Beautiful song by Ray Price - 1987 A Legend in our own time. Rest in Peace Ray, may god hold you in the palm of his hand. You were a lot of people's hero!
I was today years old when I found out Ray did a version of this song. I grew up with the Gary Morris version. I knew when I saw Ray did this song, that he’d kill it. Everything he sings is amazing. Saw him in concert twice, and he put on an amazing show.
I never heard Ray's version of this until now for some reason. I have heard it sung by many over the years but I think this is the best and most moving version of this beautiful song. It was amazing how Ray developed over the years from the first class Honky Tonk songs of the Fifties to the beautiful Ballads in his later career. As the previous poster said, no one has ever surpassed his class act.
Dale said it so beautifully. And I don't even know how to say how great was a man and a singer. Thank Google for letting us hang on to these songs. Love to Janie for being there for Ray. God bless you. See you in heaven
God Bless You Ray Price ❤️🙏❤️🙏❤️ We Love Your beautiful love songs RIP OUR BROTHER WE WIIL ALWAYS BE GRATEFUL FOR YOU SWEET LOVE SONG FOR OUR VIDEOS ….WE MISSED THIS ONE . ITS BEAUTIFUL WE LOVE IT … THERESA & Ronnie ,Ronald Garrett Videos
I saw him May 4th of this year (2013) and his voice was still great. It was the last concert he's done this year as he was hospitalized a few days afterwards because of dehydration due to his cancer treatments. He's been in the hospital several times since and has now been in there currently 1 month but he's one tough guy and keeps battling on. Prayers are greatly appreciated for one of our last true country legends and country gentemen.
there never has been anyone better than Ray price to the love songs that he has done for us and hope everyone helps keep his memory and songs alive and God bless this great artist of all time
The last time I saw Ray was in Ft. Smith in 2001. He was still smooth as ever. He mentioned that to get a recording contract at that time required looks and youth. He said that after 40 the chances were slim and he just made it under the wire. It got a good laugh. I will pray for him in his time of illness. Ray, in my opinion, is what other singers wish they could sound like. I've been listening to him since the mid 50's.
man I never thought about this song before but just the name has me going. Ray may have a beautiful set of wings in heaven that GOD gave him. I hope I get to see them after listen to Ray for 74 years
For those that don't know, Ray Price has been very ill and would appreciate your prayers....thanks....we are loosing all our heros ....I lost my husband 8/3/2011, my hero and the wind beneath my winds.
To me the message of this song displays the heart of a true Christian man because it gives a bit of credit to someone who must have encouraged him and believed in him. So important in any life. Ray gave a good testimony of his relationship with God so we know he's in a better Place. How does it get better than Country? Just believe what he believed!
I received your message, thanks for subscribing to me. I just got back from Texas and seeing Ray in concert. Totally excellent concert. I got to meet him and talk with him. A dream come true for me.
I agree, he's quite the unassuming guy, he's still healing from his dehydration issue from the first of May. Prayers are always appreciated. He's having a tough time putting weight back on. But he's one tough hombre!
The question is "Who's Going to Fill Their Shoes" when they're all gone? Sorry to hear about your brother. I'm the youngest of 9 and I've lost two older sisters in the last year. My sister and I used to listen to our little transistor radio also at night when we went to bed. Didn't have an indoor bathroom till I was in 8 grade. Kind of miss the simplicity of life back then though. Less crap to deal with.
I have to admit, if I'm doomed to be the last, I'll let someone else take my seat and I'll go in their place. It's been a very tough 34 months, seems like family and friends are dropping like flies. I DO NOT want to be the last, and I sympathize with you.
recognized this singer- a tenor version of Johnny Cash, his voice has a trumet sound- his chest voice is full and dark, his head voice is very creamy- beautiful instrument!!!!
I never liked this song very much and I know there are many recordings of it. This is the first time I heard it by Ray.and now I finally know why I never liked those other versions. I was waiting to hear the best one. Many thanks for sharing this.
Some very convincing moments in this version, but I'm my mind, Gary Morris has got this nailed down forever...just as Ray Price has pinned down "For the Good Times, and Don Williams has with "Good ole Boys Like Me" ... forever
MY HUSBAND ALWAYS SAID WIND BENEATH MY WINGS WAS MEANT FOR HIM AS JESUS. IS HIS HERO AND GAVE. HIM FAI TTH ALSO THE BALD EAGLE WAS. HIS. STRENGTH TO FLY WITH JESUS. JESUS IS HIS. WIND BENEATH HIS WINGS.BEA.
