After many years of dreaming about a vintage supermoto, a Yamaha DT175 motard to be specific, I am finally starting to build one! In this episode I begin by sorting out my wheel set and mocking up the front wheel to the modern inverted front end that I got for this build. Exciting stuff!

Im excited to see this thing done. I have a 1969 ct175 with a 74 engine, its a few steps behind yours. Machining it for banshee reeds, lectron carb, 12v cdi kit, rebuild forks, have an expansion chamber built and put the rebuilt engine back in the frame are all on the lost still. Definitely would be awesome to race one day lol

How do you get the banshe reeds to fit can i do this om my 77dt100 it didnt come witha reed cage or i take boot or carb when i bought it and i camt find them brand mew

@@tonimccoury2303 I brought the cylinder and the reeds to a machine shop and had them weld and port it to fit, I had to make a bout a 1/4 inch thick spacer. They also bored it out .05 over to fit a vintco piston.

Love the vids man I've got a dt100 trying to track down a cheap tank and find a new bottom end and piston lol I've got a lot of work a head of me but my plans are the same as this bike super moto bobber or super moto hardtail

What forks are those and would they fit on a 77 dt100 I hate how dinky the stock forks are and would love to find some upside down fork tubes and some triple trees that will fit with out major modifications

Very cool to see a supermoto dt mx. Was googling that yesterday and the day after you upload it. I recently bought a dt 125 mx from 1981 and I am currently restoring it and was wondering if you know how to get higher ride height in the back. I feel like it needs to be a bit higher.

Building a 72 ct2 175, it looks like those type of forks would work on my bike as well exactly what are they what year are they?

The gold inverted forks are a 2007-ish Honda CR85R front end

Cosmo do you know if the it 175 cylinder and piston will work on the DT 175? What are the best mods to do to the DT

I'm not sure about the cylinder but the '78/'79 IT175 head fits, and it's much better because the spark plug is centered thus making it easier to modify, also I believe it's then possible to adjust the squish properly. Best mods for a stock DT in my opinion is 2 stage Boyesen reeds, OKO 26mm carb, and an aftermarket silencer. If you want more power then I would get the cylinder ported, crank balanced and stuffed, big pipe, 28mm carb, and senddd it.

Do you you know how the CR head set will fit the frame?

You have to punch out the stock bottom triple stem tubes from both sets and swap the DT tube into the CR bottom triple and voila :)

@@kosmoto Oh that's rough. In the US pretty much every store has a 'rental'. Basically it's like you're buying a tool, but the store guarantees you can return it and get your $ back (as opposed to a regular return where they may or may not take it back). I guess too many people were doing that anyway, so the stores decided to capitalize on it and called it a feature :)
