I'm still working on my mitre saw station. In this episode I build a verry nice fence.

I heard the voices of woodworkers everywhere crying out in anguish when you ripped a small piece off of that HUGE slab of mahogany. I know, it's recycled... :-) Very ingenious design on that stop block! And I keep wondering if you'll ever run out of scraps of hardwood flooring. You keep pulling them out for project after project! Great shot at the end of the snow sliding off the roof... I wonder how long you had to wait for that? Thanks for another enjoyable episode. ...art

wordsnwood Hopefully I still have more than 24 of those mahogany panels. It's cheaper to cut one than to buy new, mahogany is soooo expensive. Unfortunately for me, those floring planks are my last ones :(( I really wish I can find more, I love making shop stuff with it. I wanted to record the snow sliding off the roof since december, but it's really hard to predict when the snow will go. So I was working in the shop and heard the other side sliding, so I stoped and setup the camera on the patio, 3-4 minutes later the roof started going down, I was so happy :))))

you have TWENTY-FOUR of those mahogany panels!?!?!? That is a woodworking jackpot. Wow.
@LgosseuxDbois-TheWoodpecker
@LgosseuxDbois-TheWoodpecker 9 лет назад
wordsnwood They're not all that wide. Half of them are 30" X 96" the rest are the size of the one I used, wider but only 72". My father used to work at Ogilvy's downtown Montreal, when they changed their 100 year old cunter for glass one, they all threw them ayaw. My father kept the tops, he did nothing with them, now I'm using then for my nice furniture and, like I did, for straight wood while building fences.

***** A source of old hardwood flooring, are flooring companies that install flooring. Sometimes they get a job that calls for removing old HW flooring. Which gets hauled to the dump. Call around. Maybe even apply, if you are looking for a job. You might even score some new HW flooring scraps while you're at it.

Love your videos! That miter station is coming out great. I can't believe how big that slab of mahogany was. And your shop is gorgeous.

How in the world did you film your roof at the exact moment the snow slid off?
@LgosseuxDbois-TheWoodpecker
@LgosseuxDbois-TheWoodpecker 9 лет назад
Peter Collin I was working inside and I head the other side of the roof coming down. After hearing that, I installed my camera on the patio and 3-4 minutes after the other side started going down. I was just plain lucky, I've been waiting for a shot like taht all winter long.

Thanks, Alan, for another fine video. The fence is quite versatile--worth all the effort. The last part with the snow sliding off the roof was a great touch.

I know you may not believe this but that's okay, but that has got to be absolute most beautiful shot I have ever seen. Inside, outside and all around. I love the miter station. I wish I had a shop big enough to do it, or the tools to build it.

Mr Pekcer, please give me a honest and truthful opnion on the kapex...i.e... pros and cons and is it worth the money? thanks.

With all the money it cost it's hard to say if it woth the price, since I've not uses several other mitre saw. But the thing I can say are: The fact that the sliding post are in the front it's genius, the bosh I've used have it's sliding post in the back, so the saw has to be so far from a back wall it's a big waste of space. If you have to move it around it's lighter than others, but it's true it only has a 10" sawblade not a 14". The dust collection is not bad, it's not like other tools, it still throws a bit of dusts around but not a lot. The bosh I've used was harder to set for a cut that cut just part of the piece. bit it's big drawback is the hefty price, but I guess tat if you're not too concern about having the sliding post in the back a saw is a saw.
@LgosseuxDbois-TheWoodpecker

One thing for sure it's less heavier than the others I've moved around. And since I'm not getting younger I liked that.

Interesting edge trimming plane. What kind is it? A miter saw station is the first thing I built for my shop, in fact built it before the shop and had it ready to move in! You're in the home stretch now, it's been a wonderful process to watch and envy (except all the hard work you and Rene did).

Jim E I bought it at Lee Valley (www.leevalley.com/en/hardware/page.aspx?p=41012&cat=3,41306,41328) I don't know if it's the best chamfer bit, but it really works well in big holes, where small one wouln't.

@LgosseuxDbois-TheWoodpecker

Yes they're metal shingles. At least this will last for the rest of my life, unlike the normal ones made out of tar. I'M not sure where you can get them I ordered the whole roof at my local hardware big surface store. check the link: www.vicwest.com/residential/products/steel-roofing/summerside-steel-shingles

Thanks!! I have Bosch axial glide its a great piece of kit but it weighs 65lbs and I have to move it from site to site in and out of my van and that's one of the main reasons why I'm looking at the kapex. I just can't get over the $1,920 they're asking for it. thanks once again.

Your doing a beautiful job Alain, I love to watch stuff like this. As for the snow, I feel for you. Fishing season has been open for 9 days in NB and we still can't get near the rivers or lakes. I would like to open my trailer on the Renus river but the road is still clogged with snow.
