They didn’t sell the Chevrolet Colorado in model years 2013 and 2014, that’s why there are no complaints lodged. It’s impossible.

I have spent nothing on repair costs, only normal stuff like oil, headlights, tires (more often than I should) By abuse I mean that it is driven hard every day, stop light races, High RPM, offroading, burnouts, drifts you name it. it is one of my most reliable pickup trucks.

People should know some of these you tube guys ( not all by any stretch but some) are lazy just using a AI program to throw together a little click bait. Really misleading. Both generations of Colorados have been pretty good trucks. Fuel efficient reliable, durable after sorting out some initial problems ( like all modern cars/ trucks with a few exceptions. I was a dealer tech for several years. Even Toyotas have their issues( worked at old Koons Toyota MD VA DC)And god knows Mercedes Benz arrrg,!-many models are over priced junk( iI was a Benz tech 1986-89) Use critical thinking skills when researching or listening to idiots that really know nothing about the real world of servicing these complex systems on these modern vehicles. This particular video review is perfect example of poor research. Thank god the commenters chimed in.

Remember to NEVER buy any 1st year of a new generation vehicle. Wait a few years after they fixed all the kinks. My 2018 Colorado has been solid. Bought it at 30k miles and it has 93k miles now. Haven't had 1 issue and I beat the heck out of it on and off road. Love this truck! Brakes and MPGs are better than a Ranger or Tacoma. Only complain I have is that the OEM leaf springs in the back are bouncy on the non zr2 models. Upgraded to the ARB OME springs and it rides on cloud 9 now :)

Everyman Driver don’t be sorry ever, just thank them for their time and or contribution. I came here to leave the same comment and decided to find someone had already made it so that you don’t get hit over the head with the same thing over and over. I’m watching for a few reasons,most of it is because you keep it real, as in realistic, part of it is the Spokane connection, and finally you tend to get facts right. I won’t buy a Colorado because financially you get almost the same amenities for a larger truck when you buy a Silverado, and you end up with more truck behind all those features. In my opinion the only reasons to buy a midsized truck is because you want a 4 cyl engine for a work only truck that you won’t tow with and or because you want to be able to park your vehicle near the front entrance when out shopping. So Dave, I ask you this, when did the Colorado get a newer transmission that had more than six forward gears? I’m asking because you can do better than this if you want to that is.

Chevy addressed the engine and trans hesitation on the 2015. It took awhile (I think a year, maybe slightly longer) for Chevy to come up with a fix, but after they reprogrammed the computer it’s like having a new truck. No hesitation at all now, huge power instantly going up hills and getting on the freeways when pressing the accelerator pedal unlike when I first purchased it. The dealer recommended not using Costco gas or Arco and use Chevron. That made a difference with engine ping which was mostly noticed going up hills. Now with the engine/trans being reprogrammed and Chevron fuel (regular), my trucks runs smoothly.

I had that reflash done by my dealer on my 2016 Canyon 3.6 v6. Unbelievable difference. Always in the right gear even on hilly, twisty blacktop roads. Feels like I gained 50 hp. Gave up maybe 1 mpg.
@carbonking53
@carbonking53 Год назад
Your dealer fed you a lie about Costco gas. Virtually all gas in any given area comes from the same tank farm. Same gas to every station in the area. Chevron and Shell claim they add a detergent to keep you fuel system cleaner. Even that's up for dispute as I have talked to tanker drivers and they say they take the same fuel to all brands' stations. You can add a bottle of $5 fuel system cleaner every 3000 miles to your tank and keep buying Costco or Sam's Club gas imo.

2015 & 16 , have 6 speed transmissions. They will not break down on you or leave you stranded, they just are always looking for a higher gear for fuel economy. There actually good transmissions. In 17 and above GM went to the 8 speed with the 6cyl. (Not the 4cyl). The 8 speed is crap. Stay away from it. !!! The diesel and 4cyl still to this day, use the 6 speed, and it’s a good transmission. I have a 15 , 3.6 ltr with 6 speed, 160.000 miles, daily driver, bought new, never had 1 problem with. It’s a great truck, contrary to what this guy says.

The nice thing about the 6 speed in the diesel is that it actually doesn’t try to get to 6th gear as fast as possible. It actually behaves more like an Allison and holds lower gears longer than the gas variants.

