Warriors fan here. Klay is past his prime and same with Dray. I'm glad we had all this success and championships we had over the years and I hope some other team and their fans can experience the same type of greatness I had the pleasure of enjoying.
Very respectable take. Although I think the warriors could make some aggressive moves to put some more pieces around Steph, anyone should still accept the core warriors dynasty trio is definitely over
I guess 4 championships were enough to both Klay and Draymond. They've already reached the sunset of their career... As a Dubs fan, it hurts to see them go if they pursue for a trade but sometimes if this franchise wanted to have another championship they needed to revamped even if that means letting their veterans go.
Y'all had a good run you could extend it if you're willing to trade some of the core (or even just Cp3 and Wiggins if you're that stubborn). That would involve picks though and then once Curry retires then it would be some dark, dark times.
Warriors had a good run. That 22 title was glorious and vindicating but writing on wall. The younger guys didn’t pan out or carrying torch, 2 of big 3 are old and don’t carry same weight as mid 2010s besides curry, etc. it is what it is. Time moves fast
Yup. At the end of the day all they have to show for a second overall pick is Gary Payton Jr. Solid role player, but not nearly enough. Poole for a 38 year old CP3 was a bad trade as well.
I disagree about the younger guys not carrying the torch they traded wiseman and pool for chris paul and gary payton which was horrible, they are restricting kuminga and moody growth because they still believe in the system they created for steph, klay and draymond. The only reason they won chip number 4 was mostly due to andrew wiggens stepping up and jordon pool helping out
@@oryan155 Guys like Draymond and Klay have too much pride and don't want to admit they've lost a step. Kerr is too loyal or just as blind as his players and wants to pretend it's 2017.
Warriors org deserves the next 10 years. Had offers for first round pick and a players for Wiggins. Kept him. Offers for Moody during his hot start. Kept him. Wiseman pick, and then holding on to him too long ti where no one wanted him. The dirty little secret is warriors owners don't care anymore lol they got rid of Bob Myers who was the basketball brain of it all. Now it's just finance bros wondering how many versions of a curry jersey they could print for more profit
This ten year stretch was the best in Warriors history, but all dynasties eventually come to an end. The Patriots, the Yankees, the Blackhawks, the lists go on and on…
I said to trade Klay last year, and to trade Dray after he punched Poole who was our SECOND leading scorer on the Team. This is a cumulative affect, starting with him running off Durant. They didn't do it. They resigned Dray, and signed a point guard who needs oil before every game to get his joints to move. New GM is already off to a dumb start.
@@somregularguy KD out of his own mouth said what happen between him and Dray and how the Org handled it played a part in his decision to leave, so your wrong by KD own mouth; Second, Poole was developed to play within the “GS” Offensive scheme of basketball. His lackluster play this year in Washington is proving as much. The GS “system” has a much to do with his success. As it does with Drays entire career. 3rd, Dray, Klay, and Wiggs aren’t helping us this year and they’re on the Team. That’s a fact. you saying “Poole wouldn’t be helping us” is an assumption. I have the data and the proof that says otherwise.
What gets me is when Kerr said they would have passed on ANT even if they had the opportunity to draft him. Hindsight being 20/20 who else besides maybe LaMelo do you think they should have taken since Wiseman busted and ANT is now on the verge of becoming an elite player.
They should've taken Haliburton. He's definitely better than Ball and would have fit very well on the warriors. He's close to Ant as the best of that draft class.
@@jaceygaither2581 That was my thought as well, probably didn't factor into their thinking though since they didn't expect Klay to play like ass again. They also still had Poole on the roster at that time.
Honestly I always thought they should have traded the pick. Why even chance it on a player you have no idea will be good or not, when you could have gotten a decent player for sure that you know will help.
I just don't know how this is, but klay and dray are younger than steph and steph does much for the team, completely carrying this squad, but without them actually doing what they're known for, steph only has like 2-3 good years left til he just calls it quit when he reaches 40 possibly, as a warriors fan too, i only hope for atleast one more championship then that's it, but so far I'll have to accept this dynasty is over, but hey it was great run👏
It’s not looking good at ALL, but I still got faith rn. I seen what these guys are capable of in the playoffs and until Steph really starts to slow down I’m gonna believe 🙏
Pardon me, I am a warriors fan BUT let us accept the fact that Curry alone could not bring this franchise alone to a playoff picture. I have faith with them, I always have been but by looking on to what has been happening to them, I doubt that they could even make it to the Play-In tournament
Klay looked a little better today but man he’s been trying to force this comeback for like 2 years now it’s just not working anymore, I think his struggles are more noticeable now that the warriors are struggling because he’s been like this since he came back. He had a small stretch towards the end of last season where he played pretty solid and then undid all that goodwill once the playoffs started
Dray and Klay are a shell of their former selfs...it's been like that for a min. Klay's is largly due to injuries sapping his abilities...he did well to come back at all tbh. Great run. Hopefully he doesn't go out sad.
