Jen isn't implying she and Alex have never been on a date. She's saying that they've both been so busy with work and trying to capture Ransik that they haven't had time for their relationship in what feels like forever.
I think the reason the team was so surprised with Alex was that this was a different Alex. The Alex we saw in the beginning was dead. However, the timeline had been changed and Alex was changed to become a different man, which may have saved his life within the new timeline.
That's pretty much what's implied with the Jen-focused comic we got. It revolved around Alex's sister taking a black chrono morpher and trying to pursue revenge because she was the only one who was aware that alex's personality changed at all, and every time she tried to keep alex from initially dying it'd still lead to his death and subsequent retconning. Kinda fucked to think about, honestly.
I mean it’s not like we the audience spend any real time getting to know the guy before he dies. Plus from what I remember it didn’t seem like Jen and her team worked with Alex very often, more like they occasionally ended up on the same mission. So Alex showing up and being a hard ass always seemed more like that’s the kinda guy he really is on the job, meanwhile Jen had become less of a hard ass herself along with the team all changing in different ways as well. I think there’s even a moment where Alex sort of has a realisation that even though Jen and her team have changed they’re still the friends he cares about and he needs to trust them
The end of Frax desparately screaming for Nadira to never give up and be better always makes me choke and shed a tear, that scene alone is a masterpiece
A part of it may seem a little rushed, but I'd like to think it's like a splash of color into an otherwise black void. He wanted to get himself out of the void he was falling into but was surrounded by proof that he was right, validating his hatred.... until Nadira showed him that bit of kindness he hadn't seen in years, even as he berated her

Fun fact: the Red Ranger from Time Force, Jason Faunt, is from my hometown. We event went to the same high school! Although, he graduated in 1992, whereas I was the Class of 2011. I'd love to meet him at a convention wearing one of my high-school T-shirts and talk to him about what it was like growing up in our hometown.
There's a lot of things I've seen people not get about ranger suit designs, but I gotta admit, if people didn't get this one, I don't know how. Literally everything in this season is themed after clocks.
Fun fact: Time Force is on average one of the more accurate Super Sentai adaptations, this was done out of necessity as a lot of plot important stuff happened in the stock footage. However, their Endgames are VERY different (MAJOR spoilers for Timeranger below): Their equavilent of Ransik, Don Dolerno, does NOT reform and isn’t even the shows final boss, he gets killed by Gein (Frax) out of revenge and he assumes control over the gang 4 episodes before the series’ end. But that’s not the craziest part, we learn the Don’s escape, and every terrible thing that has come from it was orchestrated by Captain Ryuuya, the sentai version of Alex and Captain Logan. Six years ago Captain Ryuuya received two visions that each depicted a catastrophe one that occurred in the past and one that happened in the present. However, while the catastrophe was possible to prevent, it would result in his own death. As a result, he took actions to ensure that the catastrophe in the past would occur and that his own life would be saved. He accomplished this by manipulating events so that Timefire (The Quantum Ranger) would be in the place and time where the Captain’s death was set to occur with the plan being to get Timefire to die in his stead. It works, however he gets fatally shot shortly after his true colors are revealed.
Actually, Gien killed Dolnero not out of revenge, but rather his madness was getting worse. It should be noted that Gien, unlike Frax, was once an innocent young man but mentally and academically disabled.
@@Lord_Chibi I think he was talking about the Dino Gems from Dino Thunder. It's a little strange that two dinosaur-themed seasons have dinosaur crystals as a power source for the Rangers.
