After the shootout, Omar survives the fall but injures his leg, so he hides in a utility closet and soon limps out on a makeshift crutch. (Season 5, Episode 6 "The Dickensian Aspect") Featuring Michael Kenneth Williams
As if to say the reality of Omar is much different than the myths and the stories. Like yeah he's a badass and he survives crazy shit but now in the epic way people would expect.
For me, this actually just shows how Marlo and crew were really nowhere near as competent as people say. There's literally only one building he could POSSIBLY be in and they didn't search it thoroughly 😂
Michael K's acting in this one scene alone should have gotten him an award!! I've never seen an actor portray real pain like that so convincingly.. Even made me hurt just watching it.
Yup revenge was his fate. Trying to get revenge for butchie. If you remember in season one when he got shot by Wee Bey he left and went to NYC for a couple months to lay low and heal.
Yes just like he did when Wee Bey shot him in the shoulder.. He left to NYC to heal. But yesss at this point he didn’t care about healing he was applying ALL pressure to marlos organization. Ultimately it took his life at the end. It took a lil shorty to kill Omar, I honestly couldn’t see it happen another way. Only way u kill Omar is if ur a kid someone who he pays no attention to.
That pan up to the balcony he jumped from was genius. You naturally feel like the camera needs to stop at the 2nd or 3rd story but it just keeps going up and you're just kinda hit with the height from which he jumped.
@@el.bandito ok n by da time this episode aired it was 2008 so i have no idea what that’s supposed to mean? the fuccin iphone was out burners was definitely not a luxury 🤣🤣 dey only used em for da entire show right
Truly great acting! You just knew that things were never going to be quite the same for Omar after this. The beginning of this scene makes me cringe every time I watch it. Michael K. Williams really portrayed undeniable pain and agony here.
How Omar was able to walk at all after that is amazing. But you just knew that once he was no longer able to maneuver at 100% it was over for him. Especially when the little kid that would ultimately kill him saw him like that, the whole aura around Omar was now burst.
Yeah, Michael K Williams has awesome facial reactions and really sells the pain and emotions he goes through. The other scene it reminded of was when he's burning himself with cigarettes.
I don't wish this pain on any person.my tibia broke and cut muscle tissue and almost came out.you cannot walk on a injury like this,no matter how hard you are!
I watched a YT vid with the writer/creator, David SImon (?), and he said the real Omar supposedly jumped from 6 stories, and ended up with basically a sprained ankle (he may have been exaggerating, I don't know, or implying the real Omar was), and that while it may have been or not, when they looked at 6 stories, he said, "Its too high...make it 4".
I love how they build up this legendary character over three-and-a-half years, then along comes Bunk with his speech and they completely break Omar down.
Matilda they didnt break him down, they showed how omar’s morality and he was a true hero to the streets. He had a code “never put a gun on anbody that wasnt in the game” its the same type of code that any other vigilante goes by. Seeing omar show sensitivity to bunks words show how he was god’s warrior but didnt grow up like bunk did nor had the opportunities
@@indiapacheco8997 he was feared til kenard seen him and see that he was busted up limping and thought this Omar this nigga on a crutch and y'all scared of him
The real-life Baltimore stick-up artist who Omar was partly based on, Donnie Andrews, apparently survived the same jump, except it was two stories higher. Look it up.
because they were looking for him in his neighborhood and spots that they thought he would hide at. who the hell would expect him to be 15 feet away from where he fell out of a window after being shot at? most people would get as far away from there as possible. they didnt bother to look there because it was too obvious.
If kris and snoop were smart, the first thing they would do is search the area that he fell. This scene was unrealistic and i dont know how the fanboys defend it. They say The Wire is not cliche but when a stupid thing happens like this, they have numerous excuses. Also how did Omar get in there , wasnt the door locked? This scene and the McNulty serial killer storyline (Season 5 in General) are maybe the stupidest things from a great show
@@chriseleftheriadis9379 cops came because of the gunshots they had to leave, cops left but thought he left by car or was in the hospital, kris sreached the rooms because thats where cops find him outside.
Pain is pain no matter how hard you are when you get injured like that you feel tears pain vulnerability and victimized look at him trying keep himself together
It ain't about how "hard" you are, it's just your Autonomic (involuntary) nervous system responding to stress. Ain't much you can do about it, really. You just gotta roll with it.
