Talljake was meant to be but never made reality-many readers can relate to feeling separated from their lover/crush so it's much more popular I adore Talljake slightly more mostly because of Tallstar who is my favourite character (so my opinion is biased) but I can admit Talljake is a little more exciting, Ravenbarley leaves a warm fuzzy feeling in my heart as I can relate to them but not everyone likes that lol
@@billcipher8645 yeah that's a fair point, the only thing that I really don't like is how people act like they're the best gay representation of the series, when they just.. aren't-- we get one book where they develop but then leave eachother anyways, and as far as I'm aware we don't rlly see anything more aside from tallstar being like "firestar looks like my crush lol". I just feel like ravenbarley deserves that title, because we see in multiple books where their relationship is developed and made very clear they care so deeply for eachother, to the point ravenpaw wouldn't join starclan unless his husband was there-- And they're practically just being dada in ravenpaws farewell-- These guys are probably the best gay representation we have so far, and it's sad to see a dramatic one off side story characters take that spotlight. Sure, it's cute and dramatic, but you can't say it's better rep then the literal married couple-- Sorry for the rant there but that's rlly the only part that annoys me
Ha, people really got pissed out some cat balls, he was indirectly mentioned in the first book he hadnt been to the vet like some of the other cats in Rusty and Smudge's area to be neutered.
I think Secrets of the Clans' origin story of the clans is the one that contemporary warriors tell, not what actually happened. It's a legend of a time no one living was there for.
And the people who basically allow any decisions to actually be made are the editing team, I think. Erin Hubter is basically a pseudonym of the writing process of Warriors more than a group of people who actually write it.
I never understood the hate over wild cats having balls. Nobody in the books is neutered- not even the house cats. Sure there's never been a sentence in the books describing other cats balls but that doesn't mean they're not there. I feel like animators should have a right to detail this sort of stuff. It's sort of what making art is- depicting reality. And there better not be any argument over "it's not safe for kids to see" cuz there's enough gore and violence for it to be considered adult content
honestly? i remember seeing that map part way back when it came out and shrugging it off like yeah, they're wild cats, out of the ordinary for a map part but it's part of nature. makes sense. crazy how people threw a fit about it haha
I used to love Warriors when I was younger, but I dropped it during the middle of the Dawn of the Clans arc when I entered high school, but those first 4 story arcs will always have a special place in my heart, happy to see people still talking about this series
I don’t think the whole **Clicks Tongue** Cat… Parts… needed so much controversy. Of course as humans, it’s inappropriate. But for animals, if it was that bad, they wouldn’t even let us see the animals. And the artist was very subtle about it. It’s just two lines and a dot.
Jeez I'm Polish and the official original merch is absolutely trash, there's almost nothing I like from it but the Polish merch tho.. dang I'm so lucky
Sadly they will probably end up bastardizing the movie like they did with the Owls of Ga'hoole movie years ago. They crammed like 5 books into a 1.5-2hr long movie and everything just breezed by so fast and many big chunks of the books were dropped and other things frankensteined together where it didn't resemble the books that much anymore.
I still can't believe tui sutherland is working on my two favorite book series, Wings of fire and warrior cats go hand in hand, its just sweet. Also, not to mention, but wings of fire the series is being worked into a show thats going to be streaming on netflix, though its a pity no one wants to make warrior cats into a film.
Jeez I remember ballgate came back quite recently with a part that I believe was from Alex Harrier? They drew Longtail's balls or something. People really get upset over two lines.
I find it funny how dovewings eyes have been different colors like her grandmother, brightheart. Who's been shown to have amber, green and blue eyes but that debate is old
oh my god! just seeing the name webstarts gave me a wave of nostalgia. my older sister who was also a fan of warriors introduced my to a warriors webstarts roleplaying forum and that shit took over my life for like. years.
About the Tailchasers Song book, check out a Beautiful Friendship. I’m pretty sure Vicky read them and was inspired. They have a similar naming system, have cat clans, the cats have trouble with twolegs (pretty sure they were also called twolegs!), and one of the main characters is named Lionheart. They are similar and I think Vicky was inspired, but didn’t purposely steal the ideas.
The most iconic controversies I’ve heard was the Su saga and the Frecklewish controversy. I find I hilarious how people freaked out over cat balls in animation because feral cats that aren’t neutered have them lmao. I do find the angle weird and funny tho.
The controversy with Greystripe's parents is so funny to me. Like... yall do realize cats will sometimes breed with family members right? Cats don't really have the same incest taboo that humans do, at that point people are actively ignoring how real life nature works lmao.
The warrior cats movie is like the FnaF movie.... eeeexcept for the fact that the FnaF movie is coming out the 27 of october this year (hopefully) I mean, there's a teaser trailer! ....thaat made me lose my hopes quite a bit for the movie :(
Having grown up near there - Hampshire is a COUNTY, not a country XD The country of England is divided into 'counties' ( a little like States in America ) . Also, there are no mountains anywhere near the county
I adored the New Prophecy Quest. When I was a kid I made a board game version of it that's still in a cardboard box in my parent's basement. I don't think I could figure out how to play it now if I tried, but I vividly remember enslaving my friend to help me make all the maps and pieces
I gave my cats b@lls and I somehow avoided ballgate... :---D despite doing so since 2013 in numerous map parts heh heh. Loved The video btw! Can't wait for part two!
