Ritchie sounds like Chris Cornell and plays like Eric Johnson on speed. Insane talent. Wish Rush were still touring, would love to see these two trios tour... a musician's dream.
+Trent Hogan I must gently add. :) Richie sounds unique, plays unique... too much underrated around the world, for such a talent. Btw, TWD is any musician's dream. definitely! God bless us all, forever!
As a bassist I absolutely am blown away how Sheehan only seems to get better by the year. Whenever he does his mind blowing solos you'll hear some snob say "bass is about groove" 😂😂. The man (and rest of this band) is the epitome of syncopated grooving. One other point of observation. That trade off between the guitar solo and lead bass is about as perfect as you can get and they can hack it LIVE.
Just saw them live Wednesday night and watching him blew me away. I always knew he was great but not that great. I was literally 5 feet from him. It was crazy. I was there to see my boy Mike Portnoy.
TRUTH.. Billy seems to be tyhe basist version of dick clark he gets older ( has to) but we dont see it cant tell he destroys today like he did 35 y ago.... I just saw them play in Ventura Ca. in May they were killin it.
usually i would write '' come to slovenia please'' but now that i heard the whole album and seen this video i'm just like fu** it just come to europe i'll go anywhere :D
Sir Ritchie Kotzen, one of the best guitarists ever. Now I just discovered he just have an super epic vocals. Damn, fatality. Sir Billy Sheehan, this guy is THE BASSIST that makes most other guitar players in the world envious. I play guitar and I know that generally never happens lol. And Sir Mike Portnoy, awesome to see you in this soon to be legendary Trio.
What you said! I got to watch them in Nashville for my birthday in April. I want to see them again. Three bad mofos! Richie is one of the best in the world. He's my fav guitarist.
I would NEVER purposefully search for any of the guys in this band to see what they are up to as an old school prog metal enthusiast from back in the day. All I can say is WOW what an ass I have become. Finally taking all of that technical playing and making a great song of it!!! Great job guys. You have earned a big fan!
This video contains everything that a man who loves rock wants. monstrous prodigies playing drums, maniacs with tremendous technical playing bass guitar, guitar gods playing phantom notes at breakneck speed and girls with pierced nipples. yeah!
This is exactly why I dont watch any music awards shows. Its all based on album sales. Not talent. These guys are incredible musicians. What instrument does Kanye play? Oh yeah, the microphone...
@Cire Rednulk Kim won’t be playing his skin flute anymore that’s for sure. Either way I just discovered Richie Kotzen recently I gotta say I should be kicking my own ass for not finding out about him or the Winery Dogs sooner.
Kanye is probably not the best example, you can find plenty of tapes of him producing his own beats and stuff, and his influence in hiphop is astronomical. You can’t really compare the two of them, this is a band full of virtuoso musicians who make amazing music for a niche group of listeners, and Kanye makes music for the masses, something to sing along and dance to, and there is nothing wrong with that either. Let people enjoy whatever they want to, both of them make great music, yes this is more technical, but the point is for you, the listener, to enjoy it.
Ritchie is a double threat. I remember as a kid, Mike Varney sharing Ritchie's demos with me. After being blown away with his playing Mike goes "oh yeah, and that's him singing too". I wanted to give up right then and there!
@@Therealgamer-js2sb I mean I like Chris Cornell too, but Richie is definitely leagues above him with his vocal control in melismatic singing and range.
Came to me in the middle of the darkest night I don't know if i was screaming or i got to hide All my demons are closer Lying blind but my eyes are open wide From the darkness, to the light, to the place I die Wake me up when it's over I am off the edge and now I am somewhere in oblivion And my walls are breaking through Out of my head and now i am somewhere in oblivion All because of you Came to me, find the shadows to reset my mind Right me up now i fell like i'm doing time And i don't know her I am off the edge and now I am somewhere in oblivion And my walls are breaking through Out of my head and now I am somewhere in oblivion All because of you I am off the edge and now i am somewhere in oblivion And my walls are breakingthoruh Out of my head and now i am somewhere in oblivion All because of you
First time I listened to this album was one night after work, I waited all day long to listen to it and when I finally did, on the bus ride home, and when the intro kicked in, I think my pupils literally dilated and I started laughing from the pure musical epicness and rockin-brutality of this song and the MAD skills combined in this wizard-like trio. Then I noticed Billy's bass, and I was like WHAT?? THAT'S A BASS?? PLAYED BY ONE MAN?? Richie's licks like he's on cocaine, and then Portnoy just doesn't give those drums a break... I just couldn't stop laughing at how ridiculously good they are, and how heart-rate-boosting this is. It's just so good that it's funny; it's like they said: "let's make a song but lets just do "solos" all over the song, but all three together and sing over it".. that's how f***in good this is... damn...
To the 723 people who gave this a thumbs down, what the fuck is the matter with you? This song is such a breath of fresh air. By far, the best shit i've heard in years. Way to go brothers and please keep doing what you are doing. Musicianship at it's finest, years of dedication and mastering your craft. If given the chance I would very much like to shake your hands for a fantastic piece of work. thank you so very much for this!
Way to go, focus on the negative. That’s exactly what these social media websites want you to do, and you played right into it. All that does is prove that you go into things looking for something to be mad about. Fuck, I’m glad you can’t see the number of dislikes anymore. Get a life.
@@Rountree1985 You know what? You are exactly right. On the other hand, go fuck yourself. What the fuck is some idiot like you doing on here in the first place? That's what comment's are for, dumb ass. If you knew jack shit about shredding music you could see that these three guy's are a phenomenon indeed. So, stop worrying about what other people are doing and focus on yourself, oh, that's probably a bad idea also.
I dig it all the way man. All three musicians are some of the best at their craft. Buy the album and support these guys. You will not be disapointed. all the songs are killer.
First of all, instant fan. Just found this band and the first thought I had was how much this guy sounds like Chris Cornell. Everyone seems to be pointing that out, lol. I don't think they should, but if they ever did want to continue, Soundgarden should call this dude.
This guy is awesome... The voice is raspy enough to kinda reminds me of Rod Stewart. He is magnificent. The drummer is fantastic and so are the Guitar players. Believe it or not I am a oldies and Praise & Worship music, But these guys...Gotta have more... Love them...
Another group with A-level talent that will never escape the C-list because today's music biz consists of teens making synthetic pop and hip hop. Yes, I know I sound like an old man. (And I am one, too.) ;-)
Kick ASS BAND each member with a pedagree that is impeckable!! The live in Japan concert is just top shelf the videographer and audio engineers should be given awards as well! If you like G3 you'll love this band!
Couldn’t agree more with you sir. It completely blows my mind why this band never got any radio airplay. They are the 21st Century Cream power trio. Hands down.
+Orion's Harmony Ritchie Kotzen was playing arenas before you were an itch in your daddy's britches so stop with the whole thinking this guy is some kind of vocal copycat because you heard some made for the radio fashionable shit with similar vocals. You'll never hear these guys on the radio and that's because the average American listener has the musical taste of a kindergartner.
+fishguru73 I agree and stress the word AVERAGE being a not so average American listener. Imagine how I feel looking at all my favorite bands playing Europe and never coming here. On the other hand there are plenty of real music lovers here or certain bands the "mainstream" never even heard of would not sell out concert halls in a day. So at the end of the day bands like this are making money by touring and not who gets the next Grammy.
