The fact that when saying "I'm scared" and "I just want to hug you, papa" Pinocchios nose grew, really shows the masterpieces Meatcanyon is making for us.
I absolutely love the little detail when Pinocchio said, "I'm scared" or "I just want to hug you, papa." then his nose grows. Seriously chilling and terrifying.
@chibichan9586 They ain't even scratching the surface. Try reading them sometime, truly messed up stuff in the source material. Even more-so when you start diving into the myths that inspired them
I don't see anyone mentioning this even 8 months later. If you look at the scrolls closely and listen. The wish spell required Geppetto had to make a deep and personal sacrifice to bring his son to life (or back to life it's not clarified.) He sacrificed the other man's son instead. So this abomination came out half-formed, it's after the missing soul, and the poor fucker in the doorway got nailed when it lunged at Geppetto.
That makes sense. Sacrifice meaning not only ritual sacrifice but also sacrifice as in giving up what’s important to you. That’s why Pinocchio fuses with him at the end . The only person Geppetto valued was himself. Sounds like he needed to actually really care about the sacrificial child before committing to the ritual. Then it would become a real boy in both body and soul. This ritual would basically require a pain equivalent to the loss of a child to gain a “real” son.
His parodies were always horror but back then they were at a level where they weren’t that scary, but instead, they were extremely disturbing. His animations now are also extremely disturbing but they are also scary as hell
Everyone report the fake MeatCanyon account above. Choose “this channel is impersonating someone else”. Copy the URL of the REAL MeatCanyon by copying his URL link so you can give YT the correct info.
Yes also when he says he just wants to hug him It shows he's not just a scared kid acting on impulse but that he's a sadistic monster that gets pleasure or joy out of killing people
Having this in Geppetto's perspective is even scarier. Makes it feel like _we_ are him. But Geppetto probably deserved it for sacrificing that man's son.
I love the imaginary timer slowly ticking, with him trying to find the instruction he missed, only to exclaim the foreboding, “I already did this!” Basically showcasing it was all over.
It's terrifying because, if you pay attention, you know what's going to happen. It's a kind of suspense where the audience knows but the characters don't... and the true horrors haven't been shown
@Jose_Gabriel _Arias_Llaque I saw another comment state that the reason the magic didn’t work was because Geppeto didn’t sacrifice anything. He only kidnapped and murdered another father’s child, he didn’t make any sacrifices.
@Jose_Gabriel _Arias_Llaque He said "you need to sacrifice" and not "you need a sacrifice", which is totally different, also, probably didn't sacrifice the child to Pinocchio, but instead killed the child and fed it to him, which doesn't work
That's not the reason it didn't work lmao. The reason is because him taking someone's child then giving it isn't a sacrifice. Him giving his own life is a sacrifice
So the story is Geppetto found some scrolls that have instructions to make a real boy. It involves a sacrifice which is the killing another boy. He goes through with it but instead of a real boy, he created a monster puppet. The boy's father comes after Geppetto knowing he was the one who took his son only to be attacked by the puppet. Notice that when the puppet speaks at 0:56, a faint demon voice can be heard and his nose also elongated when he said he was scared meaning he was lying and was trying to bait the Geppetto from pity. It is unknown whether it was a mistake that led to this abomination or if the scrolls were lying all this time and it was actually instructions to let this beast loose in the human world. We would never know. Regardless, the Geppetto gets punished for the crimes he had done, for the boy he sacrificed. His creation now consumed him and trapped him inside the puppet forever.
@@wherethehoochiesat4210 My comment is for the people who didn't get all the details. If you only watched it once, there's a lot of details you might miss because the short film was just so fast paced and action packed.
Plus there's the implication that the "sacrifice" meant to create the real boy is larger than expected, as eating Geppetto gives him an eye, and eating the boy gives him life.
The biggest things I love about this are when his nose grows. The lines “I’m scared papa” and “I just wanna hug you” both cause the nose to grow, indicating the more sinister intent.