I personally think, as a fan of both Warriors and Tailchaser’s Song, that Warriors was definitely inspired in some areas but not copied, if I’m being honest they feel very different other then similar names and some elements of the story but other then that they are completely different, Tailchaser’s song being about a cat going on a quest to find his Girlfriend while having two other cats tag along, and warriors being about a cat going out into the wild and trying to figure out his new way of life and trying to prove himself all while he tries to solve mysteries with his two best friends, the only big similarities with my two little summary things are the two other cats tagging along and that’s just a very common trope.
You know, I consider myself a pretty big Warriors fan. I've read like 98% percent of the books, super editions, manga and those ones with three stories. I know lot's about the books but never really looked at the media side of things. I never even heard of some of these animations and controversy things. Thanks for making this video, it really helped me to understand more about the fandom than I ever thought there was.
all the powers that the three has are based on the senses, dove wing has hearing jay has sight and lion blaze has touch, SO FOR HOLLY SHE SHOULD OF HAD THE POWER TO HEAL SICKNESS WITH. HER. SPIT
I used to play the crap out of the New Prophecy game on the school computers when I was in like, elementary school!! I'm so glad people remember it lmao XD
Dovewing actually doesn’t fit the prophecy. Dovewing is Firestar’s kin’s kin’s kin. If they didn’t want Hollyleaf, they could’ve chosen Cloudtail or Whitewing
OMG i used to play the new prophecy quest game all the time when i was a kid lmaooo i always got the same warrior name of swifteyes and i for some reason convinced myself that that was meant to be swiftpaws name had he not died lol great video!
If you are born female, and transition to male [Transgender FTM] you still have the bodily functions to have kids. So, it's completely possible for Rowanstar to have kits. It's weird, I know, but yeah
@@BusterAnimations I understand that, but Tawnypelt was the one getting kids. Looking at basic biology, two females cannot have kids together, even if one of them identifies as a male
I'm surprised Cloudangel's music wasn't a part of the iceberg. Then again at the same time I'm not too surprised since (as far as I'm aware) they weren't too well known, plus Cloudangel ended up deleting their channel a few years back, 2018 I think? But I used to listen to their Warriors' music when I read the books.
**THIS IS JUST MY OWN OPINION** TW:gore,gr00m,ped0,sexist,racism while we can all agree warriors is an amazing book, but it has sosososososo soooooooo much problems with it,I feel like in one of the books they have said “if you come back to life, you’ll be disabled do you really want that?” Basically disrespecting the disabled and saying they are unless,I also feel they are a bit homophobia and pedo (even tho they are cats in one of the books a cat basically said “well…she’s not an app anymore she’s grown, she’s free play now..” that’s like saying a graduated student and a teacher thinking they are fair play now) LETS NOT FORGET THE MAPS I love maps so much but they have so much gore o don’t see how this book is for 10 year olds,I have seen so many gore ones and so many nasty ones flat out. I’m sure there’s at least 1 WCUE player like me WHO KNOWS WHATS WRONG WITH THE DEVS (Not all!) i feel like the books have has such an impact on people but they follow in there horrible steps of pedo, religion, homophobia, racism, sexist(notice how she cats are treated?),gr00ming (by groom I mean spotted leaf and fire star I HAVE NO IDEA IF THESE NAMES ARE RIGHT but she said “I'm sorry, you asked an honest question and it's only fair I should give you an honest answer without clawing your fur off. The truth is, I love Firestar now as much as I ever did, and I'll watch over him forever, knowing that he can never be mine. He belongs to Sandstorm and to ThunderClan. But my heart is his, and always will be." What I think is that WARRIORS DOES NOT CARE ABOUT US they had so much fanfare of disabled characters yet in a book they dishonor disabled people and after saying “OKAY OKAY WE WILL REMOVE IT!” They lied, they never did anything they left in all prints it’s still in the book Sorry for bad grammar If any,I am tired and this is my personal opinion I may receive hate for this and people standing up for the creators, but I’m just tired of most good fandoms having messed up people and it needs to stop. I’ve been comparing some fandoms from shows to books.wings of fire is such a nice community and I haven’t found any deep drama except for like weirdos, but warriors..is a different story, the amount of gore I feel has had a negative affect on my mind,I’m obsessed with death and blood and I’m trying to help it, I don’t want anyone following in my steps seeing what I’ve seen (AND I DONT WANT THIS COMMUNITY TO BE LIKE MLP PLEASE NO) this comes from my heart I haven’t had anyone to talk to I’m sure no one will read this so it’s just nice to let out, please correct me for any mistakes (with proof please) I still love the books and I’m not trying to target anyone
This video is cool! Also, idk if this is just me, but it seems like Iceberg videos always have some uncanny/weird feeling you get unlike watching other videos, especially as you go deeper.