Eric is actually one of my favorite characters in the PR canon. Having a ranger who was objectively a hero but not necessarily nice or even altruistic (initially at least) was a really novel and interesting idea and we haven't really seen it since. We've had evil rangers, be they brainwashed or under a spell, but not one who willingly chooses to be selfish and cynical. But beneath that, Eric is still a man who'll always do the right thing when the chips are down. He's had a hard life and that turned him into a hard man, one who believes strongly in meritocracy and resents people he sees as "undeserving" of their wealth and influence, those who'd never consider using said money for the sake of good. It's why he joins the Silver Guardians and it's why he struggles to see eye to eye with Wes for a lot of the series. He's an arrogant, abrasive, self-serving man who's been shaped into such a person because of his lived experiences, but a hero at the same time. One who, by the finale, has definitely crossed over firmly into ACTUALLY good guy territory. His subtle, slow, but genuine development is one of the reasons I love Time Force so much. He's a fascinating character, very complex and hard to like at times, but still my personal all-time favorite sixth ranger. Great video btw, I'm loving this retrospective series of yours!
When you look at the history of this era of sixth Rangers, there was always some kind of attempt to make the 6th Ranger stand out more, by not always having him be with the core team: ie. powers being in danger of being lost, inability to maintain a morphed form, going off on a side quest, etc. With Eric, I always appreciated that he was honestly just a lone wolf who wanted to do things his way. When you're a kid, you're probably annoyed, but as I got older, as much as I wanted him to see eye to eye with Wes and the other Rangers, I completely understood why he kept them at arm's length. And unlike most PR series, I appreciated that they really kept Eric's aloofness to the bitter end of the series. While it would've been nice to see him take part in the final battle against Ransik, I did love that we would finally get to see him as a team player during the Wild Force/Time Force crossover. Eric definitely remains one of, if not my favorite 6th Ranger in the entire PR franchise.
Dan southworth rocks not only because he played Eric but he would also go and play a man who buries the light deep within in, Vergil Dante’s twin brother
I think the rangers "forgets" about Alex dickhead personality, because in the future fighting when strictly obeying commands was their daily basis and they see this relation as "normal". When appearing in the past and working on their own with Wes, they just see they can work as friends team. And only when Alex returns and starts restoring old ways, they realise how awful that old relation was
"Foolisness, Wes. Foolishness. Might controls everything. And without strength, you can't protect anything. Let alone yourself.", "You will not forget this ranger's power! You are not worthy as my opponent."
1:02:07 Wild Force was actually the first Disney season. It just so happens to be the only Disney season made in the US and with most of the cast being American actors.
Its more a transition series, it was partially completed by saban before Disney took over and helmed most of the production. The only other series like that is beast morphers where again early production was done by saban before the show was sold and handed off to someone else.
Disney only took control of the Power Rangers franchise around the middle of Wild Force. Also Wild Force was still being worked on by the Saban team even after Disney bought Power Rangers. Which is why Wild Force is considered the last Saban era season, and not the first Disney season.
I suspect the mutants in this series weren't the only ones discriminated. I'm sure alien beings like Trip and his kind went through something similar due to all the times Earth had been invaded throughout the Zordon Era.
The episode where Ransik is helping the blue ranger has to be one of my favorites. It shows he can put aside his differences for his daughter, which gives some hope that he can be redeemed later... and it's just hilarious
Trip, really is one of the best rangers ever. I loved him so much growing up and who didn't? He had a kind heart, never did any harm, stopped racism and is just like Deku.
It actually was the first time they fought with Alex as a Ranger. Alex is shown in the beginning to fight Alone. Jen, Trip, Lucas, and Katie are a team. Alex only interacts with Jen. There are hints that Alex isn’t quite what others think.
Even more wild fact is that Reuben was in toku. He was Mac Windy/B-fighter yanma in B-fighter Kabuto in Japan. The series that became Beetleborgs Metallix under Saban.
Outside of the known fact that Johnny Yong Bosch from the early PR shows voices Nero in DMC, the original voice for Lady from DMC3 was going to be one of the Pink Rangers. I think the original one from Mighty Morphin was considered, but my info is fuzzy.
@@miniiore Power Rangers Once and Always: "Yeah, we totally wouldn't bring back a villain after seeing her become one of the major leaders of good, without even letting her evil and good halves fight..."