The fact that he had to eat two people just to make ONE of his eyes become real is a terrifying statement in itself. How many people does he have to gorge himself on to become entirely human?
I don’t know if it took 2 people to make a single eye. I think it was more Gepeto’s consciousness is trapped in the meat that became an eye. The other guy is likely in the other eye, but imagine it, trapped inside the monster you made, forced to watch him kill and eat.
He actually didn’t form to become Pinocchio’s eyes. If you look at the part where he first run into the other room you can see he runs past another doll. They are even wearing two different shirts. I think because he read the scroll before dying his soul was maybe forced into the other doll.*
@@tiran7908 you're wrong. The first guy he ate, he got the voice from him. That explains why he has the biological throat. The second, became the eye. Hence why its still from his perspective. The other doll was just a trial puppet in the background that has nothing to do with penochio. The guys son was also sacrificed to give it life as you can hear him mumbling the word sacrifice while reading the scrolls.
The nose growing after the “I’m scared” was the best use of Pinocchio’s quirk. This was awesome. I would love to see a full length horror film from meatcanyon
yeah this TOTALLY would be a great candidate for full length. i'm hooked, and feel there is a whole world here, it just needs animated. this is a peek through a cracked open door.
This reminds me of the fiddlesticks league of legends trailer. And if Arcane taught me anything its that when you make cinematics this good, you can make a full film or show epic like Arcane proved.
That was great! I especially liked the story being told in First-person and the audience being in Geppetto's shoes. Reminds you of those found footage horror movies. Although I rarely get scared and I'm a huge fan of scary movies, when Geppetto turns around, it sent chills across my body seeing Pinocchio lunge at him and the vistor with that gaping mouth. Definitely nailed the horror factor.
The fact that his nose grew when he said he's scared gave me goosebumps dude. Amazing touch. I also loved how Pinocchio learned that two puppet strings wasn't enough since he had a knife so the second time he slung four strings out. It's those details that I really appreciate.
Frightening foreshadowing. I thought this would be a twist where the grandpa is actually the bad guy but that nose growth gave away the fact that the kid was the villain all along.
@@robbylawlor4259 They're both bad guys though. The old guy Geppetto most likely used the son of the man who came and got eaten. He most likely transplanted the organs of the boy to Pinocchio along with some dark magic or something. Basically, he killed an innocent boy to make Pinocchio a real boy but he instead kept his wooden vessel, came to life and turned evil.
If I understand well, Gepetto kidnapped a child to make a ritual to make Pinocchio a real boy but it failed and Pinocchio turned into some kind of abomination, is that correct ?
@@jjiokl-2110As far as I can tell, Gepetto in this was doing... *some* sort of magic involving the great fairies, or the fairy godmother. The scrolls have a fairy of some kind drawn on them and you can *kind of* hear him muttering about fairies and wishes as he reads them.
It’s likely in this universe, the fairy’s are more malicious and possibly have some kind of dark or demonic properties. The scrolls instructions were likely written by them, with unfortunate sods who find and use them having their creations or whatever kill then. They end up more corrupted, evil. In a sense, it’s the whole old saying “be careful what you wish for” they get what they wish for, but not what they wanted.
I love that when he is reading the last scroll you can hear him say that for the fairy’s magic to work he needs a sacrifice and he said that he already had done that means that he may have sacrificed the child
The man that was killed by the wooden boy was the sacrifice, he asked “WHERES MY SON?! WHERES MY BOY?” Meaning dis dude crEATED A MONSTER BECAUSE HE WANTED A SON BUT TOOK ANOTHER MANS SON? BOI WHAT THE HELL?! I mean at least he got payback I guess….?
Wow, man. Talent. The way this is presented, I was so sure it was the next big horror pc game in the vein of a FNAF or Amnesia after seeing it on some dumb Facebook streamers vod that popped up. I love how this explains nothing but allows familiarity with a classic tale to fill in blanks. This is fantastic and I really hope you're proud because this kind of art inspires people.