I love my 2016 Colorado and after 110,000 miles it's still going strong, is reliable and looking good. I do typically garage my truck, so that may help. Since 2016 and 110,000 miles I have never had to replace brake pads or rotors, and I tow a boat and jet skis frequently. I don't baby it and don't abuse it. My first set of Goodyear tires lasted over 60,000 miles and my second set still has plenty of tread. I change the oil using Valvoline Synthetic about every 6,000 miles, have had the limited slip differential serviced once, keep the filters clean and that's about it. In the beginning I had it in the shop for a lot for rattles, and interior panel alignment issues (I'm pretty picky about that). Once I had the AC quit under the extended warranty and the compressor had to be replaced. The transmission is reliable but is a little sluggish when downshifting, especially in traffic. Sometimes I put it in trailer mode to compensate and that works fine. I believe that the 8 speed transmission starting in 2017 alleviated that problem. Short of those few and minor issues, it's been a great truck and I highly recommend it. So don't let this RU-vid video scare you off. Go for it.
@thomaslehmann5981
@thomaslehmann5981 Год назад
GM Service bulletin #18 NA-145 will correct all 6 speed transmission issues. You will probably have to pay for it at this point although mine was free. Took about 30 minutes. Totally different truck. Always in the right gear, never hesitant to downshift.

I had a 2009 Straight 5 extended cab WT in our service fleet . Great durable economical truck. Some 1st gen had a strange vibration problem coming through the "seat of your pants" dealers chased their tails for long time. Turned out many had slight out of round machining on wheel rims. Alot of service depts still don't know that or ... well you know. I still consider Colorados both gens a good value. Starter motors a little hard to get too, some people " modify " their drivers side wheel well to get to it. But mine made it to like 160k before needing starter. Sometimes exhaust manifold will crack in high water. The rest is normal things that go on modern cars. Ie steering wheel sensor angle " clock" spring air bag warning crushed wire by plastic panel. Seen all the same problems with all other makes. Thanks I have spend quite a few years in automotive service. Don't trust all you tubers.

I don't know about the Colorado but I can tell you the transmissions in the police Tahoes are utterly worthless. I have a friend that works for an agency that uses them and on his way to take the trucks in a convoy from the dealer to the emergency outfitter where all the police items are put in it in a town 50 miles away, 2 of the transmissions out of 7 went out on the interstate. They had to be towed back to the dealer. Y'all enjoy your Chevys. I hate my Charger patrol car, but at least it works.

@@eaglezhao3648 1. Just who would you think I’m talking to? Salesmen? NO, but customers in the waiting areas and a number of techs I have as friends. 2. I’m in my second for no other reason than after we both retired and needed only one vehicle, I traded a 2016 Colorado EXT CAB,Z71,4x4, V6, that we traveled over 68,000 trouble free miles, mostly towing a 21’, 4,000lbs travel trailer all over. So with the need for a true four door vehicle, we went out test driving the every mid-sized truck. All were very nice, but the Gladiator was too expensive and had loose steering, the Tacoma had soft brakes and felt like we were sitting on the floor, with no discounts, the Ranger had a great engine and trans, but soft brakes an poor fit and finish, the Frontier actually wasn’t bad, but felt old and had old electronics. None of them except the higher level Gladiators and Rangers had CarPlay an WIFI. But the crew cab Colorado I bought, a 2019, Crew Cab,W/T,4x4, V6, with every option available, including a great 7” touch screen and Apple CarPlay with OnStar tele-metrics an 4 G LTE WIFI, factory tow package, with hitch, wiring, trailer brakes control and G80 auto lock rear differential. Along with an 84 month 100,000 miles bumper to bumper warranty, plus the dealer installed the skid plate package that comes on the ZR2. All for an out the door price of under 33k! That’s $5,000-$10,000 LESS than all the others, more if you wanted WIFI in the Jeep! Afterwards I have removed the dam air dam, added a set of Bilstein 5100 struts/shocks, to add 1.9” front lift/suspension travel. Now only waiting to add more miles out of the stock 265/70-16 Wranglers, to get 265/75-16 Wrangler DuraMax tires, before I’m done. Also we now tow a bigger trailer, a 26’, 5,600 lbs GVWR, that brings us to a CGVWR of 10,400 lbs, that’s higher than all but the Gladiator an Ranger, all tows with ease! Good luck have fun and stay safe and healthy!

Even better is it's either replaced under warranty with no explanation as to why it happened, or you're told to pay up because it was out of warranty.