So what you're saying is... Eric is a character played by Daniel Southworth who refuses to give up his POWER to his red clad rival.... Why do I suddenly feel a storm approaching?
What's really funny is when they added Eric to Battle for the Grid they went all in, on making Virgil references. He says stuff like "Now I'm motivated" and " I NEED MORE QUANTUM POWER"
What's really funny is when they added Eric to Battle for the Grid they went all in, on making Virgil references. He says stuff like "Now I'm motivated" and " I NEED MORE QUANTUM POWER"
The fact that a villain willingly turned himself in even though he’s super powerful just because he was convinced by his daughter shows how much of a threat he can be
Isn't the future already changed with the rangers fighting in the past and Alex or whatever jen’s love interest wasn't seeing his past ancestor. Are there any ways they changed the future by helping anyway?
This is definitely one of my favorite series on RU-vid. keep up with the great work, cuz it's amazing being to relive my childhood without having to go back and watch all the episodes! I just can't wait for the Mystic Force one.. which is a long ways away probably lol 🙏
10:16 Ransik lives had already aired in February, a while before 9/11, time force was nearly finished around then. They just edited upcoming and syndicated episodes out of respect Which strangely enough I was actually watching Time force on jetix in the UK when it happened and the news interrupted it
My favourite headcanon in Power Rangers is that the silver guardians eventually evolve into SPD, hence why Sky's father, who was SPD red ranger, wears the red Time Force suit. (I mean, it was definitely because they needed an extra ranger suit that looked vaguely future-ey, but I like the continuity)
Power Rangers Time Force is one of the best seasons because of Mirai Sentai Timeranger. There are a couple of differences in leadership. Yuri (TimePink) is the main leader of the Timerangers while Ayase (TimeBlue) is second in command of the Timerangers. Tatsuya Asami (TimeRed) is the field commander of the team while Domon (TimeYellow), Sion (TimeGreen), and Naoto Takizawa (TimeFire) are just other members of the team.
52:44 when i saw that scene for the first time when it aired.when that music swelled and Frax said to Nadira he was wrong that she don't have to hate and to never give up i cried for an hour. It really touched my heart.
This was where I started growing up with PR. Venomark legit terrified me as a child. Frax is probably the most tragic character in the franchise and Mr Collins is probably my favorite civilian character. Think this is also the last time the franchise looks, I guess, gritty? Everything after looks a lot cleaner
“I don’t know what the arrow represents, it just looks cool”, then immediately shows the clock animation of the finishing moves. It’s the arms of a clock. It’s right there. Cmon
@@gokairedwillcipher I'm not gonna lie, when I saw Trip in this video I automatically thought it was Beast Boy from the Titans live action series. I could totally see Gar and Rachel's future kid looking like Trip.
You know I find it interesting that it wasn't until both Lightspeed and Time Force where a ranger's parent became an important part of the overall story
IM SO HAPPY YOU ARE DOING MORE OF THESE (genuinely love getting a full run through and your thoughts on the series, can’t wait to hear your opinion on some of my fav seasons)
I remember there was a power rangers marathon on nicktoons and a episode of time force aired cause i think it was like the 1st episodes of every season up to at the time samurai And i loved it but for some 7 year old child reason never watched it again Ive yet to watch this season in full I need too
I got the pleasure of meeting Jason Faunt this past weekend. On top of being super nice, he commented about how mature the season was and how Austin St John said he liked it. Jason also said his favorite episodes were "Movie Madness" and "The End of Time". We actually joked about the "Wes is Sky's father" theory and how Wes started SPD.