@@meowmeowone8479 Ive learned that this isn't always true. Between adrenaline and somehow telling his body it was okay my pops survived 48 hours with his thumb shot off, another bullet went through his left leg, and he had a lot of grenade shrapnel in his back and shoulders. He couldnt be medevaced for 2 days and continued fighting. No pain killers and nothing more than field dressings. Some people are just made different.
@@meowmeowone8479 Also this part with Omar is based off of an actual event. Except the jump was truly one story higher. The man survived and got away. Dont know if youve had an actual life or death situation but adrenaline does insane things to your body. Gives you this crazy tunnel vision and when I had a bad situation when I was younger I actually had an out of body experience while I was running. I was watching myself run from something... Weird stuff.
What I love is all the other character will probably never know that Omar just hid in janitor's closet so it just adds to Omar's legend status that he jumped from a building then disappeared into the night.
Simple Pleasure: I absolutely love watching these clips from, honestly, maybe 1 of the 3 best t.v. shows of all time. I love us, the fan's comments about the show. The passion! The empathy and the desire to understand the Good and Bad about the characters that make up the show. Please keep posting videos!!! And please, please, continue posting thoughtful, inciteful comments.
yes we did, when he took one to the arm from bey, and another emotional scar was when his obsession with robbing barksdales stash as vengance for killing brandon, go tasha killed
I Think the actor who plays Omar “ Kenneth Michael Williams “ is one of the best actors I have seen in a long time . Hope to see him on more series and movies in the future.
That jump was a end to the omar we knew..it was the beginning of his downfall. The metaphorical signs the wire give is the best read in between the lines
I was screaming at my TV "OMAR GET OUT" during this entire season. You knew he was going to die as soon as you saw his reaction to Butchie's death even before he broke his leg.
@@amitkenan3878 Anyone with an average IQ would do the obvious thing and search the place at which he fell. It was Just a stupid scene like the WHOLE Season 5
Even though he broke his leg after jumping out the 5th floor balcony trying to avoid getting ambushed by Marlo's crew, he doctored himself and continued to make things tough for Marlo's crew. Omar Little Rocks!!!
He was exactly how he lived and how he died. You kinda become full of yourself, which fuels you for a stronger impact and made you vulnerable at the same time. It is as human as it can be.
Shit. I broke my ankle falling from a two story house. Hurt like hell. If I fell from a six story building, I'm pretty sure my whole leg/knees/pelvis would have shattered.
Depends how you fall and your state of mind. If you tense up you will break a lot of bones. If you're relaxed during the fall then not so much will break because your body won't be so stiff and will be much more flexible. That's how a drunk guy survived such a fall out of a window. He was too drunk to realise he was falling and only suffered minor injuries. Same happened with a baby that fell out of a window. Minor injuries. Of course, there is a limit to how high you can fall and survive but 6 stories isn't much if you land right and are not tensing your body up when you fall.
True..My guess is that there were either rubbish bags or flower beds that cushioned his fall. I know what it feels like Jumping from a two storey building although there was softsand to cushion the fall.
@@morganbrown392 Paul Bettany's character Dryden Vos was originally for Omar's actor. But he was going to be a big alien type character voiced by Omar's actor. But he couldn't commit so they casted Paul Bettany instead.
It really depends on the extent of the injury. I'm not a doctor, but I've broken quite a few bones. If you can get to a hospital quickly and have the injury treated, there's a good chance that you'll be walking normally again after weeks of stabilization (i.e. a cast) and rehab. But falling from that height, he probably wouldn't have just broken bones. There was probably ligament, tendon and cartilage damage too, and those injuries take years to heal or never completely heal. Only a cat is going to walk away whole from that kind of jump.
EXCUSE MY FRENCH😃BUT GOT DAMN AFTER WATCHIN( IMAGINING) THE JUMP SEEING Him wrap his LEG UP MAKING SOUNDS OF A PERSON WITH INTENSE PAIN GOT DAMN!!!! HE PLAY THE HELK OUTTA THAT SCENE🙄 ACADEMY?/ OSCARS??👀🕕U friggin name IT👻The Specialist 😇
This reminds me of what I went through when I was living in Baltimore, Md. Me and my co-worker Terry just got off work on a Sunday night. This was when the M28 bus 🚌 was running down Liberty Avenue down to the Mondomin section of Baltimore where I lived at the time. While me and Terry ran for the last bus for the night, I somehow fucked around and slipped on black ice, landing on my right knee, and twisted my ankle badly. I was in so much pain, I was dizzy 😵. I looked just like Omar here. A fucked up leg is serious!
