The Weirdest Episode of Foster’s Home (and Why it Works) 

One subtle thing that that makes me hate Larry’s creator is that we don’t see him again after the flashback, he’s not a professional player like Jordan, and he doesn’t even bother to hangout with Larry anymore, which implies to me that he lost all interest in basketball at some point after the game. The guy created an imaginary friend, just so that he could crush Jordan in a game (Pun not intended) which resulted in Wilt being permanently injured, and then he just gave up the game and abandoned Larry like it was nothing.

This is honestly perhaps my favorite entry from Foster’s-and I’m sure that has largely to do with Wilt being a character whom I can relate to so strongly. But I really do believe that this is a very special movie/two-part episode with a lot of layers to it, not just another run-of-the-mill “okay” episode. One example of its nuances is how it shows that imaginary friends sometimes serve a greater purpose to their creator beyond their initial inception/why they were conceived. Wilt’s story parallels Eduardo’s this way. Eduardo was imagined by Nina to protect her while also wing nice that he would play with her and her baby brother, but he ended up teaching Nina to be brave to stand up for herself and for him. Likewise, Jordan says, when explaining how he had learned about Wilt saving him only after Wilt left him, “I created you to make me a better ball player. But instead, you made me a better person.”

I always really liked this special and the other Foster's specials. It was cool seeing the kids that dreamnt up Wilt, Ed, Coco, and the others and the story with Wilt settling his past but ready to move on is touching. For some reason I really remembered Wilt's kid was a real life famous basketball player, but close enough. Thanks for covering it and sharing your thoughts