It feels like the league has caught up and passed them by, which is insane because they established this style and now all the young guns are taking over. A few seasons ago half their wins would be blow outs where Klay and Steph dropped 25 / 35 and Dray locked down the defensive end, now every time they get any lead you wonder 'can they hold on to it or will they gas out..?' If Klay didn't get injured and they drafted Haliburton I think they could have won 1 or 2 more for sure.
I wonder how Steph feels about Klay and Draymond right now? Like, would he be willing to give up on them for another bite at the apple? That's an interesting question. From everything I've heard, dude is super competitive, so I'd assume winning is still at the top of his list. But does he want to do it without his boys? Who knows? Maybe Klay will be willing to take a pay cut once his contract is up 🤷🏾♂️ We all know Draymond ain't willing to
You can't blame Curry for the downfall on the court because he's still playing well. But you can blame him a little for the roster problems. If he'd said "I'd rather have Durant/Poole going forward instead of Dray" the team absolutely would have done that
Technically you can but it’s also something we gotta respect. He doesn’t wanna be too disruptive in the front office and just focus on playing ball. It’s not his fault the warriors decided to draft wiseman over ball and Halliburton
@@whoknows9193ehhh.. I don’t know about that. In the past he always interrupted the front office as soon as they took Klaus or Draymonds name in their mouth. And if he just focused on ball they wouldn’t be there
@@penlex28 yea that’s fair. He talked to KD a bit to get him there back in 2016 I think. But I respect him still for at least trying to keep the core of him Klay and dray together. Relative to the other stars in the league his front office involvement is still pretty lowkey in that way
@@penlex28 imagine if the front office drafted Haliburton or lamelo in 2020 and then Wagner in 21 This is a dumbass take fam, they used the second overall pick to draft a bust lmao
many factors here, the Warriors had the toughest schedule this November, Wiggins is out of condition But he did post 2 25+ pts gane, Klay is just starting to get 20+ per game, 4th in the last 5 games but none before that, Curry was injured, Draymond was suspended and GP2 suffered a terrible calf injury. Looking ahead, the warriors have an easier schedule in December. Too early to declare anything
The Warriors messed up the chance to blow it up and start a new era after they won their last title, which they already won despite Klay and Dramond, not because of them. Giving Draymond that kind of insane contract was a mistake on several levels, but it also sets a precedent for Klay Thompson and creates ridiculous expectations. Now you are stuck with 2 declining role players that should be on MLE level contracts, but one of them is earning like an all-star and the other one sees himself as one and expects similar treatment. The Warriors should make it clear to Klay right now, that their best offer for an extension would be a reasonable contract for his situation, meaning a 2 year/20 mil contract with a team option for the 2nd year, if he declines that, they should trade him right now for whatever they can get, even if it is just a 2nd round pick. They should also try everything in their power to get off of drays contract, even if that means to add picks to move him, which would most likely be necassary.
I feel like the warriors will figure it out without the rest of the season. I don't see them going deep in the playoffs but I still think they will straighten things out
Steve kerr also said Chris Paul would help them slow down the game and control the pace in close games. Yet every year the warriors were competitive or won a chip they were at least top 4 in pace but now they're barely top 15. What they had worked but they had to go and change the whole offense
Klay has been taking million dumb shots for years and nobody apparently noticed it ^^ The only difference is that hes not hitting them as often now. Still shooting 37% from 3pt. With all the people shlttin on him you would think its 20% ...//
Warriors gotta move on from Kerr. He's loyal to his guys, but it's getting in the way of what's best for the team. Time for Moody and Kuminga to replace Klay and Dray in the rotation.
I wonder if Klay is willing to accept a more supporting role with reduced minutes and a smaller contract. This can give the team an opportunity to either develop their youngsters or acquire a more productive starter.
This probably wont age well, it'd be wise not too overreact to a team that hasn't had its second best player for most of the year, and 3rd and 4th best players have literally had the worst start of their careers while playing so far the hardest schedule in the league.
they weren’t that good last year either injuries or not they will probably finish middle of the pack again maybe even worse but they are nowhere near the 4 championship warriors anymore
They could still stay with the team if they came off the bench or took less money, but both seem too proud to do that. Remember Dray said on PG's podcast that Chris Paul will mentor Kuminga and make him take the next leap. Well, CP's injured now, and Draymond's still playing over him
it’s crazy too cause they drafted great pieces that in theory should have kept them contending with wiseman and poole but just couldn’t develop them mentally and physically
The real best option is keeping all 3 but Klay may need to lead the bench as a 6th man & be their Manu with CP3 dishing to him & keep Green as the facilitator for the starters & build a better lineup but i doubt KT & DG would take the type of team friendly deal to make that a reality
They have made key blunders as they move into the future. The fact is Draymond should’ve been signed to less than 100 million, and Klay needs to sign for less if he wants to stay too. Neither are able to produce at the level they used to be able to… and if they had just committed to less they could sign some free agents and or trade wiggins for other key pieces while the young guys develop. They did not do that. They’ve made a lot of key errors in signing new contracts. Draymond should’ve been on a short leash for over a year, and he struggled to contribute as much as he needs to so they are competitive… but the defense has slipped and the offensive output also declined. Klay slipping has been the nail in the coffin. With the contracts they have they lack any flexibility moving forward…
The dinasty ended the moment the next gen stopped caring. Once Poole and Wiggins got the ring and the bag, they were set. Also, Draymond punching Poole and receiving no punishment sealed the deal.