The time force is one of my favorites because one we didn't get teenagers we kind of got like adults in the show and like in the next because these people didn't go to high school they had police jobs you know and then we went to wild Force to kind of had the same thing it was just a good season and I wish we had more of this in power rangers
@@bigjalapeno7061 true but there were three teams that you couldn't tell if there were teenagers or adults Lost Galaxy lightspeed rescue Time Force and wild Force but if you try to look up like time forces age like what they're supposed to be in the show they can't find a specific age for all of them
Also I don't know the name of the butler of wes's father but that Butler he's a pretty cool guy he's a pretty cool character because he agreed and encouraged us to choose his own path even when he took his father's place after he found out when the rangers needed his help his Butler let him go help them he's a lot like Spencer from Operation overdrive you might be a butler that follows orders I mean he might be a butler that follows orders but he's not afraid to give the son of his boss some important advice even if it means something his father wouldn't agree to
CANNOT WAIT FOR THE NEXT SEASON RECAP - just discovered your channel a few days ago and binged all your PR content, seriously can’t wait until the next one.
I’m sure I’m not the only one who felt bad for frax man seriously guy has probably one of the most tragic backstory in the whole franchise and he ends up having his memories erased and basically turned into a emotionless robot but then he dies soon after he really deserved a better ending 😔
This was my favorite season when I was young. I was the target audience and it was perfect. I loved the storylines, the grand finale, and Eric is still my favorite ranger of all time. Jen being the leader was cool, but I remember it was weird that sometimes they’d say that Wes was the leader even though it was clearly Jen. The grand finale of this season I think is one of the best. It was dramatic, epic, and sad. The fact that Wes was gonna save the world either way without any of the rest of them, but would’ve died in the process, makes him the best red ranger to me
I feel like Jen and Wes shared the lead role but when Wes didn’t know what to do ( which in the beginning was a lot Jen took charge ) but having a pink ranger be the leader was a change of pace
Thank you really thank you for doing these video series....its such a blast from the past seeing and reliving the good ole days watching this on Saturday tv I was bullied and talked about because of my fandom of power rangers but it's good to see these shows have so much more fans than just myself Time Force has been and will forever be in my top 3 PR seasons
I never watched power rangers growing up even though I was born right around when mighty morphin started coming out, nut my best friend absolutely loved power rangers, so abiut two years ago I started watching it with him. We started with this season Time Force, and now 2 years later I've seen every single episode of power rangers. Now we are rewatching Time Force. My rangers journey began on time force, and i wanted it to end by rewatching the season that started this journey, and what an incredible journey its been.
Love watching your videos man! Its like im watching a video i've made myself mentally. Power Rangers was my childhood, but im also listening to this video and halfway through going "Why is roxas's theme playing". Love that youre cultured. Keep up the good work!
Time Force's theme song is tied in first place for me with SPD's. Those two growing up were the most epic and built the hype for the episode. Growing up I didn't like Jen at all, but as an adult I get her more. My only complaint as an adult is: why do they have to keep sending the zords back and forth through time? Like wouldn't it make the most sense to keep them in the present unless it needed repairs?? Who's tax dollars are paying for this??
37:19 My guy, that camera was an antique when the show came out! Yeah, we were still using cameras with film at the time, but I don’t think we were using the instant cameras for more than nostalgias sake. 😊
I don't remember if this was actually stated in the show or not, but I was always under the impression that Alex being alive and his change in personality was due to the changing timeline.
Slight correction pre-death Alex is not the same person as Post-death Alex. Jen is surprised by his personality cause her Alex personality is more aligned with Wes. A selfless man who cares about helping and helping people. This also mentioned in the Shattered Dimension comics. That what they did in 2001 changed the first. This caused Alex to be alive and with a totally different personality. Becoming cold and a mission oriented.
HECK YEAH you know you really put a lot of work in these power ranger vids and I respect you for it ive loved power rangers ever since I was a kid and watched every power ranger show with a smile
I have one distinct memory about the tone of this show. I think I was in like 7th or 8th grade and my dad walked in was like “you still watch power rangers” and I was like “this season is different it’s like a soap opera”
one thing i loved, the action sequences. especially Dan Southworth's choreography. (though short fight scenes, the intricacy of the way he handled these henchmen here, and the cogs in Forever Red; much more interesting than old school.
