A WOMAN from Ohio with rapid ageing disease has been told she is one in 50 million. Tiffany Wedekind, 41, was diagnosed with progeria when she was in her late twenties. Her brother, Chad, who was also diagnosed with the illness, passed away from complications related to the disease seven years ago. Tiffany’s case is unique as children are usually diagnosed with progeria in their first two years of life, and tend to not live past adolescence.

Everyone always comments how pretty these people are, but being pretty isn't really that important. They are beautiful on the inside in ways we aren't because of what they have been through, and that shines outward ...my opinion

Agree completely, I get tired of hearing how people are beautiful- it truly doesn't matter. It's irrelevant. And what if you aren't typically wonderful looking? It doesn't mean you aren't completely valuable. From the comments on videos and the shallowness with which people perceive the world you would think all you are is your physical form. It's an ugly way of seeing people and life. Seeing only looks commodifies humanity. We aren't brands or products, we are souls. Thank you for sharing your opinion. I Don't hear that often and appreciate it!

I agree...looks should not be tied to the value of a person. Unfortunately in society it is and it shouldn’t be. Not everyone looks like a model and that’s ok. It’s who the person is that matters most...inner beauty and a positive attitude radiates outward. Someone can look beautiful by societal standards and be ugly and evil on the inside.

Ppl with abnormal conditions do feel sorry for themselves just like ppl without conditions. I watched a video where a lady with some issue talked about days where she get down. But its a 10 minutes video and she wants to spready love joy and posiyivity so she wony dwell on the cons of progeria. Shes 41. She has had time to accept it and not wallow in it. But she is human, she does have down days where she wishes she was "normal"

No kidding. A lot of doctors now are just in it for the money. When I got my eye removed in 4th grade the doctor messed up my eyelid so bad that my eyelashes are split, I have bumps on my lashline, and I'm missing the outer half of my waterline. All because I was a Medicaid patient and he wouldn't get paid as much for my surgery.

_Her Mother has it?!!_ Okay, I get now that this family has a very, _very_ unusual form of progeria that does not affect them so severely....they can live longer...but this is the first time I've heard of someone who lived long enough to give birth to children, and not know they have it at all! This is the first time I've ever heard of such a form of the disease. What a unique and amazing family!