The dynasty is close to over but idk about totally over yet. People have been sorta hyperbolic but i do understand that only steph is playing like he was before and so on
yea, I think Kerr and his coaching staff have done an extremely poor job of adapting to the new nba, his motion offense has been a turnover party throughout his tenure, and the margin for error for the warriors now is smaller than before Kerr still sticks to this set because it won him championships before, klay and Steph have a lot of mileage on their legs, I'm not sure if playing this style of constantly making cuts/running around screens ALL GAME is the way to go. they need to diversify the offense, and consider looking at adjusting their philosophy/personel The warriors NEVER addressing the rim protector flaw for the last 3 years has been a DISASTER it's been putting more pressure on these older guys to stay in front all these athletic guards in the nba (has led to fouls, frustration, needing perfection from the perimeter defense) Kerr's stubbornness of sticking to getting high IQ bigs/6-8 hybrids (sticking to his motion offense) instead of getting a big that can protect the rim/finish lobs is why the warriors always look small, he's only thinking of offense/ Draymond green can carry the defense with less size, Draymond is getting older, Klay is getting older, Steph is getting older While Kerr is sticking to his same philosophy
I dunno. I really feel 2022 was their last hurrah, just like the 2014 Spurs. They've still been competitive after 2014 but enough to reach the Finals (yeah yeah 2017 WCF but I really doubt they would win against the Warriors.)
In my opinion. As long as we got Curry, we got a chance. Him + Looney carried the team through the first round last year. If one or 2 of Wiggins, Draymond, Klay, or CP3 play like they did in 2022 I think the warriors got a solid shot. Steve Kerr also just confuses me. Like how do his rotations sometimes work but half the time fail.
I predicted Klay being washed before the season started, and as for Dray, people have to understand that the NBA evolves and other teams got rid of their slow lumbering centers and power forwards that Dray could take advantage of, and replaced them with long fast slender guys and big strong fast guys that Dray cannot do a damned thing against. Wemby, Chet, Aaron Gordon and Porter Jr, there is a long list of guys Dray at his age and size cannot do much with. Then Wiggins just has not been the same since the last championship run. The Warriors could still contend if Wiggins was at his peak, and I have no idea why he is not. Curry needs at least one other deadly shooter alongside him, if not two, and they just do not have the reliable 40% from three shooters to go with Curry, so there are too many guys other teams can hedge off of to harass Curry. Now GP II got injured... But what we are seeing is both the championship core getting older and declining, and that other teams have made the adjustment to the new style of play the Warriors introduced and have young good talent to smack them around with.
I always heard that Draymond got away with a ton of holding and dirty play to allow GSW to play so small. But now that the league is once again dominated by big men, and GSW are old news, he ain't getting the same treatment.
And Draymond is a kinda a goofy wash too. His antics are just not cool and bringing the Warriors down. If teams know they can get him to react anyway they want him too that's not gonna help the GSW situation. And Wiggins... They just gotta get it together for real.
Warriors need to think about their future and that likely involves trading Klay, Draymond and Paul at the deadline to a contender for picks (some blessed magic beans). Keep Curry.
You're wrong because they been having the hardest schedule and the bad luck of suspension, bad plays. Wiggins and Klay is clearly back and they caught bad luck with gp2 and cp3 getting injured that game.
Im a major warrior fan but im a fan of basketball and can accept this with a heavy heart. Especially when it comes to Klay, its sad. One of my favorite players and shoulda been top 75 those injuries ruined shit but cant hse that as an excuse cause they happen and they won a chip when he came back. The one move I believe could have saved them was drafting Lamelo Ball and putting klay to the bench
draymond has been good when he has played this season and his offense is nearly the best it has been in his career. the problem has been mainly klay, who is struggling on offense but more importantly is absolutely atrocious on defense now
Kuminga, Brandon, & Trayce r really coming into their own, while Klay’s better shot selection recently has stabilized things. I wouldn’t totally write them off yet
I think that they will make a trade or buyout pickup and be a serious threat come playoff time. Once Wiggins gets into shape and Klay comes around they will start clicking. Never discount the heart of a champion. They beat the LACs last night.
If the front office is smart they should hit a full rebuild and trade their players to go be role players on championship teams and hopefully get them another ring