I wouldn´t overestimate it, Monster Lab was his attempt at a long-form series and it was considerably less good than any parody or satire that he has made so far.
I can honestly see Meatcanyon making like a really good horror game or even a fantastic horror movie as he does such an incredible job on telling a story as well as adding in suspense, horror and everything else.
Pair Meatcanyon up with Lixian aka LixianTV who is one of Markiplier’s main editors/animators, and is also an indie HORROR GAME maker and designer. You’ll have a masterpiece of a horror game!
Can I interest you in Lies of P good sir? Horror action RPG where you play as a gothic horror steam punk pinnochio trying to save Gepetto and others from a plague and other conspiracies
Even though everything else in this probably took more time to make, the voice acting is absolutely masterclass. It really breathes life into the characters.
seeing you go from those 2-D animations into a full blown, high-quality 3-D animation is just… Stunning. Your channel and your craft just keep getting better and better…
This would make a good horror game, honestly. I'd even like to imagine that this is the beginning cutscene, and after that you'd have to find the Fairy in order to get back to normal and stop the demon puppet Pinocchio's curse.
We are all doomed the moment he, battington, and junji ito make a horror film together I think for the most part though, not a lot of these are actually taken seriously by meat which is probably why they seem really crap in terms of writing. Once we see a fully-fledged animated horror series or horror film on his channel that was written by him, rather than a short video, I think it is too soon to judge his writing ability (especially with things like "I Can Count to Three" which was pretty good for its horror, all things considered)
If meatcanyon and the other people who helped make this were able to make a horror movie where there is a demonic version of Pinocchio, it would be a major hit, especially with references from the original Pinocchio
I like how he included ancient Egyptian scrolls which makes Geppetto look like some kind of unhinged occultist and also would imply an interesting back story as to how they came into his possession.
From what I can gather, he was desperate to have his own son, but being an unhinged woodcarver, he fell into occult research. It seems that the scroll said that he’d have to sacrifice a real child to make his wooden one become real, and he probably kidnapped and murdered that angry guy’s son to do it. Of course the blood magic created a demon monster instead of a sweet little boy.
He also mutters “Fairies” referring to Fae, which are typically sick and twisted folktale creatures that get off on tricking others. Made me think he made a deal with a Drow and it didn’t turn out exactly as he had hoped.
@@kayleeblack4303 I believe that makes it a lot better, Fairies are actually evil and mischievous creatures not only that but they even trick you when it comes to making a deal with them, so the woodcarver must’ve been so desperate to have a child of his own that he ended up making a deal with a fairy hence why Pinocchio isn’t a real boy but some kind of wooden monster
Absolutely horrifyingly beautiful. The nose growing as he lies and how the puppet strings acting as extra limbs are just great touches. The story telling woven into the animation is just really well done, where it just hints at a boy being sacrificed. It's just perfect horror. Magnifique
Good God, what I wouldn't give to see you guys get full budget, full length film, etc. If this is the barometer for the now and what's to come, there's just gotta' be an Oscar around the corner.
I really want a TV series with this animation style and revolving around this evil incarnation of Pinocchio. MeatCanyon is such a master craft at the Horror genre it’s amazing.
The lighting and detail in the backgrounds and props was absolutely incredible! And the whole dark alchemical ritual aspect puts the perfect spin on it.
That would be amazing.... team up with the game development companies that have worked with Justin Roiland for his games. I feel like those companies are good at seeing the ideas of the creators come to life (although I ONLY have those games as a reference to their abilities). Games I speak of: Trover Saves the Universe, Accounting, Accounting+
1:17 The images on the two scrolls are all horrifyingly suggestive of what Geppetto must have done to end up with this disaster. But it's the drawing on far right of the first scroll that sticks with me. A real, handsome young boy...but something still seems wrong. Not just the fae-touched ears but that flat expression and empty, *soulless* gaze. He was never going to be normal. It is haunting.