Say worrd son!! I popped my left ankle outwards and I was moving like wee bey, when he got shot by Omar, all the way home.. Just a block or two but yah Out for 6 months Had to learn how to walk right and shit Pain is transformative
The Omar from season 1-4, would have found a way to get to a hospital out of Baltimore or used his 'network' to find someone to mend him up. I think also he would have left town, got healed, and put together a team to come and deal with Marlo, rather then be limping around Baltimore in total warrior-mode. The Season 1-4 Omar probably would have gotten together with Brother Mouzon and had an interesting, yet persuasive conversation with Mouzon to join forces with him to take out Marlo. It would been a unique, repeat of what they did to String. Season 5 Omar was still effective in tearing down Marlo's 'muscle' and 'name', but the Omar from previous seasons, was more strategic in his 'MO"...
+mikem987 I think you're letting your imagination run wild a little there. That would have been a really cliched story that wouldn't have made any sense. 1) Omar and Brother Mouzone were not friends, or even associates. Their relationship in Season 3 was temporary and they both knew that. It was purely a marriage of convenience, borne out of the fact that Mouzone did not have local knowledge of Baltimore and Omar did, and in return Omar got someone capable in his corner to go up against Stringer with. Once Stringer was dead the relationship was over. 2) Mouzone had absolutely no beef with Marlo at all. And he and Omar were not friends. So why on earth would he have come to Omar's aid? And 3) Omar didn't have a network. He acted alone. Sure he had people helping him at times, but basically he was a lone wolf. Butchie might have been able to help him but he was dead at this point.
+safeeuropeanhome He had a network what the fuck are you talking about. He literally had people helping him every single season (from cops to criminals) prior to the final one.
Only one thing; with Butchie going down Omar wasn't never gonna be the same. That was the fate of Omar in a nutshell. Butchie I feel like was his only last connection to staying alive...
Butchie was always his biggest, and maybe only real connect. The two dudes Butchie sent as protection for Omar in prison? One is killed in this scene, the other shot in the leg at the bar. Kimmy retired after their last big heist, her girl Tosha is dead. He has no type of network. Butchie was one of his only friends, everyone else in the criminal world is his enemy. Also, sure, he always had help during scores, because everyone had the motivation of getting paid. Remember when they shot grandma's crown? Kimmy was out. Dante, Omar's boyfriend, offered to help but Omar refused. It was personal between Omar and the Barksdales, just like this is personal. Even if he still had friends, none of them are interested in taking on the entire Stanfield organization because of a personal vendetta.
How in the -hell- are u suppose to get to a hospital after jumping off a god damn building with half the west-side looking for you immediately; including the people who just attempted to kill you. Get to a hospital out of Baltimore? Come on man you should of stopped at there.
I fell 4 stories off a balcony in 2015, I shattered the medial tibial condyle (the ball at the top of the bone at the knee joint) and suffered a spinal compression fracture as well as sprained every finger I have. I screamed loud. The spinal fracture healed like nothing happened, same with my fingers, but my knee now has a big plate in it and 8 long screws from one side to the other. Fortunately my surgeon was an absolute expert, so I can still walk pretty much normally although I have no meniscus (cartilage between the femur and the tibia) and no ACL.
@@roll14tideroll No, it's gone forever. My knee isn't doing too bad either, I think it's gonna be another ten years before I will need a knee replacement too. It's when I say things like that I remember the huge smile the surgeon had on his face when he came to see me after. He knew he did an amazing job.
I never got how Marlos crew never found Omar in that basement. they looked everywhere except the basement of the building where the shooting took place. you think they would have looked there first.
@@knightsonofjack No it looks like the thing that it would never happen in real life LMAO. It was very unrealistic and dumb. Season 5 is disappointing ant worst of the show because of lazy writing like this
To me, the entire show seemed like something that could have really, truly happened. In my opinion, this is the most unrealistic part of the show as far are physically ability and characters having plot armor. This is still quite within the realm of reality and this man was a damn fine actor!
Some of this shit did really truly happen like Omar jumping from the balcony and surviving an ambush. Omar is based on real life Donnie Andrews who was ambushed in a building and survived by jumping from the 6th floor balcony
Marlo knew Omar was coming full force after seeing that he survived that jump it looked like he wanted to fuck Chris up but he just walked it off ... My only disappointment with the show is that Omar & Marlo never got to battle ... Honestly my $$ would've been on Omar for the win ijs...
Whats crazy? When they interviewed the person Omar's character is based on, this jump actually did happen. Even crazier? It was from an apt higher than the one they had in the show. Simon said they couldnt film that because no one would believe it.
