World class writing. The killer line is, ‘So, ok, see you tomorrow?’ Even the question mark is perfect.

The funniest thing is, you realize how powerless Herc and Carver feel without their guns and vests. And how what they do is just a job, nothing more.

I believe the scene was to show that cops and drug dealers are human. They both enjoy the same things. Also to explain the cat and mouse game the two sides play.

One of the best scenes from the Wire. It goes to show that people have a life outside of their job/crimes. Thugs on one side and cops on the other, both going to the movies to escape of their problems.

One of the great thems of the wire is that all sides learned the difference in an opponent vs. a true enemy. Bodie/Poot vs. Herc/Carver/Prez was about being opponents in the game but not enemies.

Man if nobody understands the significance of this scene to the show let alone everyday life, I'll help you. These same cops that put on a uniform for 8-12 hours a day and become total assholes roughing up drug dealers and acting hard eventually go home and become a family man and do normal things. Sees the same drug dealers they rough up everyday in a setting outside of work and then there's no issue. Its saying how people put on masks everyday to get a paycheck and then go home to be normal everyday people. A police office on duty can pull over somebody who runs a red light, but when off duty and sees the same thing, is not obligated to do so. GREAT SCENE WITH SO MUCH UNADULTERATED IRONY.

I always felt this scene was meant to show how similar these groups are but also to intimidate the officers. Notice none of them speak and seem somewhat fearful. Without their badges their unprotected while Bodie and Poot are no different than when they're on the block.