So if they have pointed ears then wouldn't that make them a wood elf hehe i bet i could find something dark about elves because folklore is usually that messed up "elves were said to secretly steal healthy human babies and replace them with their own kind." Welp that sounds a lot like what happened here
There's also images of Lungs and Skulls, meaning not only did they transfer a Soul in that puppet, *They also transfer Biological Components inside a wooden body.*
I remember watching your original Pinocchio parody and thinking that it was disturbingly amazing seeing you transition from two dimensional Art to computer generated and still make it have that atmosphere of disturbing awe is something I can only commend you on
You know something? MeatCanyon really sets an example of how transformative he truly is an artist as well as a content creator on RU-vid. None of you can deny how vastly different 2D handdrawn animation is to 3 Dimensional CGI and yet MeatCanyon is able to render his sadistic vision onto either medium interchangeably and beautifully (with help of course) and not lose an ounce of integrity in his ability to constantly create an atmosphere so frightening it has you uttering under your very breath "whatinthefuck?" 15 seconds into the video. Kudos to you G. I hope you get very far in your career.
Holy shit this is good. I would say that this is easily one of your greatest works yet, Hunter. The designs on the scrolls are so good. You made it seem like there was actual alchemical lore and science behind Pinocchio, and it made the whole experience that much creepier. You honestly hit it out of the ball park with this one.
I feel like Meatcanyon is the only one who could make a horror movie about kids cartoon character and actually make it good unlike these others who put little effort to them and make it look stupid.
This goes beyond parody, spoof, or ripoff and completely goes into its own category of just true horror. Also the little details like the father's spit when he's screaming and the twitches in Gipetos hands and stuff really push this to a top tier level. These people should and hopefully will be having much more exposure in the future.
@@harrypotter5251 it isn't. This guy makes disturbing videos that do nothing to help our world! They're horrible, filled with morbidity and disturbing graphical content and it's in total a piece of crap! This "creator" should learn to do something more productive with his life, not taking cool kids stories and making disturbing videos about it.
This gives me PTSD from the video "when you wish upon a star" The most popular video MEATY has made When you look at the way his mouth is, you instantly see it
The detail of his nose growing when he says " I just wanna hug you papa" makes Pinocchio even more sinister, also this looks like the cinematic trailer for a terrifying game. Awesome video!
Definitely one of my all-time favorite animations on RU-vid. Our big ol Papa Meat has what it takes to be a horror legend. The fact that his medium of choice is animation makes it all the better 💚🫡💀
I seriously love how little you explained in this story, the way all the little bits give clues of the true story is a really nice detail, lets you imagine how this turned out instead of just telling you.
Also watching the recent Netflix Pinocchio adaptation helps, since this parody was heavily inspired by it. In the new adaptation Pinocchio was made by a biblically accurate angel. My theory is that this is a "what if" scenario of the angel actually executing the book of revelations.
I like it how terrified Geppetto is and when he reads the inscriptions literally it states that he needs to sacrifice a life of some sorts. Basically perform black magic or witchcraft. Geppetto got his wish.
If Papa Meat and Hoolopee worked together with some game developers they could make such incredible horror games, this masterpiece of a video is a good example of how good it could be
I couldn't help but smile when his nose grew at the phrases: 'I'm scared' and 'I just wanna give you a hug.' What a clever use of his nose growing when he lies. Edit: Holy shit thanks for the likes!!! Y'all are awesome!
The animation, voice acting, production... Everything is getting up to Hollywood, movie-level standards. I honestly think Meat Canyon may one day be held in the same legendary status as other horror icons like Wes Craven or H R Giger. This is groundbreaking work we are witnessing here. Incredible.
He should work with ALTER which is also top teir quality horror. One episodes animation is worthy of Pixar and another has Joe Kerry from Stranger Things in it... a collab would be fabulous.
